Just a vent...

What about Gap or Banana Republic? If you hit them just right, during a sale, their prices aren't too bad and their size 2's have always fit me really well. Kohl's does carry some size 2's, but the regular length is always too long & the short length is too short for me and I do try them with all different types of shoes.

I'm a petite size 2 as well and if you ask me, clothes manufacturers are making smaller sizes fit larger now. I've always worn size 2's & 4's but now even size 2's seem baggy on me and I'm the same size I've been since college - except for a little wider in the hips after 2 pregnancies. Which you would think would make size 2's a little snug instead of baggy, but nope, they're baggy! Good luck OP!

I have had very good luck finding small sizes at express, They start at size 00! Short, Normal and Long lengths. Just wait for sales because I've bought jeans there and then next week its buy one get one 50% off. They have great slacks at least they've had them in the past.

Thank y'all all for the great replies. I will be checking out all of these places, at least online.

I second spending a little more on investing in a few nicer pairs that won't fade or fall apart. And nicer-made trousers just look better on the body (I think).

I wear a 4 (tall though, not petite), and my dress pants are mostly from The Limited and Express, and some other department-store designers like BCBG and Antonio Melani. Almost all of them I got on clearance for the same price I'd pay at somewhere like Gap (but more than Target!). It is SOOO worth taking them to the tailor to get them to fit right.

Also - I have a lot of dress clothes/pants that I got at consignment stores. I don't know where you live, but we have a couple of consignment stores where you can get very nice, high-end clothes in excellent condition for very cheap.

I get my dress pants from the Gap. They have some nice, classic styles that fit my body well and come in small sizes. I find their sizes run kind of large but they go right down to a 0.:thumbsup2 Banana Republic also has some really nice ones that are a bit pricier, but I often get coupon emails for 30% off if you register with them online.

I know how frustrating it can be to find pants that fit correctly. So many companies seem to be cutting sizes larger and larger and while that works for some customers, I can find it frustrating! I am slim but not super skinny and find it strange that there are size 2 pants that are too big for me! I don't think this was the case a few years ago.

Please let me start out by saying that I usually don't come on here to vent, I'm very blessed that I don't have a whole lot of drama in my day to day life.

But, OMG!!! Can I not find slacks to fit me!!!! I'm a size 2 in the majority of the pants. I can keep up size 4s and a few 6s, but I look like I'm swimming in them!!! I just got back from Wal-mart (I know, I know, but it's where I get all of my meds) and I could not locate one single pair of slacks in a size 2... any-where's. I guess I'm making a trip to Target tomorrow and hope for the best.

I know there could be worst things that could be going on. I've been every size from 2 up to 16 at one time or another. I know I could go to the Jrs section but they only had cargo style and that doesn't work for the office. If you've lasted this long, thanks and it's ok if you sit and laugh at me. I know it's a pretty dumb think to vent about, I just would love to have slacks that fit me. Oh, and I won't even get into the in between petite and regular length problems.

Anyone has any suggestions on where I can find some dress pants that won't cost a small fortune?

Sears carries Land's End. They have tailored kakhi's that are pretty reasonable.

I'm inbetween a 2 and 4, and right on the line between petite and regular so I feel your pain. I've found that Old Navy's petite line (only online sadly) is pretty good. I also shop the sales at Ann Tayor and LOFT. New York and Company has good stuff, as does INC. I think you can get those at Macys or some similar places.

Again, thanks everyone for the great replies. I see a shopping trip in the near future!!! I'm going to make a list of all the stores that y'all mentioned to check out.

I understand the problems you are having. I went from a 22w to a misses 2 or 4. Depending on the store. Basically, I have 2,4,6 in my closet. Because I am not proportioned correctly, I have a hard time trying to find pants that don't gap out in the waist. I always have luck for khakis and jeans at eddie bauer. Ann Taylor has some great fits as well.

It's hard to find clothes....but most of my problems are with tops!!! Good luck on shopping. It can get discouraging, but just hop from store to store!

Try White House/Black Market...they have 00, 0, 2, 4 and up...and all VERY smart looking clothing. Granted, they're a bit on the expensive side, but IMO, they're SUPER comfy!

Good luck-and glad you have a sense of humor-no one else seems to!!

I've found Ltd too and Old Navy have the best selection....I'm currently a 6 in the hip area but a 4 in the waist. Thankyouverymuch to my DD. :rotfl:

Sorry you ca't find anything. People don't believe it, but its frusturating to not find anything that fits right, no matter what size you are.

Good luck!

I used to really like Old Navy's slacks but I haven't bought any in years since I changed jobs.

Editor Slacks at Express have a nice fit and wear well, but they are somewhat pricey.

I know at Abercrombie and Fitch the sizes only go up to a size 10 or maybe 12. I can't shop there because they don't have clothes that fit me, but they definetly cater to people on the petite side.

Okay, just checked the website and they don't really have any pants that aren't cargo or jeans. Never mind then! :lmao:

As for other stores, Express and New York and Company is good for all sorts of pants in all sorts of sizes :thumbsup2

I tend to have the opposite problem when I shop. I usually only shop clearance because I don't have a ton of money right now, and seems that all that are left on the clearance racks are sizes 2 or 4 or 6 :confused3. I'm a size 12 to 14 so apparently those sizes are a lot more popular in the stores I shop at...maybe you should come shopping with me, you'd find everything you need and save money!! :rotfl::laughing:
