Just a silly little TR - Run Away!!

:scared:

As long as you didn't break your glass sculpture...

I am soooo tempted to say I broke my... something that rhymes with 'glass'. But I didn't, so I won't.

My guess is she's going to be the one standing to right of the photo, with both arms up in the air. She's doing the Y to YMCA.

ymca.gif

1. :lmao: at the smileys.
2. I won't confirm or deny anybody's guesses for a bit.

What??????????

What, what??????????

Amazing. The place was packed with some of the nicest glass sculptures I’d seen…
And there, sitting on a shelf was the $259 (+tax) wave sculpture that I wanted.
“Hey! They’re selling these same sculptures up on the main street. I was told that the artist is a local from around here.”
“Yeah,” the guy responds. “I made it.”
Apparently, the guy by the pickup was the artist that made all the glass work in the shop.

I asked what he wanted for the sculpture.

“$200”
“Can you come down from that at all?”
“$200 and no tax.”
“Sold.”

So I wound up with the sculpture I liked… for $70 bucks less than on the main drag and I got to meet the artist who engraved the bottom of the sculpture with his signature. Cool!

In Laura's last chapter, she wondered who buys art on vacation. I think we found him!!!!!!!!!!!

So how did the surfing go? Well you’ll just have to wait for the next chapter to find out, won’t you?
You already know that we don’t drift off to foreign lands… but…

Someone gets hurt.

Oh, relax. It’s not Elle or Kay. It’s certainly not Ruby, happy as a clam on the beach.

Um… that leaves…

Oh no! Say it isn't so..... :scared: You pulled a Nebo? You got Nebo'd? You Nebo'd yourself on vacation? Pick whichever one sounds funniest. :wave2:

Boy alot happens in a few days around here.
I think you should send a scathing e-mail to the organizers of the event. Go above Barbie's head. You may not get the medal but some one should know about this other than Barbie and friends. That is just not ok for them to work that hard and not get a medal.
I am so glad you found the actual artist to buy your art from. Beng the mother of an artist I know that they like to meet the folks who appreciate their work. My kid really likes the street painting for that reason. She gets to meet and talk to people while she is doing it. She won't be doing anymore this summer and I pulled out of one at the end of the month due to health issues and upcomming surgery for DH. But she did do well enough to submit for Disney's festival so maybe she will throw her hat in the ring for that one. That would be a fun way to justify a WDW trip/
My guess for the pic is that she is the one in the light green outfit with her hair pulled back.... :rotfl:

A few people asked for video of Elle's dancing. I don't have any. I do have a DVD of her performances but no easy tiny clips to put on photobucket.
But here's a shot of the end pose from their gold winning jazz number. I was going to point out Elle, but we'll see how observant the readers are. :)

garden5678.jpg

As I look at the picture, she is to my right, near the center of the picture, crouching down with her left knee on the floor. To her right is a young lady with both arms extended and directly behind her is a young lady in a "Spiderman like" pose. ;)

I could be wrong, but that's my best guess.

Dun, dun dun!!!

Pkondz, you didn't pull a Nebo! Say it isn't so!!! :worried:

I'll be back to post more later, as in tomorrow.

Great chapter!! I don't want your TR to end!!! :(

call me stupid, but how do you get that glass sculpture home? do you sit it on your lap on the plane, and tell the person in front of you to not recline?

does the original artist with the "no tax, out the door" deal UPS it to you?

why didn't you just bring nebo with you to break it right away and be done with it?:rotfl:

and, is it bad if I say "I can't wait to hear how you hurt yourself"?:rotfl2:

Now I'm a little verklempt. Tawk amongst yourselves.

I'm glad that it meant something to you, I really meant it.

Don't expect me to be nice all of the time now though.

Great update! I'm so glad that you got your sculpture, and that you met the artist! That's awesome. I'm with Smidgy though, how the heck did you get that home?

I can't wait to hear how you pulled a Nebo. Maybe if you and Nebo ever travel together the TR could be called Ponzerooni and Nebo Go To The Hospital?

In Laura's last chapter, she wondered who buys art on vacation. I think we found him!!!!!!!!!!!

:sad2:And this is what I posted on her TR:
pkondz said:
Is there really somebody out there that thinks, "Hmm. I need some art for the vestibule, perhaps a visit to a hotel in Disney World is in order."

But I still don't go on vacation to buy art. And certainly not at a Disney hotel... or any hotel.

But darn it! I couldn't resist!

Oh no! Say it isn't so..... :scared: You pulled a Nebo? You got Nebo'd? You Nebo'd yourself on vacation? Pick whichever one sounds funniest. :wave2:

I believe the correct nomenclature is "pulled a Nebo" however I prefer to say "I paid a visit to the Neborium".

Boy alot happens in a few days around here.

That's just me. Nothing for weeks on end... then... BAM!

I think you should send a scathing e-mail to the organizers of the event. Go above Barbie's head. You may not get the medal but some one should know about this other than Barbie and friends. That is just not ok for them to work that hard and not get a medal.

I actually thought of that... But it's not my butt in the sling when the sheep hits the fan, it's Elle's. I reigned in my seething hot anger and will be sending a polite email to her dance school director requesting she contact the organizers and see if she can get her the medal.

I am so glad you found the actual artist to buy your art from. Beng the mother of an artist I know that they like to meet the folks who appreciate their work. My kid really likes the street painting for that reason. She gets to meet and talk to people while she is doing it. I knew about your daughter, but not about you being an artist. Care to post a link or some samples? I'd love to see some. :)

My guess for the pic is that she is the one in the light green outfit with her hair pulled back.... :rotfl:

Yup. She also is posing!

As I look at the picture, she is to my right, near the center of the picture, crouching down with her left knee on the floor. To her right is a young lady with both arms extended and directly behind her is a young lady in a "Spiderman like" pose. ;)

I could be wrong, but that's my best guess.

Guess noted.... and I'm not sayin' more!

Dun, dun dun!!!

Pkondz, you didn't pull a Nebo! Say it isn't so!!! :worried:

I'll be back to post more later, as in tomorrow.

Great chapter!! I don't want your TR to end!!! :(

You don't want it to end? What, are you a sucker for punishment or something?

call me stupid,

Nope. I reserve the scathing name calling for your husband.

but how do you get that glass sculpture home? do you sit it on your lap on the plane, and tell the person in front of you to not recline?

It never occurred to me that there'd be this much interest in how I got this thing home.

why didn't you just bring nebo with you to break it right away and be done with it?:rotfl:

:lmao: I can say that it made it home in one piece.

and, is it bad if I say "I can't wait to hear how you hurt yourself"?:rotfl2:

You're just happy that it happens to someone else for a change, aren't you?

I'm glad that it meant something to you, I really meant it.

It did. ::yes::

Don't expect me to be nice all of the time now though.

Wouldn't have it any other way Shanoopie.

Great update! I'm so glad that you got your sculpture, and that you met the artist! That's awesome. I'm with Smidgy though, how the heck did you get that home?

All will be reviled.

revealed.

I can't wait to hear how you pulled a Nebo. Maybe if you and Nebo ever travel together the TR could be called Ponzerooni and Nebo Go To The Hospital?

Uh, oh. Looks like I've unleashed the bloodthirstiness in everyone.

Elle is the fourth from the right in the back with both arms in the air.

My name is O Kitty and I watch Dance Moms...

Wow! I've been gone a little while. As you would say Ponzi, work is making me work!

I haven't read your latest chapter yet but just saw what happened to you with the dance competition. They should be ashamed of themselves. They shouldn't have run out of medals, but given that they did they should order more and send them to your home.

Also, a shame about the limo. It was a really thoughtful idea and it's too bad that it was ruined.

Also, I know I offered you my husband's man card, but his was taken from him the other night when we made him watch Prom.

Wow! Surfing in the open ocean! You and the girls really know how to have an adventure!:thumbsup2 Cool that you actually bought the art you were admiring. I usually consider it, then get practical. Meeting the artist made the souvie even more special!

I can't see which girl is Elle, yet - I need to come bak when I have my glasses on.:3dglasses

It’s here.

The day everyone dreads.

The last day.

And it always comes so quickly. It probably seems like yesterday that you were checking in, exploring the resort and rich with a full week of vacation days ahead of you.

we have this unshakeable belief that we can somehow squeeze more into them now, then when we first got here.

I guess unshakable is the operative word considering your future purchase.

So what does Ruby want to do on this her last day in Hawaii? She wants to go up to the north shore and see Hale’iwa and she wants to watch us surf.

Okay.

No, I didn’t twist her arm; it’s what she wanted to do. She didn’t want to surf herself, but she did want to see us doing it. Hey! Don’t look at me. I just married her. I don’t have to understand her.

What's so hard to understand? She wants to watch her family, the people she loves, show off their new surfing skills. And my guess is that she doesn't feel like getting her hair wet.

“Well, okay. In that case, what I’d like is to be able to understand women.”
“So.” The Genie replies. “This bridge, did you want two lanes or four?”

Oh please. We are SO easy to understand.

I’d heard of and seen a place called Kua’aina. It was a burger and sandwich shop. I only took one picture inside, though:

More Hawaiian burgers?

I’m pretty sure she had Ahi instead, but not positive. What I am positive about is that it was absolutely amazing. One of the best fish dishes I’ve ever tasted. I’m kind of sorry now (then too) that I didn’t order one for myself.

Well, ok then.

Ah, well. Next time.

When we exited the restaurant, we saw this little guy sitting on the front step. Made me immediately think of WDW.

That's pretty cool looking. It looks plastic.

As I’m waiting, I see a small cardboard sign propped up on the sidewalk that says “Glass” with an arrow pointing around the corner.

Where's Nebo?

I like glass sculptures and I decide to take a peak. Around the corner is a guy standing beside a pickup truck with 3 or 4 glass vases on it.

Glass is still intact. I guess he hasn't been there.

Did you know the word ‘vase’ can be correctly pronounced three ways? Vaize (like faze), Vaws (like jaws) or vace (like face).

I'm sitting here trying to think of which way I pronounce it and I think I use all three. Not sure why.

“Sold.”

Cool! And not a bad price for original art. Are you going to post a photo?

So, you're one of those art buyers, huh?

But I’m careful. And I pull into a spot and park unscathed.

Yes, you've got be careful with that new glass purchase, er, your loved ones.

She sees me looking at her and asks, “Do you want surfing lessons?”

Why, yes. You seem like someone I can trust to provide comprehensive and safety first surf lessons! :sad2:

:lmao:

Carol introduces us to another lady named Christy. She says that due to the strong winds and current, Christy will be helping us out in the water.
“When you paddle out, try to angle to the right of Christy, because the current will push you to the left. If you don’t, you’ll get pulled out by the current and the next place you’ll see is the next island, Kauai.”

That's it. I'd be heading back. I mean if I were actually one to go out there in the first place.

Nope, I'm on the beach with Ruby.

Ruby had set herself up on the beach in some shade cast by some palm trees, so she was happy. I wonder how happy she’d have been if she’d heard Carol’s lecture. “C’mon girls, it’s okay if your Dad gets swept out to sea… he’s insured… but you are NOT. GOING. OUT THERE!”

I'm with Ruby.

So how did the surfing go? Well you’ll just have to wait for the next chapter to find out, won’t you?
You already know that we don’t drift off to foreign lands… but…

Someone gets hurt.

Nebo was there after all?

Oh, relax. It’s not Elle or Kay. It’s certainly not Ruby, happy as a clam on the beach.

Um… that leaves…

Aw... Hope it's not too bad.

Great chapter Ponzi!

Elle is the fourth from the right in the back with both arms in the air.

My name is O Kitty and I watch Dance Moms...

:lmao: Unfortunately, Elle watches it too. I've seen a little of it... but since I do most of the driving to/from dance class... I already live it.

Oh, maybe not as bad as what Elle tells me happens on that show... but still...

Plenty of dance Mom drama in my life without watching it.

Wow! I've been gone a little while. As you would say Ponzi, work is making me work!

What's with that, anyway?

I haven't read your latest chapter yet but just saw what happened to you with the dance competition. They should be ashamed of themselves. They shouldn't have run out of medals, but given that they did they should order more and send them to your home.

Considering they ran out two years ago too... I'm pretty sure that instead of correcting the situation... they've justified it. :sad2:

Also, a shame about the limo. It was a really thoughtful idea and it's too bad that it was ruined.

Oh, well. At least nobody missed their flight.

Also, I know I offered you my husband's man card, but his was taken from him the other night when we made him watch Prom.

I don't know what 'Prom' is.

I'm good with not knowing.

Wow! Surfing in the open ocean! You and the girls really know how to have an adventure!:thumbsup2

I'll have more on that in the next chapter... if I survive!!! Oh, wait. Guess you already know that part.

Cool that you actually bought the art you were admiring. I usually consider it, then get practical. Meeting the artist made the souvie even more special!

It's not something I do very often. Every now and then though, I'll see something that I like and...

I can't see which girl is Elle, yet - I need to come bak when I have my glasses on.:3dglasses

Go ahead. I'll wait...

Got 'em yet?

How 'bout now?

Now?

Moving on.

And it always comes so quickly. It probably seems like yesterday that you were checking in, exploring the resort and rich with a full week of vacation days ahead of you.

At the time... yes. Now it feels like it was a million years ago. Which makes it fun to write the TR. I wonder what'll happen next!!

I guess unshakable is the operative word considering your future purchase.

 No one else caught that.

What's so hard to understand? She wants to watch her family, the people she loves, show off their new surfing skills. And my guess is that she doesn't feel like getting her hair wet.

Well... that might be a reason. But the real reason will be revealed in a later chapter!!!!!

Doesn't the addition of all those exclamations make it sound like it's something really wild?

It isn't. I'm just messin' with ya.

Oh please. We are SO easy to understand.

You are? What do you mean? I don't get it. :confused3

More Hawaiian burgers?

Not this time. I'd heard they had good food, that's all. I didn't even know they had burgers until after we got inside.

Well, ok then.

See? Oh, ye of little faith.

Oh, all right! Your lack of faith is justified. Okay?

Sheesh.

That's pretty cool looking. It looks plastic.

And it sure wasn't interested in moving. It almost got stepped on by us and the next family that came out too.

Where's Nebo?

Carpentersville. But he doesn't wave back at you when you're flying over his house.

Glass is still intact. I guess he hasn't been there.

That would be a giveaway.

Cool! And not a bad price for original art. Are you going to post a photo?

I was thinking of that. Okay, I'll put it up later after I'm home.

So, you're one of those art buyers, huh?

Nope. I'm the epitome of that famous saying, "I may not know art, but I know what I like."

Yes, you've got be careful with that new glass purchase, er, your loved ones.

Gotta admit it was love at first sight.. oh... the kids. Yeah, guess I gotta be careful with them too.

Nope, I'm on the beach with Ruby.

I'll see if she'll save you a spot.

Great chapter Ponzi!

Thanks, Laura! :goodvibes

But here's a shot of the end pose from their gold winning jazz number. I was going to point out Elle, but we'll see how observant the readers are. :)

That's easy! She's the pretty one...

Okay - that's a complete cop out. I can pick out several that are not Elle, but have no idea which girl really is Elle.

Well I'm not actually an "artist" . I do participate but mostly as a way to kill time while I am down there anyway. My stuff is the silly kid like art. Little kids like it because it makes their stuff look good. Let's just say they don't print pictures of my work or post them like they do for the kid:rotfl2:

Okay - that's a complete cop out. I can pick out several that are not Elle, but have no idea which girl really is Elle.

I'm pretty much the same way. I narrowed it down to all but 2 or 3. There is one girl looking up and you can't really see her face, so it's hard to tell if that could be Elle or not.

 Well thanks for coming clean!

I wanna see the sculpture!

I'll see what I can do.

5th from the left. Looking straight up. Not Elle.
