HI! just back from a week at the world! I won't go into great detail concerning our food court experiences (All Star Movies) other than to say it was enjoyable, for the most part, and that we made good use of the quick and casual vouchers. Now on to the more exciting stuff. R=Rachel P=Paul
Day 1 Rose and Crown
R+P: shared cheese and fruit platter---good
R: fish and chips---very good P: prime rib---very good
R+P: shared sticky toffee pudding. yummy!
We had a ps for 7:30 as to try to get a good spot for viewing Illuminations. We ended up sitting inside, which at first was a bummer because so many people with earlier seatings were camping out for the same reason. However, by five to nine the place cleared out and my boyfriend and I had almost the entire dining room to ourselves with the exception of a very nice family we met from the UK. Overall, a very nice time.
Day 2 Ohana's
Made this ps to celebrate my boyfriend's b-day since this is his favorite. We had the usual meal, it was delicious, the atmosphere was very nice, not too loud or overcrowded, enjoyed watching the kids do the coconut race!
Day 3 Universal Studios
usual counter service burgers, nothing to brag about here!
Day 4 Islands of Adventure (City Walk) Latin Quarter Restaurant
R+P: Queso Fundido with Shrimp ---this was ok, lots and lots of cheese, hardly any shrimp
R+P: Chicken and Steak Fajitas with rice and beans---this was also good but of the same quality as a Chi Chi's or any other chain restaurant I guess.
R+P: we each had two lemon and rasberry mojitos, a rum drink flavored with mint and fruit. I loved it but it was not to my boyfriend's liking quite as much. I have to say that this was a fatal food error!!! A day of hot sun+alcohol+mexican food. Oh my goodness! we were so tired, we hardly got to walk around City Walk! We had to go home to bed!
Day 5 SeaWorld Shark Underwater Grill
R+P: coconut chicken finger appetizer--bad, bad, bad. dry, burnt, yuck!!!
R: Salmon with Spicy Mashed Potatoes and Mixed Veggies--alright, I don't like food that is put in a spicy sauce or made spicy because of the true lack of flavor/quality(and I think that is what was going on here)
P: NY Strip steak with veggies and baked potato--he thought it was decent
R: Vanilla Napolean with caramel rum sauce. delicious, should have just ordered this
P: Brownie and Blondie ala mode with hot fudge. equally delicious
good thing I made a reservation in advance of our trip because many people were waiting up to two hours to get a table with out a reservation. this was one of our more pricy meals and neither of us would go back. the atmosphere is very nice, completely similar to coral reef in Epcot, I would recommend going there only if you are really into the atmosphere for maybe coffee and dessert because the food is not great.
Day 6 Beaches and Cream
Yes! the good old food standby that never fails to please!!!!!
we both had cheeseburgers and fries with cherry coke
P: Fudge Mud Sunday---another brownie ala mode thing
R: the No Way Jose---peanut butter and fudge sunday with vanilla and chocolate ice cream.
We didn't have to wait for more than five minutes and a couple of seats opened up at the counter. the rest is down hill from here. I specifically wore pants with an elastic waist band for this food experience and thank God I did! whoa! we went to e-ride after this and for some reason, the boat on Splash Mountain kept tipping to my side!!! hmmmmm...wonder why? Unfortunately, because of this food expereince I had to cancel my plans for a dolewhip, I couldn't even justify splitting one with my boyfriend, alas, I am losing my touch.
Day 7 Fulton's
R+P: calamari appetizer. very, very good. not rubbery, this was boyfriend's first calamari, so I am glad it was good.
R: Australian lobster tails with red potatoes and veggies. delicious, very nice, not overcooked at all.
P: filet mignon and a lobster tail with veggies and potato. very good.
this was our favorite meal, excluding Ohana's since that is a whole different expereince. the service was great. we had a reservation for 7 and got right in, at the time there was no wait for a table but things picked up between 8-8:30. I tried to convince the boyfriend that it we did have room for ice cream from ghiradelli's (sp?) but he shot me down, several times.
Ok. I'm done. would be happy to answer any questions. we also ate on the auto train if anyone is interested. ---rachel
