What a fantastic resort!! We did 7 nights w/ DDP and two nights R/O at the end. From the second we drove through the gate it felt like home. We were upgraded from standard to woods view (room 4028) and had a wonderful room overlooking a little pond, with a view of CR, the monorail, and the fireworks at night.
The room location could not have been better. We were steps from the elevator, and right over Roaring Forks and the door to the pool. So it was just a quick stroll to get mug refills or jump in the pool at night. Perfect! The only time we had to walk much was to get to the bus, and even that wasn't really too far away.
The pool was great! The whole pool area was gorgeous and the pool temp was perfect - warm but not too warm. DD didn't work up enough courage to try the slide, but it looked like a lot of fun.
The theming throughout the resort was amazing and the rooms were beautiful. Transportation was a breeze. We never waited more than 5 minutes for a boat or 10 minutes for a bus - and then it was during the slow period after lunch.
Housekeeping was great, too. The room was cleaned well every day and everything restocked, and we got lots of towel animals. On the day before we checked out, they left a whole arrangement of towel animals on the bed - an elephant, dog, mouse, penguin, dolly, flower... I think they were meant for DD because each day when I left the tip on the bed she also left them some of her candy from Goofy's Candy Co. I don't know if they actually ate it, but it was always taken.
We were the flag family on our last day there and DD was just beside herself. The view was amazing!! We could see everything from up there! DD got to raise all the flags with the CM and he gave us a flag family certificate.
Afterwards the CM invited us to enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast on the concierge floor. Very fun! I thought the selections were great - fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, pastries, cereals, all kinds of beverages... It definitely got me thinking about splurging on club level next time!
My only complaint was the front desk. The CM's there were friendly and helpful - it just seems like too many of them don't know what they're doing. I was down there way too many times. First we couldn't get our tickets/DDP because the system was down so we had to return later to get them, then after we got our cards we found out at the restaurant that our DDP wasn't downloaded onto the them
, then when I checked in for the room only reservation, our tickets weren't moved over onto the new keys (the CM had told me they were), then the tickets were moved to the new cards but the room key part wasn't put on them, then I was charged the wrong rate on our room-only reservation and it took two concierge visits to sort it out.... It was endless.
They were all very nice, I just think a few too many of them there were "Earning Their Ears" at a particularly busy time. That certainly won't keep us from returning, but I'll probably keep it more simple next time since a lot of our problems stemmed from the split stay.
All in all, we had a magical time at WL. We looked forward to it for months, and it was even better than our expectations. As much as we've enjoyed the mods, I'm definitely a WL convert now! We're planning a spring trip back, and I'm not even considering anywhere else. We just can't wait to return!
