Just back and I don't think Spectro is worth it.

Back from our 6th trip and IMHO I doubt if I will ever try to watch Spectro again. Since Spectro is only on Tues/Sat nights the MK was a ZOO! Tuesday was like Spring break with only one Spectro showing. We stood at the Main hub 1.25 hrs prior and people were really getting ugly towards the show time. I have never been pushed so much. People literally jumped over my 6yo head. Never agin at least NOT FROM THE MAIN HUB! If your going to watch it do it from Frontieer land and GOOD LUCK!!

We are leaving in a few days, and were planning on doing Spectro/Wishes on Sat night as we have 5:45 PSs at Crystal palace. I guess we'll have to see what the crowds are like. I'm the only one that really wants to see Spectro (DH and the boys could take it or leave it), so maybe we'll just skip it if it's going to be that crazy. Thanks for the heads up!

Oh, we love Spectro. :) Next time watch it down near Town Hall. That whole area around the entrance is much less congested than the hub.

I was not impressed with it either....Maybe my expectations were too high, and it is a mad house! I'm with ya...never again...too many other things to do. :wave2:

We adore Spectro, and we are not ones to sit for long waiting for something. We also hate crowds, and have always been at very busy times. Every time we've seen Spectro (3 so far) it's been from Frontierland. We've never had a problem seeing, the crowds were not bad at all there, and we didn't line up much ahead of time - maybe 20 or 30 minutes tops.

Frontieerland is where we usually watch but it didn't work out that way this time. I really think it was so miserable do to the cuts made to the Spectro viewings. Many around us were there because it was the only time it was showing during their stay. AK and Epcot were "normal" for this time of year but MK was nuts ALL DAY!. MGM earlier in the week 2/7was also over ran with cheerleaders but I knew that going into it.

I agree.... Spectro is not worth it to us. We liked The Main Street Electrical Parade better.

Crowds were light all week (1st week of Feb) this year, but after we had lunch at MK on a Saturday and came out of the restaurant it was a ZOO. Rides went from 5-10minute waits to 1 or 1 1/2 hour waits. DH wanted to park hop, but I really wanted to see the Spectro Parade once. Not that great. Wish we'd have went to Epcot or somewhere else.

If you want to watch it though, Frontierland didn't get crowded until right before the parade (good view too). I think the very best evening show is Fantasmic at MGM.

::yes:: I second that! ::yes:: I definitely miss the MSEP at Disney World's MK! Spectro is OK, I don't mind seeing it, but I also hate waiting around in a huge crowd for it to start. I'm not sure if I'll see it or not in a few weeks since it is only on one night that we're there!

A friend of mine described it as (and I quote): "A nightmare I never wish to relive." I've never seen it though. :p

I would have totally agreed with those of you who would rather skip Spectro after our May trip...whew! Now I know what it is meant by "mass of humanity"!! Couldn't see...pushing and jostling going on all around us...afraid to leave to go to the bathroom (thinking I would never see my family again). Needless to say, when I mentioned trying it out again in January, my family nearly rioted. However, this time, I found a nice spot on the curb on the hub about 1 1/2 hours ahead of parade time and my husband took the kids to the arcade in Tomorrowland. They came to join me about 1/2 hour before the parade and I have to say, the view, the night, the fireworks afterward...it was great! Now, granted, it was January...known for low crowds, anyway. But I wouldn't hesitate to do it again during a less crowded time...May, however...no way!!

Loved MSEP in 2000, and won't be doing Spectro again after seeing it in 2002.

Those lighted faces freak me out.

We saw it in Frontierland at Pecos Bill's, and the characters were practically RUNNING to the finish line, no interaction, barely a wave.

The Chernobog didn't open up like it was supposed to at the end, so we watched a big dark lump go past for that one.

It was VERY dark and hard to see anything other than the lights, so the people with lighted costumes were lost -- for example, all we could see was Snow White's dress! I think this part would have been better on Main Street, where there are some lights left on.

BRING BACK MSEP!

It doesn't open it's wings once it leaves Main Street because the wing span is too big.

We love Spectra Magic, one trip we didn't get to see it and we were so disappointed, I just love that parade.

I agree with it not being worth the hour to hour and a half wait to get the seats. If I cannot walk up and see it, I will use that time to my advantage and ride the rides with less lines. Until they change it, there really is no necessity of me seeing it again.

Really, after I've seen a parade once or twice, I don't need to see it again until it changes. IMO it is precious ride time that I am losing.

In November (I know, not a big crowd month - but it was during Jersey Week) we went to MK on Saturday night - had dinner at the Plaza Rest. about 7:00PM and then staked out a place for Wishes. When we came out of the Plaza the people were already 3 or 4 deep waiting for Spectro, so we were going to skip it and just find a good place for Wishes. After wishes we were going to go back to our hotel, but by the time we were exiting, we found that there were places right on the curb all up and down main street. We stayed, waited about 35 mins, and watched Spectro. I was awesome, and we didn't have to wait for hours.

WHOA - this thread is my worst nightmare come true. The reason I have never seen Sprectromagic is that I am completely adverse to crowds. I hate them with a passion.

We are going to WDW for ONE - yes that's ONE - day in our upcoming trip to Florida. That day is Thursday March 25th - an EE day for MK. We plan on doing an MK marathon - taking a break to eat over at 'Ohana's and then catch Spectromagic. I am freaked out by this and the crowds we are going to experience. I plan on seeing Wishes the night before when we arrive to get that out of the way so I can bolt out of the park after Spectromagic. I am very excited to see Spectromagic but I am completely freaked out by the idea that it is going to ruin the whole day by bringing in the crowds.

So - you all are telling me that its not worth it to kill yourself to get a spot to see it?

1. If you don't like crowds...you definitely are not going to like Spectromagic. Even if you find a place easily and not have to wait two hours.... getting out afterwards is like a cattle round-up...you can almost hear the mooing!:p

2. I have no idea what the crowds are like in March, but Early Entry days are usually the busiest day for that particular park.

3. I LOVE SpectroMagic (not as much as MSEP though), and I see it everytime I am there. I've been to WDW in May, July, Oct, Nov and Dec. and I've never had to "fight" for a spot or wait for 2 hours. But it is a madhouse after the parade is over.

wow i was planning on going to mk on sun and tues of our trip to see spectro but i hate crowds and i don't know if i have the patience to watch a parade anyway... hmmmm.... i hate lines.

We go to Frontierland and sit in the rocking chairs on the porch. It's not too crowded there.

Then when it ends, we wait about 1/2 an hour before even trying to leave. It is mad house trying to get out...especially if the park is closing right after.

I also hate crowds. I find them frightening. I would never try to get out before everyone left.

We rearranged our entire week in January in order to be sure we were at MK for Spectromagic. SO GLAD WE DID! Wouldn't change a thing! I loved it. We got our spots on the curb on Main street, up near the hub, about 1 1/2 hours before the parade. DH and DS took turns with DD and I running to get drinks and snacks and do potty runs. But it was well worth it in my opinion. Also, we had planned on skipping SaDCT parade, as we had seen it on our last visit, but at the last minute DD and I decided to go see it and I was so glad we did! It gives me that feeling of "Disney magic" when I see things like that.....................P
