Just added room request. Am I too late?

We check in at SSR this coming Sunday. I called MS this morning and added a room location request to my reservation. Am I too late? Does SSR already have my original room ressie in their system? How and when are the rooms assigned at SSR. Am I just too late to have any chance of getting the location I prefer?? I know I should have made the request at booking, but to be honest, I waitlisted for another location and I was SOOOO hopeful it would come through that I didn't foscus on the SSR ressie.

I don't believe it is too late, or MS would not have taken your request. The resorts don't receive DVC info until a day or two prior.

Depending on what your request is, you may have a very good chance at it. If it is general such as Congress Park location you should be fine. If it is very specific such as a particular villa, floor, and view location it will be more difficult to fulfill.

It was just a general location. With the main pool closed, I requested to be in the Grandstand area - that pool looks great for the kids and being in walking distance is a ++! Given that the main pool is closed, I expect the requests for other areas are high. That's ok. Whatever we get, we get! We'll be at WDW after all!!

How rooms actually get assigned is somewhat of a mystery and booking early does not appear to mean anything as to getting a request. My personal guess it is probably something actually done the morning of the day you arrive and whether you get a request for an area depends on: (a) that a room or more in that area will actually become vacant that day, (b) how many for the same day have a similar request and where you are in order on probably a random list created to assign rooms for the day. The problem you likely face is that grandstand area is a popular request and thus (a) there might be no one moving out of those particular rooms the day you arrive, or (b) your name will just be behind others who have made the same request for that day.

I did make a few room requests when I booked my reservation at the 11month window but they did not show on the written confirmation of my booking. Is this normal or should I call MS to check my room requests?
