Just got back from a week stay at the All Stars Movies Resort.
Great Trip. Anybody got any questions to be answered, I will be more than happy to try.

I see that you have previously stayed at deluxe and moderate resorts, did you enjoy the all stars as much? Did you feel that you missed out on the amenities? I have stayed at the BWI and CSR in the past and we are thinking of a trip for Halloween but we would need to stay at the All Stars and I am worried that we would feel that we missed something.

I, too, am worried about staying at All Star Movies. We have previously stayed at deluxe resorts at WDW. However, we have never taken kids before. Will I miss the amenities? Will I go crazy spending 8 nights in a small room with my husband and our sons, ages 2 and 4? We got such a great rate I couldn't pass it up. I figure we just won't be spending that much time in our room anyway. Right?

We have stayed at the Contemporary, Yacht Club, Poly Concierge, Swan and Port Orleans (FQ) in the past. Will be staying at ASMovies in September. Actually--We are on a quest to stay at every WDW resort. Just hope we aren't disappointed by our first Value Resort!!!

I stumbled upon this thread and thought I might throw in my two cents. I've stayed at Poly, GF, Contempory, WL, Carribean Beach, All Star Sports, and PO riverside. I think it all comes down to what you like. My parents love the relaxing resorts where my mom can explore and lose my dad.:) So they stick with the deluxe for the most part. If you want peace and quiet avoid the All Stars like the plague. Nothing but kids going nuts and parents going nuts.

I stayed at AS and it suited my needs because I was with a friend in college and we did the marathon week trip. We just slept there, we never swam, and we just visited the other resorts and ate at them. But I had been spoiled by the deluxe resorts and I missed them. I'll probably never stay at the AS or the new pop century resorts. I'd rather pay just little bit more and stay at a moderate like PO riverside. My parents loved that hotel and they have the best Foodcourt! I know college programmers who went there to eat a cheap Disney meal. So to each his own, if you have any questions PM me or I'll check back at this thread.

I LOVE the All Stars, I stay in them ALL of the time!:D I have a ressie for All Star Music in 74 days! I love the price!:o

I have stayed at the AS and also at some moderates. While I haven't stayed at a deluxe (yet!) I can say that I never felt like I was missing out by being at an AS. Sure, we can afford to stay at a deluxe but when it gets right down to actually paying the money, I reason it out that we only use our hotel for sleep and its just not worth the extra expense to pay more for a bed. I would rather spend the extra money on some souveniers or to eat at some nicer places while we are there. I wouldn't hesitate to stat at an AS again and I did not find them to be noisy at all...I think it really depends on where your room is located. In fact, with our June trip, I really debated on staying at ASMo, where we originally had our reservations, or going up to POFQ. The deciding factor for me was that we have decided this trip will be adults only as an early anniversary celebration and POFQ was where we stayed on our honeymoon. So our decision was sentimental rather than want or need based. As far as our October trip, we are shooting for AKL right now but that is only assuming we get a fantastic rate. If the rate isn't the best, I'll go back to the AS in a heartbeat!

Basically, its all in what you like to do when down there. If you like to hang out by the pool or on your resort property and just relax, then you may find the AS a little congested, depending on when you visit (12/01 it was dead; 4/02 it was a madhouse). In that case, a mod or deluxe may be more for you. If you want quiet around your room but don't care how busy the rest of the hotel is, then again an AS can work for you (depending on where your room is). If you are like us and you spend all your time at the parks and only use your room for sleep, then you'll be fine at an AS.

Well I would also say that is the case with the Beach Club whose pool is a madhouse also and whose teeny restaurant can't accomodate the crowds.

We've stayed at the Movies twice now and we really like this hotel!!! We've stayed at deluxes, moderates, and the Movies and just as everyone else says, it all depends on what you're looking for. Our trips to the Movies have been quick trips to see the Christmas decorations - and we were NOT disappointed!!! I didn't miss any amenities - we've stayed in Love Bug and 101 Dalmations, and our room was VERY QUIET and VERY CLEAN. Also, a short walk to the food court/bus stop. And, I think All-Stars has some of the best transportation on site!
Glad you enjoyed your stay - and if you're planning a stay in the future, I think you'll enjoy your stay!!!!

I am a DVC member with my home resort at BWV, so we stay there alot. But we have also stayed at other DVC resorts, deluxe resorts, moderate resorts and the All Stars and I can honestly say I have never been disappointed with my stay at an All Star resort. I have never had problem with noise, the bus transportation is very good, the food court has good food at very reasonable prices and we enjoy the pools. When you get a discount for the value resorts they are truly a steal! I will be going to WDW next month for 2 weeks and I will be staying at an All Star resort, a moderate resort and BWV, I like them all!

Ive stayed in ASMO after deluxe and moderates...I LOVED ASMO! I thought it was the best resort for my kids. While my heart always belongs to the Poly, I would have to say ASMO is my 2nd favorite resort. Its just soooo Disney.

I have to admit that we were a little apprehensive about staying at All Stars, especially after staying at the deluxes.

Well, we were really happy with the resort. We do not have anything bad to stay about the resort. The grounds were excellent, our kids loved the pool(Mickey sprays water out periodically), and the food court was good. Service was great.

While we were there, the buses were excellent. Better than the service at the deluxes. I am sure we will stay there again.

Any specifics that you wanted answered, just let me know.

Just chiming in here with praise for the All Stars! I have stayed at CR and DxL and would much rather stay at the All Stars! You cannot beat the bus service, food court selection/prices, and the magic atmosphere (esp. at the Movies). As I have posted before we would much rather save our money; by staying at an All Stars, and spend it on other parts of our trip. Actually, even if a moderate and even almost all of the deluxes were cheaper, I'm sure most members of my family would still choose ASMO! We love it that much! I for one would never choose to stay at DxL over ASMO again!

Thanks for all the wonderful reports on ASMO. We are very excited about this trip and it sounds as if this resort is a good match for my family. I appreciate all the reassuring comments. The DIS boards have been great as we plan our vacation. Thanks again!

I'm with the rest of the people I love All-Star Sports. So cool. I like me as it's clean got decent place to eat and pool it must be pretty good. The only way i would stay anywhere else is would use one of the codes to get a discont. If they like me and mom once we drive 10 hours with get lost we more gladly pay to stay onsite. All-Star Resorts is just perfect for us because it's simple and we do not need nothing fancy. We prefer stay any from those minibars.

I havent been around here in a while and BOY are things different! WOO HOOO loving it!!

Well, just to toss my 2 cents in about the All Star Resorts -- my family has stayed at Resorts ranging from Deluxe to All Stars and while we have enjoyed the Grand Floridian immensely, I felt my children felt more FREE in the All Stars LOL They definitely ran around, but how could you NOT run when you have a 3 Story Woody and Dalmations!! We LOVE the All Stars!! Our stays at the Grand Floridian were glorious, my 3 girls felt "fancy", but we added some time while we were there and stayed over at the All Stars (2 rooms for the less than price of one at the GF -- which meant two BATHROOMS :::aaahhhh:::). We are planning on going back in Oct or Nov still haven't booked it, but we will probably go with 2 adjoining rooms in the AS Movies vs any of the Deluxe or Moderates -- I just LOVE having the 2 bathrooms! With a newly potty trained toddler it is a necessity :D We did not feel we were missing out on anything at all there, the girls loved it more than the other hotels we have stayed at (CBR, CS, GF, ASMusic). And with a "large" family (as most things are based on family of four and we are a family of five who ocassionally take Grandma with us we are large by most standards), we find that having adjoining rooms gives us the space we want and we save $$$ that we can spend on MOUSELLANEOUS items :p :D

Yep StinkerbellsMom, that is the other wonderful thing about staying at the All Stars... you can get two rooms for the price of a Deluxe. The best thing about that is, TWO BATHROOMS!! We are also a group of 5 (sometimes 6) and I cannot imagine having only 1 bathroom! It would be beyond chaos! 5 women/girls and only 1 bathroom? Scary thought!
