Just got back last night froma 4 night stay in a one bedroom at OKW, we were in 3725, second floor overlooking the 5th hole of the golf course. I did not know what to expect and the place was awsome!!!! This is the Turtle Pond area, very, very quiet. Monday night we saw fireworks in the distance, not sure where they were from. Loved having the laundry! I would definately go back, especially if we were doing more of a resort vacation and not a park vacation. Short stroll to the buses and to the pool. The only problem was getting back to OKW from The Poly, we were told by another guest to go to the TTC and grab a bus - NOT!!!! Got to the buses and were told to go up to the monorail, go to Epcot and wait for a bus to OKW, wasn't a problem, but we waited almost 30 mintues for a bus!! We did not eat at any of the places at OKW except for the Turtle Pond pool snack shack and it was good, just got a fruit plate and a chicken ceasar sandwich. WE took tiffany town car with no problems and they stopped at Goodings (only thing open at 12:00 at night) expensive, but we probably paid about 10.00 more than we should have, but that was all that was open at that time of night! Should close on my resale purchase at VWL in 2-3 weeks!!! can't wait to plan another trip!

Thanks for the great review. I have heard so many great reports about OKW in the past couple day - I am getting so excited!!!! How long did you wait for a bus to the parks in the am? Tonia

No wait at all for the parks, we only did MGM and MK, we also took the bus for Downtown Disney and no problem, OKW is usually the farthest walk to the buses, don't know why?? Seemed like there were direct buses from all the parks, but if you wonder out elsewhere, that's where it got difficult! But really no big deal, just hard lugging a 2 1/2 year old when I forgot the stroller in the garage when we left for the airport!!!!! WE rented the strollers at the parks and that was great, but the walks to the buses was a pain!!!

It can be difficult to use Disney transportation to go from resort to resort. We would have taken a bus from the Poly to Downtown Disney and then grabbed the OKW bus there, or taken the boat. With a little practice and trial and error, you can get from anywhere to anywhere without using that bloody Transportation Center.

In general, I have no problem with the WDW transportation, but if I am going from hotel to hotel, I usually take a cab rather than having to do all the switching and schlepping. It's usually not more than $5-$10, and it's worth it to me. Otherwise, you either have to do everything via the T&T Center or DD.

We just got back at 12am this morning and haven't even had the chance to post our experiences yet. Noticed your post, and since we stayed at OKW from 10/27-11/1 I had to read it.
Guess what??? We were in the same room....3725! We also were happy with the room. Would have preferred a water view, but they only had bottom floor available which I always try to avoid.
Our trip consisted of 3 different DVC resorts which we never experienced before, and enjoyed OKW very much. We had relatives staying at POR, and they were really WOWed by size of our room and the beauty of the resort.

Happy to hear that you all are enjoing OKW so much!

As a DVC'r who has stayed many a time at OKW, and one who up until less than 2 yrs ago, always came down to stay from up North and never rented a car while staying at OKW can tell you..........The easiest way to get from resort to resort that my family has found (without paying for a cab) is always to just hop a bus from the resort you are at to ANY OF THE THEME PARKS - and then grab the bus from that park to the resort you are trying to get to. Downtown Disney is the closet to OKW and is where it is usually recommended to go to transfer but I've found that sometimes it is just as fast to hop the first bus you see going to one of the parks because even though it may be a little longer of a trip distance wise to someplace other than Downtown Disney, it may take you 20 mins or more to wait for the right bus. At least this way it seems shorter too because you aren't just sitting at the bus stop wondering where the bus is. Keep in mind too that if you are going to any of the Magic Kingdom resorts from OKW, you can just go right to the MK and hop on the monorail. It took a while to get to these realizations, but I have to say it was SOOoo much fun practicing!

Of course if you have the money, nothing beats taking a cab as far as time goes.
