I was very concerned about the huge size of the resort, but once I got checked in and got my bearings I really found myself enjoying the resort!
Check in was a breeze, and my room was ready when I checked in at around 12:30.
I had a studio in the Grandstand section, what a great location. My room was on the 4th floor, in kind of a corner, so not a lot of noise from people walking outside. I was close to the stairs and elevators ( I walked off a few of those mickey ice cream bars by using the stairs) I was close to the bus stop and the pool. It was too cold for me to even attempt the pool, but there were children in the pool a few times. It was a quick walk to get over to the Carriage House and the Artist Palette.
This was my first DVC stay so I was so impressed with all the room I had in the studio. I was travelling solo, but it was great having all that space for just me. The bed was so comfortable, I actually slept in a few morning. It was quite chilly in the mornings (45 degrees) so I figured I'd wait for the sun to warm things up a bit before going to the parks.
My room was clean and in great shape. My only "issue", which is kind of a harsh work, was the amoire for the TV. The TV was on a swivel, but the doors to the amoire did not open wide enough for you to sit on the sofa and watch TV. I thought that was a bit odd, but hey I made due and sat on the bed.
The bus transportation was not bad at all, generally the wait time was between 10 and 15 minutes. The Grandstand bus stop was the first to be picked up and dropped off, travelling to and from the parks. It does take awhile for the bus to get all the way around the resort though.
One morning I walked over to the carriage house to mail something so I walked over to the Springs bus stop. I wanted to see how it was taking the bus from there since it was the last stop. The bus was full, but not standing room only. I was lucky though I never had to stand, even leaving the parks late at night. I would suspect though during the busy seasons taking the bus from this location would mean a very crowded bus.
I really liked the walk to DTD, I just walked over to Broadway, and then cut over at Congress Park.
All in all I had a great stay and would not mind staying at the SSR again. I am however looking forward to staying at my home resort, the AKV in June.

Thanks for the report....Glad you loved your 1st DVC stay:goodvibes

Did you try to push the doors in by the TV. A lot of the units have doors that push right into the cabinet.
Take a look next time.:goodvibes

I did not think of pushing the cabinet doors back, they seemed to be on hinges so I did not think of that. I will check it out the next time.

Thanks for the good report, we're heading to our home resort inside of three months now
