Just back from a great weekend- Now with Pics

Day 4 took us to EPCOT. As expected, most rides were walk on except Soarin. We got fastpasses for it and rode everything else. Even took in the Capt EO show. Man is that show dated. Brought back fond memories though.

We decided to take the boat to MK then the monorail to the TTC then to EPCOT. While waiting for the boat, I noticed this odd vessel.

Looks like some sort of fuel barge. Not sure what its use is, and never noticed it before. Its kind of a fitting thing as my job involves fuel (Im a fuel specialist-POL-in the AF).

And of course, what boat ride would be complete without some pics of RC. Still looks to standing, for now.

I joked that I was going to swim over there and try to outdo TCD, but the DW didnt want to bail me out. So I settled for some long shots of it.

Our goal for the day was to drink our way around the world. We started strong, but ended up sharing drinks about halfway through.

Ill share some of the festivities:

I know it has nothing to do with the Fort, but it was fun.

The beach was PACKED this night. Not sure what was going on, but there were carts everywhere. I also heard bagpipes playing during wishes.

We tried to get a pizza for a late night snack, but when we arrived at TE, there was no one around. We waited for 10-15 min for someone to acknowledge us, but by then, it was 2200 and all they said was "We are closed now." So no pizza.

It's always an honor and pleasure to meet the dedicated and brave young people, well to me they're young, that allow us to enjoy what we have. It hasn't been mentioned, except for the arriving in uniform comment, and I'm not sure everyone picked up on it, that the three amigos in the photos are all active military. Thank you, Dave, Todd, and Tony, hope I got the names right, for your service.

Did your wife enjoy Traditions?

Great report and pics.

So the water main that was hit was in front of the horrible site along the sidewalk?

Man, those people couldn't catch a break, could they? Of course, they were operating the Fort's only hot dog stand / waterpark for the weekend.

You should have seen the mass exodus on Monday. We had to wait to get out of the Fort. Everyone waited until right at 1100. It was crazy. I should have extended one more day and left today. The DW had Traditions today anyway.

Great to have finally met you, wish you could have spent more time with us, but we understand, maybe next time.
We left this am at about 7am, was late for work but it was better than checking out yesterday.

She did enjoy Traditions. She talked about it for hours after she got home. She brought home some figurines she had gotten for class participation and being a team leader. The highlight of her day was when Mickey himself came into the class and gave her her nametag.

And thank you for your kind words. You got all of our names correct......and Im not that young, just young at hart.

It was great meeting everyone. Wish we could have stayed longer too. Its great talking to everyone here on boards, but even better in person. Im sure we will have more opportunities to meet in the future. The Fort will always be my favorite place to visit.

Not having my junior TCD badge, I didnt venture any closer. But there was a hole dug, had to be at least 6 feet deep, and workers were in the hole pretty much the whole time.

While waiting for the boat, I noticed this odd vessel.

Bravo Zulu!

(Do AF guys say that?)
(My squid brother says it instead of good job!)

And, I have some good news for you . . .

Even though you did not get a photo of the six foot deep hole on the 600 loop, or swim to RC, you did get a Musket Mickey photo, a photo of a new watercraft at the FW beach, and you posted a good aerial photo. For this outstanding work, you are hereby awarded your TCD Junior Deputy Badge, together with all rights and privileges thereto appertaining. I will show you the secret handshake, and give you the password in person- I will look you up sometime at the Fort.

Seriously, though, thanks for posting the TR! Great job!

Great TR, can't wait for more. I am the proud mom of a MARINE and I want to thank you for serving.:thanks:

Talk about timing ..... this is a copy of a friend's post on FB today ..... (the 'rocket ranch' = Kennedy Space Center).... "We're getting a "water main" day today at the rocket ranch. Lots of laughing and joking as word got out to go home....got me thinking. There are parts of this world where running water is still a luxury or even nonexistent. We lose it, and celebrate. Is that wrong?" I wonder if some bozo ran over it with a heavy MH?:rotfl2:

Day 5 Sorry for the delay. I came down with some bug and have been under the weather.

Day 5 has us going to DTD. It was a nice relaxing day, not much to report. Had Earl of Sandwich for lunch (a must everytime we goto DTD).

The day takes a turn when we decide to head to the pool. I wish I was thinking ahead and took my camera, but the pool was PACKED. This is no extageration, it was shoulder to shoulder people. You couldnt even swim. Even the hot tub was full because folks ran out of room in the pool. The pavilion was of course sqauted. There was one woman sitting there to save her spot and there was birthday banners and balloons and decorations all over the place. I hate to sound mean, but I would venture to guess it was some locals. Judging from the conversations overheard at the pool, most of the folks at the pool that day were not even guests of the resort. We stayed about 15 min before getting frustrated and went back to the camper. Good thing because it started to rain.

I do have a treat for yall. What TR would be complete without Wishes???

So here are a few fireworks pictures....BTW, the sound for the firworks did not work at the beach the couple of times we went to watch them. Kind of dissapointing. To me, the story that goes along with the firworks makes it so much better.

Now onto the fireworks....

OOOOOOO......

My DW always says I never appreciate the firworks because I only see them through the view finder on my camera. Photography is one of my hobbies and I am constantly working on getting that one great moment. I have this OCD and have to always take pictures of fireworks, no matter where I am. So every trip, I have about 100 pictures of nothing but fireworks. Some turn out, some dont. Good thing its all digital now a days......

Day 6 is our departure day. We have our routine down and can be packed up and on road in 30 min. So we get moving about 1000 and are rolling out the gate around 1100. Or so we thought. I get in the exit line right at the intersection of the 4 way stop. Just back from the hitch unhitch area. First thought was we were stuck behind a slow moving vehicle until I got a good look and saw the line of campers. It was horrendous. The staff was directing everyone out one exit only.

The drive home (all 60 mins of it) was uneventfull.......

I have never really thought about how they refuel the boats. I guess I just assumed they had a tank somewhere and drove the boats to it.

devores- back before Disney got these new boats they used boats that used 6 gal portable fuel tanks. Thought out the day you would see a fuel barge with 100 or so 6 gal tanks on it.

I agree about the music making a huge difference. We were only able to see the Nightastic fireworks once. We were at the beach with no music. It was disappointing, just a bunch of booms. The story and music is essential for me. I can see a bunch of booms at my local state fair.

I'm glad you have an enjoyable trip!
