Just a Dream Away- The Imagineering Thread*Are you curious, imaginative, dedicated?

So remember the show Dexter's Lab?

Remember his sister DeeDee?

Well I just had a shocker- the woman who voiced DeeDee is the murderous Constance Hatchaway of the Haunted Mansion 0_o

Interesting. Now I want to watch Dexters Lab :teeth:

Ooooooooo, what does this button do?

I think it would be cute to pu in a shop around where 20K leagues under the sea was called "Mermaid Minnie" (that is, if we weren't getting he expansion.)

Why? well I mean Minnie could be themed to, well, Minnie. And its a reference to the "Whale of a Tale" song in the movie.

I want a reference to "Harpoon Hana" in Adventureland near the JC, too. =P

Fun :p Maybe there will be a shop in Fantasyland like that... But most likely not.

Someone on Micechat just posted this:
"Just wanted to let everyone know that WDI is currently working on the Jungle Cruise animated figures at night, which has been going on for about a week now. On top of that, a new JC script will be implemented in the next few months.

For those visiting next year, I would expect JC to be closed most of, if not all of 2010."

Finally finished reading the whole thread.Took me all day but it was interesting and you guys all had some great ideas.Mind if I join in on the conversation? I'm planning on becoming an Imagineer after I get done with college.

Sure, come on in and join, welcome to The Thread! :)

Word of caution though, this thread has a tendency to s l o w down every now and then, but someone always revives it, so no worries.

Awesome thanks.

Anyway my friends think I'm a little crazy bc I try to think of a new ride or restaraunt idea a day.So it's good to find a group of people like me.My parents really support me in this which is nice.As a matter of fact my dad liked on of my restaraunt ideas so much he's trying to find an investor for it.

Welcome aboard :-D

So, anyone seen this umbrella in Disney's Hollywood Studios? It's based off of Singing in the Rain, and there's a black panel underneath the umbrella that, when stood on, causes water to spray down onto the umbrella. It's a pretty cool photo spot. You can find it opposite Lights Motor Action close to where the San Fransisco backdrop is.

Hey Yall :thumbsup2

So far I've only read the first page but I will read the rest of the thread tomorrow...

I cant believe how many pages this thread has tho :)

Yep I'm a Wannabee Future Imagineer and Imagineering is what inspired me to become an art student :)

Back when I was eleven I wanted to be an interior designer for WDI but now I would prefer to work in special effect / visual effects areas. I work a lot with film and will be studying for a degree in film next year so visual effects would be good.

And I thought I was the only one who created future Disney Theme Park attractions. Seriously when I was bored I would research ideas and draw whole plans out. I have a book full of parade float drawings and research for an Epcot attraction I created about the Seven Wonders of the World :rotfl2: I made a whole floor plan of the attraction and spent ages trying to work out how to make an illusion of someone moving backwards in time and came up with the idea of the fast flashing line lights like they have on Buzz Lightyear at Disneyland Paris [can't remember if its like that in WDW :rotfl2:]

So will read the rest of the thread tomorrow and can't wait to read what others have come up with and how many on here want to work for WDI.

Oh and also I have a few of those books from the first page -
WDI - Behind the Dreams Look at Making the Magic Real
Imagineer Field Guides to MK / Epcot and AK
and
Walt Disney Imagineering Legends
The Making of Pirates of the Caribbean
Disneyland Resort Paris - From Sketch to Reality

and my mum has loads and I need to buy loads more too :) Dont know where they're going to go when I move to Uni :rotfl2:

:)

fullerton university is where disney usually goes for it's imagineers in glendale.

hey my names steven.. i do want to be an imagineer in the field of mechanical engineer and sfx. that imaginations contest is only for everyone except male caucasians... :( but i will become an imagineer.

i'm actually thinking of doing a job shadow for school. also i have a whole lot of ideas. including a restraunt in toontown. it would be character dining in chip-n-dales treehouse. but it's complex. but hey, if you are trying to build a team for imaginations alice, than i know ways to get around the male caucasian rule. PM me if your interested, i'd love to work on that.

no, it's for imagiNATIONS. but again i have tricks to get in. also alice areyou near DLR or WDW?

I'm not even in college, let alone a junior in college, so Imaginations is a little out of my reach for now :p

Like.. 4 years out of reach... xD But I fully plan on working on ideas til then.

You know what one of my favorite Imagineering effects is?

The illusion of going backwards on Indiana Jones (well.. the rolling ball is a neato effect too, but still). Obviously actually going backwards is pretty darn dangerous in a constant moving ride, but instead your vehicle stalls for a few seconds, jostles around to make it seem like you're moving, and the walls move!

Its a pretty simple effect but MAN it is convincing.

Awesome thanks.

yay for more future WDIs!
tht race thing seems kinda weird.
alll of us would make an EPIC team for imaginations xD

Nope nothing bout race or Gender, you just have to be a junior or senior in college, studying under an approved major, or belong to a certain engineering club.

Gender doesn't matter, I have certainly heard of at least one guy who joined the Women's Engineering Society xD
