Just Back 8/13... APs are d.a.n.g.e.r.o.u.s!

APs definitely do some crazy things to otherwise seemingly normal people. We had it happen to us, too. One trip became two, became five. And we live in Vermont, so it's not just a matter of hopping in the car and taking off. This is the second year we are doing the AP thing, and now we are contemplating moving to Central Florida in a year or two. It helps that I have a DH that telecommutes and can work from anywhere, even if it means in the room at Pop Century.

Anything over a 2 hour drive would be a deal breaker for me.

I am 5 hours from Disneyland and we are usually AP holders with 3 or 4 trips a year. One of the kids in my class goes nearly once a month for 3-4 days. If its a holiday weekend, a school break or even the occasional missed day where she brings her work with her (last year she only missed 4 days of school all year so they still know where their priorities are) they are at Disney...and they bring me Disney gifts too :mickeyjum.

So we just moved from WI to Tallahassee, FL and 1 day after picking up the keys to our new apartment and a missed moving truck appointment (don't get me started on that) I told mom (who has never been to WDW, and came down to help us unpack) that we are 4 hours away, we can not, NOT go to Disney. So we drove the 4 hrs, my partner and I picked up our brand new FL Resident APs and I bought my mom a two day ticket with my Disney Visa Redemption card. Flash forward to last Saturday my partner gets home from work at 8pm says "You wanna go to Disney?" To which I reply, "We need to book a hotel and leave NOW, I'm not wasting the morning driving 4 hours"

This has all been in the span of 3 weeks. Plus we have our annual week long visit in October :)

Yikes!

Glad you had a great trip though
That place was in bad shape ten years or so ago when it was still a Best Western during one of my spur of the moment; because I have a 4 day weekend and an AP trips!

Good for you for just hopping in the car and taking off! Sounds like a great trip!

I'll let you in on something even more crazy... I'm going back next week. A couple weeks ago DW and figured we would take DS to WDW for a few days before he starts senior year of high school. Now if only I could find cheap flights!

We had APs twice. We did 3 trips on our first set and 4 on our second set. Each trip we drove - for us an 11 hour drive - one way. After the last trip we had Disney burnout.

How about a six hour plane flight?

We come from the West Coast and am planning our 4th trip in a year this November. We will get one more squeezed in before the pass ends in April.

AP's are VERY dangerous!

We drive 15 hours. Have done it either in one day or split it up. Wife is currently holding the only AP. We went in May, we go for Food and Wine (with the rest of the world it seems) in late September and then she is going in early April.

I love to drive, see the sights. Sitting in a car, behind the wheel is relaxing to me compared to every day life. Well, except for the one part called Atlanta! pirate:

I stayed there once and had the same experience. Not worth it! You can get a great deal at the Clarion Inn for about $20 more per night & it's totally worth it for those last minute trips.

Wow, but I'm very glad that there are people like you.

That's two strikes for me, driving and sitting.
