steph please let me know how your healing goes
I am considering a tummy tuck in June but have a trip to WDW scheduled and paid for in August so I would like to know if 6 to 8 weeks is a good time to go on our trip or if I should wait for surgery...I want to feel normal for our trip.
thanks
and I hope your recovery gets better!!
do you mind me asking a personal question?
do not answer if you do not feel like it but...
you look very thin in your pics...what made you decided to get a tuck??
I had c sections and lost 40 pounds so mine is very saggy and stretched
thanks in adavance
can anyone tell me if they can or do get rid of the stretch marks if you had any before??
also did youe insurance pay for any and if not how much cost was invloved in the tuck??
thanks for helping me find answers
I am thin, but I've given birth to four kids. I had a mini-tuck due to excess loose skin and lots of stretch marks. Everything from my belly button down looked like a raisin, and it would hang over my pants and underwear. I didn't have lipo, very minimal fat removed. My surgeon also tightened my muscles (they were split from having four kids). I can't imagine feeling even somewhat back to normal for a couple more weeks, and I only had a mini! If you plan on having a full TT in June (as long as it's early June), you should be able to make the trip in August but you will probably still be in recovery mode and not 100%. Everyone heals so differently though so it's really hard to tell! An excellent site I found for information is this one:
http://www.yestheyrefake.net/
It's a really funny name, but it's one of the best sites I've found on the net for cosmetic surgery info. Go to the message boards, and there is a forum for abdominoplasty. It's a board full of ladies who have had TT's, and they love to answer any and all questions about the procedure and recovery! You can also read personal journals, and see before and after pics. I wish I had found it before I had my surgery, I might not have looked at this with rose colored glasses!
A tuck does not always remove all the stretch marks. It really depends on how high your marks are. My doctor couldn't remove the ones from my belly buttton on up, but they are so stretched downwards that they aren't nearly as noticeable. The scar I have is hip to hip, but very thin and low enough where even a skimpy swimsuit should cover it. I'm still puffy and swollen, but I love my new belly! I also have to wear a compression binder for up to 6 weeks to keep the swelling down, and you will have to as well. My insurance did not pay for any of this as it was entirely elective, however in some cases insurance will cover the surgery. Usually this is only happens if the extra skin is causing health or hygiene problems, which probably isn't likely in your case. I also had to pay for my own prescriptions and bloodwork, which ran an additional $260. I had both a breast augmentation and tuck. The tuck cost around $4500.
I'm 7 days post op, and miserable. I won't lie - it's painful, and I have a pretty high pain tolerance. Taking my pain meds before the pain gets bad has helped, but walking hunched over has killed my back. I have to sleep sitting upright for a couple of weeks, and I finally got to take my first shower today. (THAT was an ordeal!). I have drains (those come out Monday but for some they can stay in up to 3 weeks). It's not like those tv shows where you walk in and walk out a week later looking fabulous! I'm also getting the blues because I'm so laid up and can't do anything. Apprently post surgery depression is normal too. I even had to hire someone to come clean my house today because I can't get it done. Just plan on having someone 24/7 for at least a week or two to help you out when you do this! I know it seems like I have nothing positive to say about the recovery process, but I know that once the pain and swelling go away, and my body gets back to normal, I will think that it was all worth it. Good luck with everything and please keep me updated on how it goes!
