We just got back yesterday from a week in California which included staying at the Paradies Pier for 6 nights and visiting DL and CA for 3 days.....
Don't go on a holiday! (I know, an obvious one
). Wednesday and Thursday we could virtually walk on to any ride. We never had more than a 10 minute wait for ANYTHING! Friday, Veteran's day, we had waits of 60-90 minutes per ride. Even with the park open until midnight, we didn't covre half of what we had done the day prior.
The FastPass for Indiana Jones is good all day! Yes, it says come back during a particular time window, but we were told, and tried it, that once you have it, you can use it anytime that day after your window!
The Parasdise Pier hotel, is a very nice, generic hotel. The rooms were comfortable, and reasonably clean, but thats it. With respect to Mickey, the room had one Mickey lamp on the bureau over teh TV, and that was it. The only other place you could find a hint of Mickey was on the soap wrappers!
Goofy's Kitchen for a character breakfast was fantastic!
They had a spread that beat some of the spreads I have seen at WDW. The only place at WDW I can compare it to was Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. EVen at that, there were more options and just "different" choices at Goofy's Kitchen. A definite winner.
A REAL BARGAIN.... if you are staying on property, buy the refillable plastic mug at the hotel. We happened to be at the Grand Californian for breakfast the first day and bought it there. For $7.99, you can refill it as much as you want, EVERY DAY with sodas, ice tea, coffee or hot chocolate! IF you are staying for any duration, this is certainly a great deal.
If you are using your Disney Visa, make sure you try to collect your purchases in each location and they are above $50. Most of the locations will give you 10% off your purchase provided your bill exceeds $50! Do it for less and you lose the discount! Sadly, we fell into that way too often.
If I can answer anything else... let me know. I'll try!
I do want to thank everyone on this board that helped prep me for the trip. The help was invaluable. You are all a great bunch! Many thanks!
---Paul, sadly, back in South Jersey!
