Just a silly little TR - Run Away!!

So glad you finally got there. I fly a lot and it never fails that we are delayed coming into Charlotte ( we are a us airways hub) and people are scrambling to get off to make connections. I will never understand why people won't just stay seated and let the people off that are about to miss a connection:(. Once again that karma thing comes into play.

You mentioned earlier that with all my travel maybe at least I got to do some fun stuff. Let's put it this way-I have been to LA numerous times and have only been to DL for a few hours, I have been to Paris and have only seen the Eiffel tower from a cab :(

this chapter is to short!!!!! I want more!!!!!!
p.s you still owe me a new hairspray!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, nice view! I can't believe you were awake 25 hours! At least you didn't have to worry about jet lag, or, did you...

I'm kinda used to it, being a shift worker... but it's never fun. The rest of the family was looking pretty wiped by the time we got to our room!

As for the jet lag... that's how we start the next chapter. ;)

My friends dont call me Rainman for nothin!!! There was purpleblanket, DisneyBrat, her hubby and little girl, my sister, her hubby and 2 girls, Hooked on the Mouse, her hubby and 3 kiddies, you and your girls and me....17 in total!!!

Off to catch up on your newest post....tell Elle to stop by my TR....would love to chat with her!:goodvibes

I new I could count on you... and I'm sure you're an excellent driver. :rotfl: I'll let Elle know where to find your TR(s).

Thank God you made it! I was gettin worried!

Me too!

You spilled your coke....I spilled my coke in August on our way to Disney! LOL....MM did not find it amusing when it hit her and my Ipod Touch:rolleyes1

Ouch! :headache:

No one would switch seats....again I ask.....what is wrong with people. Clearly they know nothing of this karma to which you speak....silly fools!

Foolish mortals...

Great view....score!!!

Yup. We sure enjoyed it. :)

Quick! Everybody jump up and stand half crouched over! :sad2:

Oh, that's too bad. I can't imagine going to Paris and not being able to stop and smell the cafe au lait.

this chapter is to short!!!!! I want more!!!!!!
p.s you still owe me a new hairspray!!!!!!!!!!

I had to make up for the pain and suffering I inflicted with the last (two part) super long chapter! And we looked for hairspray at Costco today didn't we? You were the one who wanted to go look at rodents and fish instead. :rolleyes1

Ponzi, yikes on the trials and tribulations of the trip, I am exhausted just reading it! But you made it, which is the important thing, and scored a great room to boot!!

Life is good and you are in Hawaii!!!

Truly enjoyed reading this!! As far as your favorite ride, you either don't like any rides or it must be the Mad Hatter.

Cindy

Great update! Very cool pkondz--- way to be nice! And you're right--- the person behind the counter will want to help you more because of it! Karma is on your side, so far!! Hope it stays that way!!

~Dawn

Sounds like your people skills worked well since you scored two flights and the fancy tower!

Forgot to mention in my last post - what a score on the room upgrade :thumbsup2 Gorgeous view !!!! We stayed there when I graduated HS - don't remember that much about it - I don't think that it was nearly that big back in the 80's. I do remember that Don Ho had his show at a lounge in the hotel though.

The jet lag when you get there can be brutal - you just get to where you aren't waking up at 4am and then you have to come home. :(

Can't wait to read more. :thumbsup2

Another chapter up and I haven't even finished breaking down the 2nd part to the last chapter. Man I got some work to do. Literally. I'm work at the moment and have to get some work done. Hopefully I can do a break down of both chapters before Lady H and I are gone for the weekend.

I think we were back home for about 10 minutes before I told Ruby that I wanted to go back! :rotfl2:

There were still a few more "incidents" during the trip (thank goodness or this would be one boring TR!) and I'll get to them as they come up. But none as colourful as the flight out.

Cindy

Oh, man! There's not too many rides that I don't like! Definitely not a fan of IASM. :sad2: No, my fave is Haunted Mansion.

And welcome to the TR! :goodvibes

Thanks! And I'm going to respond to this a little further down in its own post...

I'm thinking of hiring myself out. Any takers???? :lmao:

Yup. I was pretty stoked when the front desk person said Ali'i tower! :cool1:

So you don't remember much from your HS grad? Good for you! :drinking1

I would've loved to've seen Don Ho. I mean, how cool is that?

Oh, just wait 'til you see what I've done. :sad2:

Can't wait to read more. :thumbsup2

Glad you're enjoying it!

Yeah! What gives?!? Where's the breakdown? What's a guy got to do around here to get noticed? Sheesh!

Just kidding T-man. You don't have to worry about it. Love to read 'em but... trust me, I know a breakdown is a lot of work. Nebo told me not to worry about doing them, and now I'm telling you. :)

A couple of posts up, Dawn (aka Heluvsme) said, "way to be nice!"

That just struck me as funny. The first thing that popped into my mind was a quote. And for those of you who've followed along with Nebo's TRs, you know where the quote comes from.

Quiz time! Identify the person who says the following:

"It's nice to be nice to the nice."

For bonus points who was it said to and what was the reaction?

Frank Burns, MASH. Can't remember the reaction. I went to youtube, hoping to find a video quickly, didn't find the one I was looking for but this one is fun:

http://youtu.be/LJyfmanqYc8

Yes, it was Frank Burns to Col. Henry Blake's new love Nancy Sue Parker from Ohio State. All I can remember about the reaction is Hot Lips repeating the phrase disdainfully.

That quote is a big favorite in our house!

Way to go pkondz on the Tower. It does pay to be nice! At least you say the fruits of your "labor" quicker than most!! Great update...

I know you did, but there's a lot of things I want to make fun of; I mean, comment on. Like what happened on the flight? You left San Francisco and landed in Hawaii without any incident it seems. Inquiring minds want to know.

Was little Jeffrey sitting next to you the whole trip? Did he tell you he's only 4 years old? Did his mom keep telling him to be quiet? Did she keep picking him up and dropping him in his seat? Did he get chocolate all over your nice clean trousers? Did you invite him to the restroom to play with the pretty blue water? This could've been a whole chapter all in itself.

Reporting in tardy and late! Gosh Pkondz, the kids need to stop all the activities and learning so I can write in your TR!! Seriously, you might have been worried that I DID fall off of the ferry, if I had been to the World anytime recently, which I haven't, but hope to remedy with a long weekend for Star Wars Weekends coming up. Keep your fingers crossed for me please. ;)

Anyway, digression and digression, my intent is to write to responses in light of the fact that you sir have completed two chapters since my writing absence. I read both, I just didn't have time to write. :rolleyes2

On the first airport chapter, good grief, the Pkondz family just needed to catch a break. I mean seriously, I was rooting so hard for there to be a positive first airport chapter conclusion! I have had a few bad experiences with planes/embarking/and disembarking from them. I have had the joy of "electronic issues" resulting in a forced disembarkation and a further two hour delay ending with being given the option of a possibility of a much later flight or a flight in the morning. Fun all around, but this was on the way home so less of a "miss part of vacation" feeling of helplessness.

International flights, and the whole different fun element they add, can also be a delight. Note that there is heavy sarcasm in the word "delight".

Oh yes, and Thumper Man? I love the drinking smilies!! Thanks so much for adding them. I'm really glad Marita already commented on their quality.

The second airport chapter was terrific!! :thumbsup2

I knew I liked you for lots of reasons, but man, the Pkondz family also watches "The Amazing Race"? We LOVE that show. I know there can be some questionable content from time to time, but it is one of DS's most favorite shows. Literally, we have family pizza night on Sundays and we eat while we watch it. Did you watch the finale on Sunday?

The "amazing" ;) thing is I can completely visualize you and Elle and Ruby and Kay racing through the airports as racing teams and the lines showing your flights, routes and final destinations. The only thing missing was a roadblock, but you encountered one or three of those in the form of karma ignorant people!

I am thrilled you guys made it to be able to fly to Honolulu together in the final leg and that you succeeded in getting in the newest tower!

I can't wait for the next chapter!

Elle, I think it is great that you are joining in. You can make sure you keep your dad straight on the facts of the trip!

Ponzi! I just picked up on that (Thanks Backstage Gal) It is so much easier for me to remember! ;) I love your airport chapter! I know I commented before, but I'm glad Karma decided to travel with you!:thumbsup2

Great score on the room with a view! Pretty awesome upgrade - I guess Karma works at the front desk.

Did you walk down to Duke's?

I know you did, but there's a lot of things I want to make fun of; I mean, comment on. Like what happened on the flight? You left San Francisco and landed in Hawaii without any incident it seems. Inquiring minds want to know.

Love It! "Jeffrey!" "Jeffrey!" :lmao::lmao:

Frank Burns, MASH. Can't remember the reaction. I went to youtube, hoping to find a video quickly, didn't find the one I was looking for but this one is fun:

Ding, ding, ding! 6 points for Marie. I'm at work so I can't check out the video, but will later.

Yes, it was Frank Burns to Col. Henry Blake's new love Nancy Sue Parker from Ohio State. All I can remember about the reaction is Hot Lips repeating the phrase disdainfully.

Nancy picks up the bonus points (6)!

That quote is a big favorite in our house!

That's nice. :rotfl:

Way to go pkondz on the Tower. It does pay to be nice! At least you say the fruits of your "labor" quicker than most!! Great update...

Yeah, but sometimes the Nebo sarcasm approach is called for too. ;)

I know you did, but there's a lot of things I want to make fun of; I mean, comment on.

Make fun of???? Oh, you made a mistake and meant comment on.... carry on.

Like what happened on the flight? You left San Francisco and landed in Hawaii without any incident it seems. Inquiring minds want to know.

My biggest concern was Kay's ears and cold. She started sniffling a few hours out. By the time we were starting descent, it was looking more and more like a cold. She usually isn't too slowed down by colds so I wasn't concerned, but when she started saying her ears hurt... As the plane kept descending, she kept saying, "My ears hurt." I kept trying to give her ideas. Chew gum. Work your jaw. Pinch your nose and equalize...

Other than what I previously mentioned... not much. I watched Hugo on the ORD/SFO flight (highly reccommend) then We Bought a Zoo (not bad, more cute than a must see).

Kay had wanted to watch We Bought a Zoo but fell asleep about 3/4 of the way through. She wanted to know how it ended so I made up a convoluted story about how Matt Damon's character lost the zoo, then lost his memory and became a highly trained assassin.

She bought it.

I get the feeling you're referring to a character I should know... but I'm lost. They did invite a young lad up to the cockpit where he was asked if he was ever in a Turkish bath.

Actually, apparently it's tradition to play "The Halfway Game" on flights going to Hawaii. Everybody guesses the exact time that we'll be halfway there. The winner gets a prize. The winner was a young boy around 10 years old.

Fixed! Fixed! I demand a recount!

Reporting in tardy and late!

Better late than never! :) Actually, I was kinda wondering where everyone went. :confused3 Was my writing THAT bad???

Gosh Pkondz, the kids need to stop all the activities and learning so I can write in your TR!!

Let 'em fend for themselves!

Builds what us older folk like to call "character". :rolleyes1

Seriously, you might have been worried that I DID fall off of the ferry, if I had been to the World anytime recently, which I haven't, but hope to remedy with a long weekend for Star Wars Weekends coming up. Keep your fingers crossed for me please. ;)

You got it! Fingers crossed that you fall off the ferry.

Seriously, when are you going? (As jealousy rears its ugly head.)

Anyway, digression and digression, my intent is to write to responses in light of the fact that you sir have completed two chapters since my writing absence. I read both, I just didn't have time to write. :rolleyes2

Well, you know what's paved with good intentions, right?
1815.gif

Actually, I'm having trouble trying to figure out when to post. Too early and people don't have a chance to catch up and comment... too late and buh, bye readers.

On the first airport chapter, good grief, the Pkondz family just needed to catch a break. I mean seriously, I was rooting so hard for there to be a positive first airport chapter conclusion!

You know, there was. Seeing Mr. B and Mr. & Mrs. NOC at the end of the line just made my day.

Ruby and I were already in holiday mode and even if we couldn't get to Hawaii until the next day, we were happy to just be on our way... somewhere.

Would've sucked if we had to go back home though... which some people probably did.

At least I HOPE some people did. :rolleyes1

I have had a few bad experiences with planes/embarking/and disembarking from them. Yeah, I hear ya. This was not fun, but by far not our worst airplane experience. :sad2:

International flights, and the whole different fun element they add, can also be a delight. Note that there is heavy sarcasm in the word "delight".

Sarcasm noted... and appreciated.

The second airport chapter was terrific!! :thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes

I know there can be some questionable content from time to time, but it is one of DS's most favorite shows. Literally, we have family pizza night on Sundays and we eat while we watch it. Did you watch the finale on Sunday?

Of course we did! I was so sure I knew who came in first... and got told to go back... when Big Brother took a cab to the helicopter.

The "amazing" ;) thing is I can completely visualize you and Elle and Ruby and Kay racing through the airports as racing teams and the lines showing your flights, routes and final destinations.

I wasn't kidding when I said I could hear Phil's voice.

The only thing missing was a roadblock, but you encountered one or three of those in the form of karma ignorant people!

True. I think for Elle and I, our roadblock was navigating Chicago's Terminals....

I am thrilled you guys made it to be able to fly to Honolulu together in the final leg and that you succeeded in getting in the newest tower!

Technically, we decided that the "race" would end in SFO... at least we hoped it would. We wanted a tie for Honolulu. :scared:

I can't wait for the next chapter!

Me too! Oh, wait... I have to write it, right?

Elle, I think it is great that you are joining in. You can make sure you keep your dad straight on the facts of the trip!

Yes. Elle. You do that.

And don't forget where your allowance comes from.

Just sayin'... :rolleyes1

Ponzi! I just picked up on that (Thanks Backstage Gal) It is so much easier for me to remember! ;) I love your airport chapter! I know I commented before, but I'm glad Karma decided to travel with you!:thumbsup2

Didn't mind Karma that day, one bit.

Great score on the room with a view! Pretty awesome upgrade - I guess Karma works at the front desk.

Karma... and a little trick I learned. :rolleyes2

Did you walk down to Duke's?

No we didn't. I treated Hawaii like I treat Disney World. There's too much to do and you can drive yourself nuts trying to do it all. House Without a Key was higher on my list... and we didn't do that either.

That might be a theme that comes up in the next chapter...

So Marie (mmeb144) was first on the board with Frank Burns and Nancy (nrod) got the bonus points for knowing that Margaret repeated the phrase disdainfully.

Frank then replies, "Just making conversation."
and Margaret retorts, "Next time, do it with your mouth closed."

Love that line. :lmao:

If I'm not mistaken, aren't Nebo and Smidgy due back today some time? Maybe we'll hear from them soon.

I get the feeling you're referring to a character I should know... but I'm lost.

Really? :headache: I thought for sure you would be the one to get this one. Magicfor2 seems to have figured it out already. But for sure I thought the great and power Ponzi would have picked up on this one. I'm a little disappointed :(

Here's a hint: He is not referring to a character per se...The person he is referring to actually plays HIMSELF.
