We were at DLR last Sunday - Thursday morning. We spent 4 days in the parks, with naps/pool time each afternoon. I learned so much here I wanted to pass on some observations/info.

We stayed at GCH with the Gay Days rates. Wow! Saved so much money, so thankful to have learned abut that here. The GCH was great. The proximity is obviously the best things about it. Would not have been worth the regular room rates (to me). The rooms are nice but VERY small. The balcony was great. Perhaps the balcony makes up for the size of the room.

I found the food everywhere to be marginal at best. The only meal I had that I found to be surprisingly good was at Tortilla Jo's at DTD. Also had a decent salad at the counter service place in front of Its A Small World (where they do the Jedi training).

We had an infant and a toddler with us. We got up early each morning, got a lot done before lunch, and then napped and had pool time in the afternoons. Back to the parks at night. This worked perfectly. Thank you for encouraging me to get up early on our vacation. Thanks to early morning wake ups and the fastpass system we easily rode everything we wanted to.

On the DCA early entry morning (or whatever it is called) the park opened to the public at 9, so we could get in at 8. We went to the main entrance at 7:30 and were about 30th in line at one of the turnstiles. We were probably in the first 200 to ride RSR that morning. We were off the ride by about 8:20 AM. It was great!

I was surprised at how easy it was to get fastpasses for World of Color even in the afternoons and get relatively good viewing locations even without getting there very early. I found the show to be amazing - but too long and too loud. I was ready to call it a night after the first 15 minutes. Perhaps too much standing up after such a long day. But did enjoy the show very much.

We loved the little shows they put on around DCA. We randomly stumbled across the newsboys singing at Carthay Circle (with a surprise appearance from Mickie) and the flight attendants (with Minnie) in front of Soarin over CA. Both little shows were great and not many people there, so we got to be very up close and personal. These were some of our best moments. The entertainment schedules show when they do this - worth the time.

I got the photopass+ and was very disappointed in how few photographers I saw around the parks. We only had our pictures taken 5 times or so in 4 days. Not worth the price! Would have been good if we saw more photographers.

I was surprised at how scary the Nemo Submarine ride was. I thought it was for kids but my toddler was terrified! Warning to parents.

Thanks again to all of you for your great knowledge!
