Hi Everyone! We just arrived back home :( late last night. Stayed 2 nights at ASMovies, 2 nights CBR, 4 nights BC and 2 nights HRH. Will be posting trip report soon. Any questions in the meantime?

Wish we were back!

Miss the Mouse already!;)

Welcome Back!

Could you please elaborate a bit on how the resort changing went? We have to do it for our first night there and we have a PS at 8:15 AM at CRT the next morning. I am not sure exactly what we are suppose to do. So if you could give me insight it would help a lot.

Thanks!

How was CBR...and which village were you at....
how did you feel it compared to the BC....
and how were the crowds at both the parks and at CBR?

Welcome back! thanks in advacne!

Sorry-this is long!

Hi boston-yachter! CBR was wonderful! Kids loved it; all three said it was their favorite (2-15 yo's-almost 16 and 1-13 yo)! We stayed in Jamaica. Had requested Martinique or Trinidad North, and were told at check-in that they saw our request but it was not available. We also requested connecting rooms, which we got, (did not get at ASMO) and one was a corner room. Very nice. We let the kids sleep-in at ASMO and we went to check-in at CBR around 7:30 a.m. Believe it or not, there was a wait at this hour for check-in! (not long; but I thought we would be the only ones up at this hour!). I thought checking-in early would give us a better chance of our bldg preference, but it didn't work. Jamaica was a great builiding to be in though. We would probably request this bldg. again; it had a nice quiet pool. The main pool was very crowded and a lot smaller than I remembered it from our first trip in 92. There was a short walk over a bridge and through a small island to the food court (very nice relaxing walk). The resort never felt crowded except at the main pool. Compared to the BC- the kids felt there was more for them to do at the CBR. At the BC the boardwalk games close around 11:00 p.m.; the main pool closed at 10. Our older boys liked to be out and about on their own (with a midnight curfew), but there was nothing for them to do besides the arcade. There are a lot of bars on the boardwalk, but of course you must be 21 and older. I really think a teen club would be great. It would give the 15-18 crowd something to do at night. Parks were moderately crowded. Not too bad. We usually go the last 2 weeks of Aug, and felt maybe the crowds were about the same. We did an e-night; that was more crowded than the previous e-nights we had done. From an adult point of view, the BC was nice. Mousekeeping was a little disappointing (candy on the bathroom floor when we checked-in, as well as a band-aid stuck to the floor. And there was a piece of tissue in between the sink area and toilet area on the floor with a blood stain on it; you know the kind when you nick your leg shaving-sort of gross-sorry! And there were whole shelled peanuts on the floor by the windows, under the drapes. There were also papers on the shelf in the closet from a previous guest staying there on the land/sea pkg. with all their info on it! When you stay deluxe you sort of expect a little more cleanliness. We didn't complain because it really wasn't a big deal; just not what you expect from a Disney hotel. Didn't harm our stay in any way. They were also painting the outside of the hotel, facing the lake/pool area. I asked to be moved because I thought it was construction, but was told it's only painting it won't be noisy! Well it was; 8 am weekday mornings they clanked their scaffolding tubes and shocked me out of bed! Some rooms had tarps over the scaffolding; not sure if guests were in these rooms but I certainly wouldn't stay in one! We asked for a full deck and got a small one, but did get the view we requested; side view of the lake/pool. Our room was right off the lobby entrance, water side. Next trip we would stay CBR over the BC, taking everything into consideration. HOpe this helps! Sorry this is so long!

Hi LoriZH!- we had a car, so the resort changing was not a problem for us. We let the kids stay asleep, and we went to the next hotel early a.m. to check us in. We live out of our suitcases (we never put things in dressers) I just iron or hang-up the next days clothes. I guess for your hotel changing it would depend on where you are staying for the times you should leave. You can check-in very early; that wouldn't be a problem. If you don't have a car you'd have to check the Disney transp. for times and location to get a bus to that resort. Changing hotels is never a problem for us; we do it all the time. Have even used Disney luggage to transfer and have never had a problem. Just have your clothes picked-out the night before and suitcases packed so you'll be ready to go. This will help the morning rush a lot. Let me know which hotels you are leaving/checking-in and maybe I can give you better advice.

Thanks for the welcome backs! Wish we were still there!;)

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!:p

We stayed in the Jamaica village on our last stay at CBR...we too loved it! I'm sorry your request wasn't granted...but I'm glad to here you enjoyed Jamiaca...I'm hoping for that village for our next trip!
I ask about the comparrison (BC vs CBR) as we were slated to stay at the yacht club this trip...but due to some recent issues...we were forced to change to a moderate:( ...
I guess I'm somewhat glad that you "favored" the CBR over the BC...I'm brining my daughter and her best friend (both 16) and your review could not have been more perfect....

My next question would have to be...
what did your older boys end up doing at night?
Did they ever go off on there own...both at night and during the day? I want the girls to have some freedom....but not sure what they can do?

thank you again for your reply...

I am so glad you posted this review... we are staying at the CBR very soon and recently have heard some horrid reviews of the place (not from the DIS Boards but from a few co-workers of my husband's who travel to disney several times a year). We even thought about switching over to the CSR but I think we will stay put and give the CBR a try. We are a little nervous as this is our first trip to WDW but for us a deluxe was not an option this time around.

It is a little dissapointing to learn the pool bar closes early. DH and I like to sit by the pool or outside with a drink to wind down on vacation. I guess since we will have a rental car we will make a stop at the grocery and buy a cooler and make our own bar!

Did you happen to try Shutters? Most of our evening meals will be at different resort restaurants and we are trying to decide if we should give it a try.

Thanks for any additional info you can provide!

Hi PugLover! We stayed at CSR on a previous trip and highly recommend CBR over this resort. I really don't think you have to be in a deluxe resort to enjoy your stay, either. The CBR also has privacy curtains for the bathroom area. What a great idea they are! I don't know why all the hotels don't have them! I know the rooms were recently re-done, but the carpet was a surprise in our room. There were BIG stains as well as a sticky spot between the 2 beds, which everytime I got out of bed I stepped in it! Not a big deal, but the carpet sure took a beating in our room (previously; not us!). But we still love this resort! I don't know what time the pool bar closes; we were never around at night. But we did have frozen drinks during the day! Yummy! We had a cooler in our room. Brought 3 cases of water down with us and bought beer while in WDW in the gift shops. An interesting note my DH and another man noticed; the beer in the gift shop is cheaper than the beer in the food court store (deli type store-bottles and cans!) They both found this funny; like they found the big bargain in Disney! We did not eat at Shutters, sorry! Any other questions, just ask!

Hi boston-yachter! We brought DS's BF also! It was a lot of fun to have him with us. At the CBR, they had their own room, so they loved that! We had pizza delivered late one night after a day at the parks so they ate in their rooms and watched tv; they thought that was great! The 2nd night we did an e-night and got back to the room 3:30 a.m.! (bus problem; I'll post that on my trip report!) We only stayed at CBR for 2 nights, so that was it on their night entertainment there. At the BC they went to the arcade, walked to boardwalk, and came back bored because everything closed and there was nothing to do! We liked to have them back at the room around 12:00. They bumped into 2 schoolmates at Epcot who were staying at the ASSp and they came back to our hotel that night and walked around the boardwalk and we drove them back to their hotel around 12:30. We fully expected to be "ditched" by the boys during the day, but they wanted to stay with us; go figure! We even gave them room charging keys in case they wanted to go off, but they didn't! When we would return to the hotels at night (if it wasn't too late!) they would wander off and do whatever was available. At ASMo they also had their own room, and stayed up late watching tv after the arcade our first night there. The next morning we couldn't get them on the phone (I even arranged a wake-up call for them!), they wouldn't answer the door (I told them to latch it from the inside so our key to their room wouldn't work!). I went into a panic after about 45 mins. because we were doing MK early entry! I didn't want to wake other guests up by banging constantly! But they did eventually hear us. For this reason I would definitely insist on a connecting room from now on! At CBR they rented bikes during the day and really liked that. They bumped into another schoolmate there as well! It is a Small World afterall! ;)

Another interesting note for CBR- almost all the windows in our bldg had towel animals! Our mousekeeper was a very nice lady! This is the only hotel this trip that we had towel animals, and we left mousekeeping envelopes every night!

Any other question, please ask away! I'm happy to help!

Thank you for your quick response yet again!:Pinkbounc :p

By any chance...did you happen to go to the food court at CBR? If so did you find it well done? I haven't seen the "newly" renovated food court there...was it easy to use?

ok and now I'll step away from the resort questions:rolleyes: ...lol...
-Did you guys happen to go to PI one night all together....and if so...was there enough for the boys to do? This is one thing that I have always wanted to do...
-Did you go to a waterpark? I've been reading the waterparks have been really crowded even at opening...did you happen to experience this? Was it horrible?

I just wanted to thank you again...as you've been extremely helpful! Your a real life saver buddy!:p

We are leaving Sunday for a week at the Poly. I was wondering how the crowds were. We haven't been to DW at the end of August since the children were very little. We have a 17 & 19 YO. They are looking forward to this trip. I think it is because we didn't have a family vacation last year. I think it would have been more fun if we let each child bring a friend but 2 rooms at the Poly was out of our budget. DH really is looking forward to our trip. I hope that the early park closings won't be too bothersome. I figure we will just have to adjust our clocks and deal.

You mentioned that you stayed at the CSR and didn't like it. What didn't you like?

Hi -
You said that you got up early and checked into your next resort. Did you just check in and then come back later with your luggage or did they actually have a room ready for you? We are switching for the first time and that is the day we have scheduled for Sea World, so I'm wondering what we should do. We will not get back from Sea World until about 4:00 or so. I was thinking it would be good to check in earlier than that. The morning strategy might be the answer. We would be able to keep our luggage in the car at Sea World all day and then just go right to our room in the afternoon. What do you think? We are going from the BC to the Poly.

Thanks for the nice report on CBR. We will be there in November. I'll share the beer price tip with my DH. In the resort gift shop can you buy bread, snacks, etc... Were your boys interested in the CBR arcade? Did your boys visit ESPN on the BW and if so do they have an arcade or is it just lots of TVs? I would really like to walk the BW for a late night but since we won't have a rental car to return to our resort I can't figure out how we are going to get back without the long resort to resort bus exchange. Any ideas? Your trip report has been inspiring. Thanks.
