Just an idea ... help needed

We have booked for next aug 2 weeks,

Just thinking about extending it to 3,

My idea is to have a week in a cheap hotel on idrive do universal, sea world, bush garden shopping, then go to our booking at OKW and to our original booking and DISNEY.

Our booking is with travel city, and idea if they would let us do this?

ANy idea on the cost and suggestions of a cheap(nice ish) hotel

Thanks every one :wizard:

Rosen inn pointe orlando is great for the price and location great - free wifi, fridge etc

We stayed there for 4 nights before going onsite for 14 nights in 2009 and it worked well.

If you have booked a package there is not a lot we can say on costs. You are tied to what they say.
I can tell you you can get somewhere like Econolodge Inn & Suites (formerly Best Western) for £19.78 (after 6% Quidco) which would be £138 for the week but TCD will no doubt charge you double for the room, possibly more for the different flight and a fee for changing. The £138 cost for DIY room only could easily change into a lot of money by a TA. Only way to know is ring and ask what your options are.

You might be better ringing and asking what options you have then coming back with what they offer. A tour op usually has a limited list of hotel options.

Yer will give them a ring after work. Sort of wish we went DIY now but got a good deal with them. Hope it's not too much. Fingers crossed.

Spoke to TCD today and they come one with this

Extra 5 days

B&B at http://www.enclavesuites.com/ for an extra £250 that includes all the charges and every thing. I really don't think that is a bad price for 2 people. Any one ever stayed here?

Thanks all

Never stayed there but know where it is - location is very good - lots of the popular restaurants like olive garden and bahama breeze nearby.

It does look at good price and the reviews look good.

A quick question about car hire we will want to hire one for the first 6 days before we head off to OKW.

What do you think the best way to do this would be? If we pick it up from the airport after we land will we then have to return it to the airport, we could then get DME from there to the airport?

Or are we able to pick it up from the airport and drop it off at disney?

Thanks again to every one for all there help 14 days just turned in to 19 :thumbsup2

There are a few drop off points around Disney.
Easiest for you could be with Dollar, collect at airport then drop here opp DTD http://www.wyndhamlakebuenavista.com/ just walk across the road to get bus back to OKW, or walk the whole way if you feel energetic.
Another is Alamo at Car care centre.
Some do a collection/drop off but never used this service myself.

In 2009 we had 4 days offsite at rosen inn and hired a car from dollar at mco.

On the day we checked into disney - we drove to disney to check in and drop our cases off. The room was ready but if not they can safely store your luggage. We then drove to the airport and returned the car.

I'd booked us onto magic express as though we were arriving on the monday flight. Nothing was said about our lack of luggage!

This worked well.

We have also hired from alamo at the disney care care centre aswell. This is based near MK. You could probably hire from alamo at mco then return to car care cenre. They will then drop you at OKW or a park in the little alamo shuttle bus.

All booked now going for an extra 5 day YAY :thumbsup2

Think we will be dropping the car off at disney. One last question are we able to book the DME return trip when we drive or do we have to do that before we go?

Thanks again every one:thumbsup2

Update-
Just had a little look with Alamo and Dolla its £220 to hire it for 6 days and drop the car off at disney.

To hire from Atlas Choice 6 days but drop off at the airport is only £120

really confused now.

after talking to TCD it really depends who you get as to how much they understand. To add the 5 days today i was quoted any where from neally 4000 to 300 madness.

One final question the person i spoke to said the plane would be a new A333 but after looking out our seats its the old 747. We are on flight VS073 from man.

Always the same with Tour Ops/Travel agents it depends who you talk to.

We are flying out in July on the VS075 which is the new plane.

Do you think if the seat plan says 747 it will be that any chance of them changing it.

Thanks Wayne we now want car hire from the 10-16 added an extra 6 days as we could only get the later flight. If we wanted the 11:00 flight it was an extra £600.

So from the 10th about 6:00pm I think then drop off some where in Disney or abround there (like the hotel you sergested)

Thanks Wayne and everyone.

There's no way to tell in advance

For example, I was to fly from Newark to Orlando, on Continental. I booked a flight and the seat plan showed a 757. A few weeks ago I got a mail saying that the flight plan had been changed and we would now fly a 737 (same flight number, same schedule)

So who knows, but I wouldn't count on that

Would be very surprised if they changed it but always possible.

6 days car rental is always annoying to me as you pay for 7. If you get a quote for 6 days or 7 days its always the same price. We will be renting 6 days also next July before we return it for a larger 7 seater when relatives arrive.

I am hoping prices drop for next summer yet, best I can see for you is thru this http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/othe...e/734198-holidayautos-discount-worldwide.html
It explains how to get a discount and cashback, I did it last year, you have to follow the instructions as described in post #3.
That would get you a car from Orlando Int to one of the drop off points in Disney for £106 less 8% Quidco = £98 approx
You would need to remove TDEW which they auto add, I would add Max at £27 to get tank of gas (and additional drivers if you need)

Will have another quick look see if any other deals around.

Hertz using AA code 504335 would be £110 less 6% Quidco but I think nearest Hertz drop off is Hilton Bonnet Creek unless anyone knows nearer.
