Just a silly little TR - Run Away!!

Cookie recipes are not required for membership, all are welc.... wait. Did you say it was an excellent cookie recipe?....

Yes, no one is allowed to post or read other posts without first having submitted a cookie recipe. I'll allow you this one since you didn't know the rules. Now you know the rules and you are in violation until you meet your obligation.

I don't want a violation! HERE:

Snickerdoodles (my absolute FAVE)
Makes about 4 dozen 2-inch cookies
2¾ cups unbleached flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoons salt
1½ cups granulated sugar minus 1 tablespoon
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
16 tablespoons (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
1. Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 375 degrees. Whisk the flour, salt and baking soda in a medium bowl; set aside.
2. Beat butter and sugars (except the ¼ cup granulated sugar for rolling) until creamy; add eggs and beat until combined. Add flour mixture and mix until just combined.
3. Mix ¼ cup sugar and the cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Roll approximately a tablespoon of dough into a 1-inch ball; roll ball in cinnamon sugar mixture. Repeat with remaining dough, placing balls 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
4. Bake until cookies are just set and turning golden brown at edges, 8-9 minutes. Cool cookies on baking sheet for 2 minutes; then, using a wide metal spatula, transfer cookies to a wire rack and cool to room temperature.

Please let me stay Mr. Ponzi, Please?

Whoa! That was fast.

Hmmm... need to get unbleached flour and unsalted butter. Got the rest.

I have no idea when I'm going to get the time to bake...

so I have no way of confirming your claim that the cookies are excellent...

so I'll grant you a temporary visitor pass until I pig out... ummm... taste the cookies.

Hey! Just noticed your ticker... two weeks until your first trip to the world? How great is that??

Hey! Just noticed your ticker... two weeks until your first trip to the world? How great is that??

I would never mislead you intentionally... it is our first trip HOME to BLT as new DVC members. This will be my 9th trip to the world actually. DH "Oliver" is trying to talk me into really coming out of my previous state of perma-lurking to write a trip report of my very own. Now THAT would be a first. Takes nerves of steel, bravery, wit, conviction and serious typing skills to do a TR....so I just don't know if I have all that in me. You and Nebo are my heros!

Must admit when I saw "First trip Home" I thought, "Hmmm... rather presumptuous. What if she doesn't like it?"

Yeah right! :rotfl:

Do write a TR, because I do and...

nerves of steel? Well mine are like wet noodles, does that count?

bravery? I once ran from a dog that looked pretty mean. Although to be fair, he looked like he could get out of his owner's purse relatively easily.

wit? Hey! I'm only halfway there, and I'm writing a TR!

conviction? Well, never been convicted of anything, although I will admit to stealling the odd cookie here and there... :rolleyes1

serious typing skills? I've got one of these
drinkingbird8qp.gif
and it just jabs keys at random.

Well heck, I didn't know the rules here, and I don't want o be in violation either, so here's my cookie recipe:

ingredients: one package of Oreo cookies, milk, (preferably from a cow), glass.

preparation: Pour 2% lowfat milk into a glass, colder the better, rip open top of Oreo package, remove a singular cookie.
You now have the option of either, A: by holding the edge of the cookie, carefully immerse as much cookie into milk glass as possible without letting the milk touch your fingers holding said cookie, or, B: insert entire cookie into your mouth, move cookie into side cheek holding storage area while carefully filling the remaining oral vaccuum with milk, hold this position for 7 seconds, then swallow.

repeat until bag is empty.
makes approx. 16 ounces,
servings: one

very humorous if done prior to dental appointment

This is my younger brother's go-to recipe. He substitutes a fork for the fingers though. Stab fork into cream filling and dunk. He swears by this technique.

I prefer option C: holding the edge of the cookie, raise the glass of milk until cookie is immersed. Lower glass, open mouth, move face towards cookie, engulf.

Okay, my real method is this: take two oreo cookies, spin off tops of both cookies. Grudgingly eat both tops either singly or simultaneously. Put remaining cookies together to make one double stuff oreo. Enjoy.

And yes I know you can buy double stuff oreo cookies.

Hi Ponzi! Another transfer student from Nebo-land here. Really enjoying the travelogue!! :goodvibes More of a reader than a commenter, but y'all are so inspiring with your banter, I might have to jump in.::yes::

And I did note your Canadian use of y'all. :thumbsup2

Cookies? Here ya go: Oreo Pudding Chocolate Chip Cookies. Yeah, baby! So can I join in now? :bitelip:

And welcome back, Nebo and Smidgy!! I sure hated to miss out on our meet at the ELO-ish concert, hope it was terrific! Be glad I didn't push on to get there... my cough that had already started by last Fri was (and is still) walking pneumonia  ~ So I'm glad I didn't infect you, and I promise not to cough on anyone here.

Cindy

I had to go to the grocery store anyway, so, being inspired by the gooey butter cookie recipe (orginal gooey cake by Paula Dean, need I say more?) I thought I'd pick up the couple of things I needed for them, although I am not a cookie eater usually. So I got the sour cream, I had everything else I thought, since DD is a baker (I'm not). Except I forgot to get the cake mix!:faint:

We’re going to Hawaii!!

Well!

First the dutiful answering of the question:
For those of you who missed it, HM is for sure my fave ride.

:worried:Wow! I cannot believe you just told the whole world that Hanna Montana is your favorite,,,,well, you know,,,, have you no shame?

PrincessCaitlin wins the 6 points.

And you win 5 to 10!

Honorable mention to Sandy Mouse for picking a top 5 (BTMRR) and jakeybake for just mentioning Zebra Domes.

mmmmmm…. Zeeeeebraaaa Dooooooommmmmesssss.

Hang on, I’ll need a minute here.
mmmmmmm………..

Okay, I’m all done… nope. Hang on.

mmmmmmmmmmmm……

Okay, I think it’s out of my systemmmmm now. Oops.

I believe I actually prefer the chocolate cake that comes in the clear plastic container even better, and it's sold all over tthe World, I've never had such Chocolatey cake in my life! At Pop and the All Stars and Riverside and Cosmic Ray's, of course they give it a fancy name,,,they call it Chocolate Cake.

And I’ll give a nod in Nebo’s neck of the woods for mentioning Crush. Not a fave ride, per se,

You,,, and Crush,,,, and Hanna,,, on the EAC,,,,,

Now right about now, some of you are jumping up and down in front of your computers, iPhones, ipads, iDon’tknows or whatever. “A name! He dropped a name!!!” (and for you Nebo TR followers, "He got hurt! Yay!... bloodthirsty bunch.)

You bet they are, I've lost readers cuz someone promised them lots of blood in any of my reports and it didin't happen often enough.

So, ,,,, um,,,, there will be more pain, right?

And some of you might think you’ve got it all figured out.
“Okay so we’ve got pkondz as the husband/father, Ruby as the wife/mother and at least two kids.”
And some of you might be thinking, “Hunh? How do we know there’re at least two kids?”

Because in chapter one I said, “We had another kid. We didn’t have a lot of room.” Ergo, ipso facto… that implies that there was at least one before we had this one.

I think it was Ruby, in the conservatory, with the rope.

If not, it will be!

However!
Did anyone ever consider that perhaps pkondz was a woman and that Ruby is my partner and we adopted some rugrats?

No?
Why not? Nebo did! (Hi Nebo!)

yes, Nebo did. It's when you stand sideways and the light's behind you......

Okay, okay. I set him straight so I’ll clear the air here. Yes I’m a dude married to a dudette. The hombre to my hombrette. The… you get the idea. And now I’m in trouble again for calling Ruby my hombrette.

But she is.

So Ruby comes home one day about 6 months ago and says to me. “Honey? Umm… we had a meeting at work today. And you know how I took over the job for Jainey when she took maternity leave?”

Holy Cow! She offered to do the maternity thing for her co-worker? Now THAT"S a FRIEND!

“Uh, huh.” At this point, as all you ladies know, the male attention span can be divided into two categories:

1. Sports. If there’s a playoff game of some sort on TV, a man can stay focused for upwards of 12 to 13… weeks.
2. For everything else, a man can stay focused for… I just noticed that my typing is getting faster. Cool.

:rotfl:Well done!

“Honolulu. For one week.”

“So here we are with Ruby getting an all expenses paid trip to Honolulu…

Oh yeah? Think that's special, do you? I once got to leave at midnight and drive to Murray Kentucky so I could be at Briggs and Stratton to work all the next day,,,and they put Smidgy and me up at a Days Inn,,,,, KING BED,,, and they PAID for it, too, so eat your heart out!

“Well… if we eat Kraft Dinner a lot, don’t go out at all and generally just scrimp, save and belt tighten… and since the airfare would be three tickets and not four… and since the hotel is usually one of the biggest expenses and it’s paid for… Let’s do it!!!”

Two words for you:
Ramen Soup. I can't believe what a deal that stuff is, I've got a place here that charges less than 17 cents a package for it, ANY FLAVOR!
Oh, sorry,, I know how much you like this sign:
<17 cents.

Time marches on. I start doing what I do when it comes to trips. Over plan the heck out of it. She does what she does best when it comes to trips… let me over plan the heck out of it. Every few weeks Ruby’d come home with a “Guess what?”. And each time it was one more hurdle… umm… hurdled. One step closer to the holy grail. One hop skip and a jump closer to the finish line.

You two sound a lot like how we used to be, well, I guess still are,,,, the difference now is after she wants me to go and plan the whole trip, when I'm all done, THEN she starts throwing darts at it.

What. Still here? You want to know how that went, do you? Oh, all right.

Absolutely, telling kids this kind of stufff is better than actually going.

I tell her it’s her news and she should be the one to tell them. Now both DDs our looking at us with suspicious eyes.

Yes I dropped another factoid. We have two girls. I’m guessing (and this is just a guess… could be wrong) that the ladies are going, “Awww… a houseful of young ladies. How lovely.”

The men are basically saying, “You poor schmuck.”

You poor schmuck! Hope your new place has lots of bathrooms.

I will admit that there are times when the oestrogen levels get a little high in the pkondz household.

And it gonna get worse before it gets better.
I'm not helping, am I?

Ruby knows this.

And laughs at me.

Course she does, when it comes to chromosomes, one's company, two's a crowd, or, " I see X people!"

Heck even the dog is a girl.
probably eventually, anyway.

<sigh> Okay let’s get this out of the way. There’s me, Ruby, DD15, DD11 and the dog. There’s also a hamster and a fish. And if DD11 gets her way, a gecko is in the near future. And when Kay sets her mind to something, it usually, inevitably, inexorably happens.

<sigh> The other one is Elle.

Like that name, is that one syllable or two?

Now both DDs are looking at us and waiting for the bad news. When Mom & Dad start a conversation with, “So? Do you want to tell them?” it can’t be good.

Yep, that's exactly how I would have taken it.

“Okay… it’s not a done deal yet so don’t get too excited… but it looks like we’ll be going to Hawaii.”

Pandemonium, and bedlam ensue! Elle goes running around and around the room flapping one arm at her side while fist pumping the other in the air. Kay swings from the chandelier. They both chant, “Ha Wa EE, Ha Wa EE, Ha Wa EE…”

Well, maybe not quite.

No, that works for me, leave it that way.

We don’t have a chandelier in the kitchen.

But suffice to say, there were two pretty pumped people participating in a plethora of pleasurable platitudes pertaining to packing for paradise at the table that evening.

Perfect! People partaking in pandemonium pleases partyers as I profusely.

Eventually, all the approvals came in and we knew we were going.

Sure you wouldn't rather go to Murray Kentucky?
It's a college town that even had a team in the NCAA tournament this year. I found out the hard way it was a college town when I couldn't even get a lousy beer with a crappy meal at the Sizzler chain in town,,,, down there, a college town means a "dry" town.

The next few months were a combination of reading about Hawaii, talking about Hawaii, planning for Hawaii, buying supplies for Hawaii and, of course, saving for Hawaii. I’ll spare you the details. Time to get this party started!

Coming up…
We start the trip! Or do we??? :scared1:
And… wait for it…. Pictures.

Why am I a little bit leery about trusting you and your pictures?
anyway,, nice beginning, but I sure hope Ruby doesn't read that part about HM,,,,

Oh boy, I'm going to have to look for my "Candy Bar Cookie" recipe. If you like chocolate these are the bomb! By the way you guys, how do you like your cookies, a little soft or crunchy? In the buzz household we all like them on the softer side, but mileage varies on this one. My mom likes her cookies on the really crunchy side so growing up I ate cookie dust because she always put lots of nuts in her chocolate chip cookies. When they are already crunchy, the nuts really aren't necessary for any extra crunch so I would intently pick out the nuts leading to the consumption of.......cookie dust!!! :sad2:

I like Nebo's cookie recipe, especially the bonus gift for the dentist! But I would need to submit option D as well, of which 4 year old DD is a master. In this method you carefully separate the two chocolate cookies to eat the yummy cream center and then you carefully put the two cookies back together and put them back in the package for unsuspecting buzz household members to encounter a unwelcome surprise. Needless to say the other three of us carefully confirm that our Oreos are, in fact, Oreos now! ;)

Lisa, my DH's favorite cookies are Snickerdoodle. I will try your recipe next time I make them. Marita, your cookies sound awesome. You bring the wine over and I have the cake mix! If we use some of Thumper Man's smilies, we may just come up with a new cookie!! I'll see you in about 7-8 hours okay? ;)

Ok, I DO NOT want to be in violation of anything... So here is my recipe, but it's not for cookies, but chocolaty marshmallow goodness, none the less... :stir:

I actually got it from someone here on DIS a few years back...

Here is the link, with pictures, which I need a glass of milk just to look at...

Smore's Bars

Yes, I'm doing another double post because I owe Pkondz some responses.

Aww, it's so sweet of you to wish me a long walk off a short boat!! Bless your little heart.....if you are from the South or even remotely know about anything Southern then well you know what that means. I'm kidding Pkondz!!!:thumbsup2

So seriously, I am really torn on the Star Wars weekend thing. If we go Memorial Day weekend the crowds will likely be higher, but I can save a vacation day or use the vacation day/holiday combo and stay longer. Or, we can be in the World for my birthday the next weekend and just not give a care about the extra vacation day and just do it. Thoughts?

You know, I thought the very same thing during "The Amazing Race" finale, that Big Brother would lose out due to the cab, but it really ended up not even being a factor and even the initial "rejection" at the final mat ended up not even mattering! There was quite some distance between those teams initially during the leg! But I must say I was a little "meh" on the contestants over all this season. There was way too much drama in the sense of crying/whining/complaining to suit my taste. I like the teams that just genuinely like each other and just enjoy the experience, but that doesn't sell TV. Oh well, hopefully next season will be better!

. Marita, your cookies sound awesome. You bring the wine over and I have the cake mix! If we use some of Thumper Man's smilies, we may just come up with a new cookie!! I'll see you in about 7-8 hours okay? ;)

Sound great, I'll be there! How many gallons should I bring? Red or White or both? We could make some awesome cookies. :smokin:

T-Man, if you want wine, you are in luck, I just bought 8 gallons on Friday ;). I go for quantity over quality, LOL.

Gallons? Did she say gallons? And her avatar says, "on my couch with my laptop and a GLASS of wine?" Marita, where do you buy you wine from, OPEC?
Geesh

Lady H and I will stop on by when Ponzi posts the next chapter. We can have cheap wine together and laugh, I mean comment about his latest chapter. I actually prefer a few cheap wines over the expensive, supposedly better quality, type wines.

Tman, that only works so far,,, some of the cheaper stuff I truly believe tried to kill me the next day when I was younger,,,, like Mad Dog, Richard's Wild Irish Rose. Those were the worst. But Strawberry Hill and even Ripple could make your head explode the next day if you had enough of it.
Marita needs to change her avatar to " under my couch with a glass of wine"

Boy. I feel like such a dope. (Not that that's an unfamiliar feeling)

Thumper-Man's Wife posted "Squirrel" and I said my fave movie was Christmas Vacation.
I immediately thought of the squirrel scene in the movie and that's the connection that was made.

Then Thumper-Man (gallantly coming to the rescue of his princess) posts this:
tumblr_llmg4kqNWF1qemhs1o1_r1_500.gif

D'oh!

Well, I was right there in dopedom with you, trying to put it together. Funny how that happens isn't it? But i've been lost and confused many a time, I once thought this one guy was a woman, not sure why, i just lost track.

In my defense, I still haven't seen that movie. I know. I know! I will. I will! Promise!

what movie?

I still feel dumb, though.
Ah well, I'm used to it.

Am I supposed to feel dumb too?

Okay. I'm just going to shut up now. Perhaps it would behoove me to work on the next chapter?

Next chapter has hooves?

Gallons? Did she say gallons? And her avatar says, "on my couch with my laptop and a GLASS of wine?" Marita, where do you buy you wine from, OPEC?
Geesh

Marita needs to change her avatar to " under my couch with a glass of wine"

I didn't say I drank gallons all in one sitting, geesh! Ever hear of saving in bulk? Besides, there is no room under my couch :snooty:

The smell of cookies finally made it to Denver.....loving the report so far!

Here is my Missouri State Fair Blue Ribbon winning Chocolate Chip cookie recipe:

Sound great, I'll be there! How many gallons should I bring? Red or White or both? We could make some awesome cookies. :smokin:

Bring both! Maybe we can experiment with actually putting a little wine in the cookie batter. It might enhance the "bloom" of the cookies! ;) Come on over, I'm up pretty late/early most nights!
