We had a GREAT time.

1. The weather is HOT!!!!! Please take your time and drink ALOT of water. If you have young children, please be aware of how the heat is affecting them. I saw too many infants, and toddlers looking dangerously overheated.

2. The crowds progressively got huger as the week went on. We were there from the 15-23, and by the 21st, EE at MK had huge waits before 9am. Plan out what you really want to see, and do, then pace yourself! My itinerary was blown on day one(hee!hee!).

3. Transportation was fine from AKL....that is except the 2 days they tried to use Magic on Demand. Then of course, the buses NEVER, and I mean NEVER, showed up. 45 minutes is way too long to wait for a bus. This was not only a problem at AKL. I could see the crowds, and lines of people for GF, CR, Poly, etc. all having a problem. Too many resorts sharing buses. Once they stopped the Magic on Demand we were back to no waits. UNBELIEVABLE.

4. People in general were rude. Lines are apparently an unheard of thing.

5. All Star Movies was GREAT the one day and night we speant there. All of the CM's exceptionally friendly. Marilyn at Check-in was too kind to my twins. Traded pins, gave them pins etc. We had requested Toy Story at check-in. They said they were booked, how about Dalmation, I said fine. Next thing we know they are putting us in Buzz building. Then they are sending us a Fridge just because they saw we had fruit with us!!! I politely turned it down, since we were only there one night. My kids LOVED being there. GREAT variety of food at the Food Court.

6. AKL is a BEAUTIFUL resort. We did however encounter, a not very nice person at Check-in. Everyone else there was GREAT!!! I personally did not have a Savannah view room, but Grumpyandbashful kindly allowed us to see hers. Would I pay the difference for the view? NEVER!! IMHO, it is not worth it. You can see animals from EVERYWHERE, and a felt a pool view was more pleasing to the eye. We had room 2026 and 2028, and could see part of the savannah from there. Food choices at Mara, while good, is very limited. After 9 days, we had all had enough. It is also too small for the amount of guests there. Lots of people standing, waiting for tables. This is a resort where you WANT to spend time, so they should have taken that into account when planning the food court. Be kind to the guides from Africa, many are very homesick. They are very interesting to talk to! They all said the heat here was far worse then where they were from!!! My kids loved the pool, even the slide. They did the slide opening ceremony, and had a blast. They also went to Simba's one night, and wanted to return EVERY night. There is only a 1 hour min. unlike at other babysitting facilities. Our housekeeper, Carolyn, went above, and beyond the call of duty EVERY day! Such talent with animals made out of towels!! All in all loved the resort, but feel that once you have been there, that is enough. Maybe I will feel differently when I go to BC next year. I will have to see. When we passed Swan,by boat, I can honestly say that we all wanted to go back there. But everyone has different tastes.

6. We ate atTusker House, Mara, Boma, Prime Time, Sci-Fi, H&V, Crystal Palace, Columbia Harbor House, Pecos Bill, San Angel, Coral Reef, and O'hana's. ALL were great, except H&V. Not to our taste, and there were 8 of us.

7. We had alot of fun, but after 9 days of heat, and crowds, we are glad to be home.

8. We are all wondering how EE and E-night will mean anything special after Pop Century is complete. There were 30 minute waits at both of these events. I did not feel they could fairly ask for more money for longer waits then I had during the day!

9. Last but not least...The BEST thing to happen on our trip, was meeting @ 25 other people from these boards. It was WONDERFUL to meet everyone on the 19th, and will be posting pictures as soon as possible.

We will be at AKL from July 4 to 12. Can't wait!!!

Question about Simba's Club: We were planning to use it on Saturday, July 7 for our kids while DH and I go to Victoria and Albert's. Is there a maximum amount of time to be there? I've heard that dinner at V and A's can take 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Would that be OK for Simba's Club?

Deb- I am sorry, I am not sure of the answer to your question. I do know it opens at 4:30 til 12PM(?) $8hr. per child, dinner included, and the women there were wonderful. They said that the busiest they have been is 15 kids. There were about 4 other children there with my two kids. We ate at Boma's at 6pm, and left them there for 2 hours. They DID NOT want to leave.

What did you mean about the Pop Century?

Oh, and by the way, welcome back!:D

Hello Laurenk! It was fun meeting everyone also! Great trip report. I am sorry we did not meet up with you at AKL but we saw grumpy&bashful in the Concierge lodge! Thanks for Posting this report. I am looking forward to seeing your pictures!

Blondie- Hi! Pop Century is SO massive that we can't imagine having that many more guests, and being able to have EE and E-night work. EE was only good for about the first 30 minutes, then there were 30 minute waits. Space Mountain had a 30 minute wait on E-night. We actually had better luck doing rides with no waits during regular times. Of course, this was probably due to my superb planning!!(LOL!)

Nutz- My DH will post the movie and pictures as soon as he gets a chance. Right now we are trying to catch up with reality!!

Thanks for posting...I loved reading about All Star Movies...My 4 year old son loves Toy Story and wants to stay there in the worst way! lol....:)

YIKES!

So Pop Century is that big?????

I guess the "suits" at WDW are hoping to get the guests that would normally stay on I-4 to stay there. Maybe it won't change the number of guests.......or will it? Only time will tell!

All I can say is that if it ever gets like it was during Easter, on a regular basis (as in the off season) we'd probably stop going!! I couldn't handle those crowds every time we go! Nope! Just can't do it!

I'd stay right here in VA and get a season pass to Busch Gardens!

Blondie- Pop Century has 6,000 rooms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When we drove past, you could tell it was not even close to being done. The space they have allocated for it is massive. There was an article in the Orlando Sentinal stating that they slowed down construction because they knew that they couldn't fill it.

Busch Garden season passes are $77 per person at Quantico...seriously almost bought them again this year!!
