We returned from the AK mid-day, with just enough time to go for a quick swim before dinner. The pool is beautiful and huge, and even though there were lots of people, it felt curiously intimate. The hot tubs are tucked away in little grottos. The pool has a great slide. We were the oldest kids in line for the slide by about 25 years. The little ones ahead of us were completely adorable. There were no adults supervising them, but they were all patient and well-versed in the rules, which they did not hesitate to share with us. After a few slides and a swim, we shared a Victoria Falls cocktail (yum!) at the poolside bar then returned to our room and dressed for our dinner at Boma.
Boma was phenomenal--an amusment park for foodies. I'll post a review soon in the dining forum.
After dinner, we went outside by the fire and listened to the storyteller. She was charming but only spoke for about five minutes. Then we walked all around the hotel, watching animals from various outlooks (there weren't very many on this particular evening--a CM said they were all sleeping out back
) We spent hours looking at the African art, taking in all the amazing design details of the building, sitting in the outdoor rocking chairs, watching people from the Victoria Falls lounge, snoozing by the indoor fireplace. The resort is so intriguing that we didn't want to stay in our room.
After a great night's sleep, we returned to Boma for breakfast and reluctantly checked out.
