Just got back about a week ago from POR. IT WAS GREAT!!! We had a 3rd story room in OAK MANOR-so close to the food area and the main pool AND had a quiet pool at our building. It was clean and housekeeping was great. I had no complaints. We took the boat to DTD some nights and it was easy and stress free. This time in Sept was ALOT more crowded than what we are used to (we have been going every Sept since 1998 when we went on our honeymoon). The only thing that freaked me out at POR was the tree frogs! I hate hate hate frogs!!! ha ha ha ha! The CM who was driving the boat to DTD was telling everyone about the "critters" you see and she said the only thing she is deathly afraid of are tree frogs! One landed right on her face a few nights earlier...she said she screamed so loud and jumped around so much that her glasses flew off her face....needless to say I was PETRIFIED!! DId not see any....UNTIL.....our last night........we were walking back up to our room and my DH does a little jump and says what was that.....a tree frog has jumped and landed on his leg and STUCK to it.....now my feet hurt and I had blisters from a week or walking around the world....but I never RAN so fast in my life down that hall to my room as I did that night....DH said he never saw me run so fast in my life!!!!!:lmao:

But really-POR was GREAT! Don't shy away from it for "negative" posts.....we had a great time, saw friendly CM's, got a great room (exactly what we wanted) and found it CLEAN and had a great time.......Any questions let me know!!!!princess:

So glad to hear a positive report on POR. We are staying for the first time in only 24 days! We are hoping the crowd levels at the parks won't be too bad, but we are really looking forward to our stay at POR. How was the food at the food court? How were the busses? If you have any pictures of the resort, please post them! I would love to see them! Gets me so excited to hear and see things about this resort every time I see a thread!! Our visit is getting so close now!!!:goodvibes

Have fun in 24 days on your trip...I will post some pics later on to show you how it looks. We enjoyed the foodcourt...alot of the food was basic WDW food.....pizza, chicken strips, hamburgers, they did have a great carving station that we saw it looked yummy but with the dining plan we never got a chance to use it....they were alot of yummy desserts at the bakery too....no wonder I gained weight on vacation!!! ha ha ha!

We did not use the buses...we rented a car. We saw that the line for the buses were LONG....but the only Disney transporation we took was the boat to DTD-we just find renting a car to be better for us.

When we checked in they had us assigned to the bayou section and when we said we requested Mansions with our travel agent the CM was MORE than helpful and got us a GREAT room-it was really clean and great location!

I started to get nervous BEFORE the trip reading all the negative posts but we found POR great and already said we'd stay there again for our next trip to the world!

Don't forget to hit the hot tub!! It was so relaxing! The main pool could get busy but the crowds were higher than we normally get in Sept but when you go in Oct hopefully it will be great!!!!
