Prior to our departure, I read about members experiences at the BCV (not the good ones). My opinion has been that these people must be very picky to notice these types of things in their rooms and was not at all disuaded from staying there.
Let me now say, that I, myself, now have first hand experience with a not so perfect room at BCV.
We arrived at 9:30 am on Sunday morning and a room was ready! That was a great start. Room 145,1 BR, first floor. While I would not normally like a first floor room, the "ready" part made me forget all of that.
Upon entering the room, the first thing that struck my eye was the condition of the dining room table, that was scratched and marred. It appeared that the veneer had been chipped off in several large spots. Other than that, first impression was good. The room was clean and everything was in working order.
After unpacking and sitting down to relax, DH noticed the badly stained couch. It looked like someone had spilled milk on all of the cushions. Even my teen-age daughter whose room resembles a disaster area, remarked on the uncleanliness of it.
A day later while in the tub, I look up and noticed a hole in one of the bathroom doors. The door stop had been pushed through and left a hole.
Not one to make a big deal about anything, I did feel it was necessary to report these items to the front desk so that they could be taken care of for the next visitors. The hole in the door was fixed before we left, but that was it.
I also sent an e-mail to Member Services this morning reporting these items and expressing my dismay that these types of conditions are allowed to exist.
One other thing, was how uncomfortable the King Size bed was. During our other stays at BWV, the bed was always comfortable, but not this one. Not sure why these beds would be different.
We did have a wonderful time, though. Our family was chosen to open the MK on Tuesday. What a once-in-a-lifetime experience that was! We were taken from the front gate to Main Street, then boarded a fire engine vehicle and driven to Toon Town where we boarded the train with all of the characters. We were seated next to Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy and had some awesome one-on-one time before the train pulled into the station. We exited the train onto the platform and were given Pixie Dust to throw into the crowd at the end of the count-down. The whole experience was surreal. My DD, who is 18, was SO excited I thought she would bust. DH & I, were totally overwhelmed by the experience. In all the years of going to WDW, that single moment will always remain the most treasured memory.
F&W was great as always. Epcot did get crowded during the evening hours though. We saw The Commodores and Three Dog Night and ate enough to keep us full for days.
We toured SSR, and thought the Grand Villas were beautiful. I was not too crazy about the open concrete corridors, though, and the location is just not right for us.
Weather was perfect, crowds were not bad, and all in all the trip was a good one. However, I don't think I would stay at BCV again. BWV is our home and we missed the feeling that we usually get when we stay there.
