We made it back. Didnt want to leave, but have to work some time to pay for more fort trips.

The week started uneventfull, but we did have some snags. It all started Friday. Some guy in a class A backed over the water main while trying to get into his site (616). This resulted in a water main break and no water for about 6 hours. They were quick to start fixing it, but the 600 loop was blocked with construction vehicles while they fixed it. The funny part was, the guy who caused all of this walked over to see all the water spewing out of the ground and flooding some poor guys site, shrugged, and went into his camper and watched TV. Then he had the nerve to complain to Disney about the construction happening right in front of his site and the lack of water. Some people.

The next morning the back flows on the water lines in the 600 loop all started spewing water flooding everyone elses sites. They were quick to respond to calls, but the only way to fix them was to shut off the water and dig up the "crime scene" again. Turns out the fix they did Friday night was wrong and caused back pressure. So day two without water. We had EPCOT that day, so it was back on by the time we got back. But the water pressure was weak the rest of the time.

Disney was great and credited us a nights stay, without even asking. So Im happy.

Had the opportunity to meet some Disers this trip. It was great to finaly put a face to the names. Sorry I didnt get around too much. We had some Disney virgins with us and they wanted to experience the parks, so we didnt have the Fort downtime we had hoped.

The pool Sunday was PACKED. There wasnt even room to swim around without bumping into someone. There was the typical birthday party at the pavilion by the main pool, so Im sure that accounted for most of the people. Wonder how many were actual campers???

Ill put up some pictures as soon as I get them downloaded. All in all, a good weekend.......

Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself despite the water line situation. :wizard:

:confused3(was it a "wee-end" because of all the water flowing about?:rotfl:)

I just caught the misspelling in the title...haha. Kinda fitting though. Suppose to be weekend. My K doesnt always work on my computer.....

Sorry your start was a little rocking. Leaving out letters or adding letters that don't belong there only add to your own personal style.. :confused3 Need some pics please :thumbsup2

Oh my! Causing the problem and then complaining. Takes all kinds doesn't it. Glad you had a great trip!

It sure was great to meet you!! Our weekend was too short also!! I know about that work thing but it beats the alternative! We're still driving home.

Now begins the TR section:

DAY ONE

We leave around 1100, 1 Sep 10. We were going to wait until 1400, but I was too ancey and couldnt wait. So we pack up and are on the road in 30 min. One of the joys of living fulltime in your camper is you do not have much to do to hit the road. We arrive at the Fort around 1300 after a quick lunch at Arbys at the Loves. This was mainley to kill time.

At checkin we had the pleasure of having Mandy, who was earning her ears. We made it diffucult for her on her first day. We arrived early to start, so our original site was not ready. To add on the pressure, we were linked with some friends of ours who were arriving later that day. So she had to change both of us to the 600 loop and ensure we were still in adjoining sites. Mission accomplished. Then we had a GC rental. After some questions to her boss and some whoopsies, we were checked in and had our cart. Took a little longer than ussual, but she was great and was fun to talk to. So it wasnt all too bad. And hey, we were on vacation, who is in a hurry anyway?

We get to site 612.

This was our first time staying in the 600 loop and were pleasantly suprised. The view was phenominal.

The only downside was the lack of shade and comfort station on the loop. For those who like to fish, this site was great. Right out the back door and cast off. We did have a nice welcome crew when setting up.

Yes, thats DW feeding the ducks.

After setting up and decorating the GC we do some looping.

No Disers around but I did notice something over by the cabins. I chased this guy down and managed to snap a quic pic.

Im sure the seasoned fiends allready knew about this service vehicle, but it was something new to me. I like the old Musket Mickey Logo. It looks nice on the side of the vehicles. I vote they bring it back for good.

While looping we get a call that our friends had arrived. I gave them directions from I4 and went to the checkin to meet them. This was thier first Fort trip.

We get them to thier site, 614, and settle in for the night. I had to wake up at 0400 to drive back to Tampa for work the morning.

Had a nice dinner of vineson steaks, corn on the cob, and baked beans.....

Day Two consisted of me driving to Tampa for work. Let me tell you, the traffic on I4 at 0500 is insane.

The DW stayed and went to AKL to visit her mom. I got back to the Fort around 1700 and had dinner reservations at Bomas at 1900. This was a nice experience, but was not worth the cost (as is most Disney buffets). The food was good though.

After dinner, we took a dip in AKL pool (gasp....pool hopping). But DWs mother was staying there, so that makes it ok, doesnt it???? The pool was nice and large. Why doesnt the Fort have a bigger pool? There are probably more people staying at the Fort than any other resort, yet the Fort has the smallest pool of all of them. Plus we have to accomindate the non resort guests.......

No pics from day, unless you want to see me at work. Its not too exciting though.

It was good meeting you as well. Thanks for showing us your Mousektab. I always hate leaving the Fort, and we dont even have that long of a drive.

We leave on Saturday for the Fort....DH is planning to come home Wed morning (to Tampa) to work until Friday evening - I'm trying to convince him he can drive back and forth - like you did :yay:

Great report so far! Sorry about the water mess though...what a pain.
But sounds like Disney gave some pixie dust to help with the pain :thumbsup2

I could make that drive everyday if it meant ending at the Fort, but getting up an hour and a half earlier was hard. If yall can afford the gas, I say go for it. Nothing better than the clock hitting quitin time and you know you will be at the Fort in about an hour. I did not even change. I got some strange looks when I pulled into the fort in uniform. You would have thought I had an extra nose or something......

Hey I know what you mean.... during the months of May, June and July I was traveling to the Tampa area, a night or two out each month working on a job there. On two or three occasions, instead of going back to the hotel room to look at the walls, I would drive over to the Fort, eat at Trails End, and walk as many loops as I could before it got really dark. I would usually get there around 7 or 7:30, catch the bus to the Settlement, eat, then walk the loops. If I left around 9:30, 10:00, I was usually back at my hotel around 11, or 11:30... My wife thought I was nuts... I have news for her.... I AM!

Day 3 has us going to Typhoon Lagoon. I didnt take my nice digital camera with me as I didnt want it ruined, so we opted for those cheap underwater deals. We have to go old school though and tae them to get developed so the pics will have to wait. The crowds were minimal and wait times were around 5-10 mins. My plan worked. Hit the water park Friday so most people will still be at work or school. We headed back to the Fort around 4.

This is when all of the craziness happened. The guy in site 616 was backing in his class A and swung wide because he had a small utility trailer still hooked up. When he swung out, he left the pavement and drove over a water main. The weight of the camper and the force of the tires turning over it sheared it off. Water instantly started rising from the ground and within minutes, the site next to it was flooded. The guy who backed over the water main walked over after setting up, look at the damage, shrugged, and went in to watch TV.

The yellow line represents the path of his tires. As you can see, there was plenty of room to get into the site. Even a novice could have done it without leaving the pavement.

We decided to go looping at this point.

After meeting some Fiends, we returned to survey the situation. This was around 2100. Still no water. After a long day at the water park and looping, I could use a shower. So we sat outside and watched the show.

Its kind of hard to see, but that is a vaccuum truck sitting in the middle of the 600 loop. Right in front of 616.

Well, the owners of 616 were none too pleased. They actualy complained about all of the wor being done and the fact that thier site was blocked.

Not having my junior TCD badge, I didnt venture any closer. But there was a hole dug, had to be at least 6 feet deep, and workers were in the hole pretty much the whole time.

The water was restored around 2400 and the crews left the scene so we went to bed.

It was great to meet ya Dave, we leave Thursday and after everyone left here yesterday it is lonely. Plenty of sites available.

You should have seen the mass exodus on Monday. We had to wait to get out of the Fort. Everyone waited until right at 1100. It was crazy. I should have extended one more day and left today. The DW had Traditions today anyway.

If you had waited till 12:30 - 1:00 (when we left), you wouldn't have had a problem.
