Just a reminder about resort reports

If I've had a problem with a resort, I do try & address it while I'm there. I also follow it up with an email to WDW CRO. This time after our trip to POP I emailed WDW CRO & got a great phone call from one of their reps, we discussed the issue and everything got resolved. To me that's great on Disney's part - that they listen to the issues and follow up with either emails or phone calls. We're just trying a different Value resort next trip so that we can do more comparisons for trips in the future. I do enjoy reading everyone's reviews good or bad. Sometimes I agree with them after a visit, sometimes I don't but they're still worth reading. JMHO..........:goodvibes

Point well taken. I was quaking in my boots with the thought of bus service at POR in October after reading multiple "bad resort" threads here. The busses were fine and the boat to DTD was efficient as well ... I really liked the resort!

Thanks, That's good advice!
I think all Disney Resorts are Special!!
The Name just sets the tone for quality, no matter where
on property you stay, whatever your budget.
I know Disney would never let their Standards drop
they are pretty particular about there reputation.

I think the most interesting thing I see and particularly concerning the Grand Floridian is the number of people who have no desire to stay there, consider it "stuffy" yet they like to dine there, use the children's programs such as the Pirate Cruise, the Spa and the afternoon tea.

I'll 'fess up' that I'm one of those folks who don't have a desire to stay at the GF yet we eat there and my daughter likes to do the Pirate Cruise and the Wonderland Tea Party. :lmao: It's a great resort for us to visit but we're not in a rush to stay there. THis mainly has to do with our personal taste, not what folks post negatively about the GF. It's a gorgeous resort and I've recommended it to folks whom I think would be their cup of tea. :thumbsup2

So I would advise everyone do your own research, don't let a heavy negative review sway you and try it for yourself when picking a resort.

Definitely. Nothing beats doing your own research to find out what is best for you. If I'd gone by all the 'negative' reviews of the Polynesian here, I might have missed out on a resort that has become my all-time favorite.

I'd also like to reiterate that if something meets with your disapproval, bring it up to the attention of management immediately! Allow those folks skilled in customer service to do their jobs. Disney prides itself on great service but nothing can be fixed unless you let them know what's wrong.

My recommendation to anyone trying to select a Disney resort is to make a list of the things they would want in a resort, whether it is Disney or not. Do you need a hot tub, or a pool bar, or do you want to be on a lake, or do you like a more urban setting. Once you have figured out what you want out of a resort, then pick the Disney resort that matches the most things on your list.

I've stayed at nearly all of the Disney resorts. I've had great experiences most of the time - in fact, I can only think of one really bad one out of more than 75 trips. If Disney didn't have their act together, the bad publicity would put them out of business in a heartbeat. Just because you thought a theme would appeal to you, and then it didn't, or just because you happened to book a stay during a major renovation (it happens), doesn't merit tearing the resort to shreds in a bad review. I've never given AKL a bad review, and I had a good stay there. But the theme doesn't appeal to me, so I have no interest in returning. It's not a bad resort - it's just not a good fit for me.

Every resort is going to have a bad day once in a while. It's ok to do a trip report or a review and give the facts, both good and bad. We need to know if something is a one time deal, or if there's a upward or downward trend. But if your mousekeeper forgot to change the towels 15 years ago - get over it.

I think everyone has shared some very useful info on reviewing a resort.
