DH and I just got back for our trip
we had a great time.
We were on DDXDP and we feel that we got our money's worth and the fact it was paid for ahead of time is the biggest thing for DH.
I will try to keep it short and to the point. Sooo here we go!!
Fying Fish - This was our favortie meal, everything was spot on. DH - Filet cooked perfectly side were as well, I had potato wrap fish cooked perfect and they let me choose a different side offering. I did have a grape martini and I did order the 2nd one they were wonderful and did not have a strong taste. Dessert was so good. I had the pear upside down cake amazing and DH had some chocolate dessert that he ate every bite, I did get a small bite and it was to die for. Our server was Tracey, and was on her game.
Captains Grill - Breakfast - This meal was okay, we order off the menu, and it was okay, not bad but.. just not what you would expect from a Deluxe hotel restaurant. Our server was the best part of the meal,.
Tutto - We were seated on time, nice table, DH and I have never had a bad meal and this time was no different. Our server was great, and the food was very good, DH had calamari, lasagna, and chocolate torte, I had the motz and tomato salad, braised short ribs, with mashed potatoes and some kind of greens. The portions were very large to the point that we could not even begin to finish it all. I have to say that everything was cook and plated well. The only thing that I was not thrilled with was the greens, they were very spicy and full of the ribs or spines of the leaf. We took our dessert with us back to the resort as we were so full that we could not eat another bite. For dessert I had lemon cheesecake, and this was just not to my liking, when I order lemon anything I want to be able to taste the lemon, it was not there just sorta bland.
Tusker House - Breakfast with Donald. Typical buffet, the food was not as good as I remember it from the last trip. The Ham and roated red potatoes were the best offering, the fruit was fresh and the assortment of pastries was good. DH and I both felt that they had taken off quite a few items off the buffet. The Frunch was refreshing and our Server was very attentive.
California Grill - This was our biggest disapointment of the trip. The only thing that saved this meal was we were granted our request to sit at the window and we had a wonder veiw of the fireworks. For appetizers DH had a flat bread which was very good and I had california rolls, they to were good, but that's were it stoped. DH order the filet and it was flavorless and not a very good cut, very stringyand tough. I had the scallops there were 3, now if they were the large diver scallops but they were no bigger than a penny around, and the mush of whatever under them was horrible. DH had the chocolate lava cake, it was dry and had no chocolate lave in it, I had the pear and almond crumble it was good, hot and had ginger ice cream this was a good pairing. Now on to our server which was the worst service that we receivied all week. She was not friendly and could not remember a glass of water that I asked for twice, in fact another server did get it for me. She acted like she was doing us a favor by waiting on us. We order drinks, which took forever to get, she never stopped to see if our meal was okay. I think that this was our last trip to Cali Grill.
Crystal palace - This is our favorite buffet, omlets made to order were cooked perfectly and had a great selection for DH and I. I personally felt that they had a good selection of fresh fruit, and they had smoked salmon which it one of my fav's. Our server was very busy she had to very large parties with unruly kids, but did check on us and refill drinks.
Coral Reef - This was a pleasant suprise for us, I was a bit worried about this choice, as it does not normally get good reviews. But from start to finish it was wonderful. We were on the 2nd tier and had a wonderful view of the tank and a sea turtle put on a show for everyone, it was great. Our server was on his game as well, and we never lacked for anything.
Kona - Late breakfast - We both had steak and eggs, steak cooked to order, everything was hot and fresh, no complaints. Server was attentive, but very busy he seemed to have a lot of tables, all most like he was covering 2 sections, being a bartender and server in my earlier life you notice things like this, We only saw 4 servers for that whole restaurant. They were all running around, even the manager was busing tables and running food and such.
Teppan Edo - What a fun time, we had our 1st women grill chef, and I do have to say that she did a wonderful job, everything she prepared was very good, and she was warm and friendly. Try the scallops they are super yummy. Our service was wonderful and we enjoyed talking to our table mates as well as our servers who were more than happy to share a bit about their country. Wonderful evening..
Grand Floridian Cafe - We were seated by the window, nice way to dine for our last breakfast. Server was very friendly without hovering. I had eggs bendict that was the best breakfast of the trip for me. Dh had steak and eggs which he said was a toss up between here and Kona which was the best breakfast for him.
Raglan Road- a great way to end our trip, DH had shepards pie and I had a the Cashel Salad, yummy. Our server was good not great, but did keep our drinks refilled. Which was what we wanted.
Starlight Ray - chicken nuggets -- what can you say about chicken nuggets.
POFQ - We went back to the resort to rest and decide to grab something to eat, Dh had a burger and I had philly steak and cheese, made to order served with fries and they were both hot, everything was cook right then. no complaints,
