Hello there!

Me and my boyfriend of 6 years have decided that its time to set a date. I've always have had my heart set on a disney wedding and he finally caved in. After talking with our moms we set a date for hopefully March 3, 2010. We have decided that we are going to invite our immediate family down and our wedding party (which is about 30 people) and get married in the wedding pavillion. We are going to have a big reception back home a couple weeks after we get back.

My question is...has anyone ever just had a dinner (maybe in the village or somewhere) where is wasn't $75-$100 a person? I just want it to be a nice dinner not reception like, and maybe have the dessert party after. If anyone has any suggestions or examples that would be great!

xoxo

Hi there!

Congratulations!!! :goodvibes
It sounds like you might want to consider renting out a private room in one of the restaurants. There are several WDW restaurants that offer private dining for parties (California Grill is one I know of off hand, but other people will be able to tell you more). I'm not sure of the price, but it likely depends on which restaurant you choose. This way, you are basically just all eating dinner together, instead of a reception. But I am pretty sure you would need to rent out a private room to accomodate a party that size.

HTH for now-other people on here will be able to give you more details. Just wanted to let you know that it can be done!

That's exactly what we're doing, in fact most Escape Brides (it seems) do this. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible with a wishes wedding!:)

We are having our "celebration dinner" as we're calling it at Raglan Road in DTD. We wanted a casual relaxed atmosphere for our dinner. They have a private area called the Snug that you can reserve. They have set menus you can choose or you also have the option of choosing from the regular menu. They also have bar packages.

Thanks so much for the replys! I just don't wanna spend $100 a plate when we want something relaxed and I would want to do the wishes DP because that is more special to me. Like I said we are also having our reception back home. Any other restaurants you can think of that would be good?

I think, & I'm sure Carrie will come along to clear it up for me any second, but with a guest list of 30 you wouldn't be able to be an Escape Bride. I'm pretty sure their maximum is 20 people including the Bride and Groom. However, I know that you can have meals for less than $100 pp. A lot of it depends on the location and time of day. Lunch receptions are cheaper than dinner.

Are you doing an escape or wishes?

We did a wishes and had a sit down lunch at Narcoossee--we had 33 people--it is only available for lunch I believe our food was 62pp (duo plate with filet and mahi-mahi)/ extra for prereception food /drinks

Let me know if you'd like more info---

We are having a wishes wedding and we are just having a dinner and then moving onto our dessert party. Our meal is $89 a person. We have extended our pre-reception so we can include a Mickey and Minnie visit then.

If you have over 20 people (including yourselves) then you can't have an Escape wedding, only Wishes, and they currently have a $10,000 minimum spend, (going up for 2009) so you will need to make this up one way or another.........
Having said that there are many many other elements you can spend this on, and you can still keep your food budget low, but you're total budget has to be that minimum.
I think you can pretty much choose any resort restaurant, in park restaurants don't allow you to wear your dress, apart from the specialist wedding locations such as the Ling Seas Salon, American Adventure Rotanda and of course the Dessert Parties.

You can definitely have a dinner after your wedding for less than $75pp. The DTD restaurants have some wonderful options.

Regarding Escape weddings, you can only have 20 guests at the WP, SBP, and YCG. That guest list includes bride & groom and infants count as people. For Sunset Point (at the Poly) and Sunrise Terrace (at WL), the guest limit is 10, I believe. This restriction is for the ceremony only. You can have more at the dinner, DP, etc.

GL with your plans! We had an Escape and dinner at the CG, but it was more than $75pp. We didn't want a real reception with dancing and drinking so it fit the bill perfectly!

Absolutely! Although, I am an escape, so maybe its different? :confused3

We found a great restaurant in Celebration, FL called Cafe D'Antonio

http://www.antoniosonline.com/CafeDAntonio.asp

they have 2 "banquet" menus to choose from, both are 3 or 4 courses -- $35 pp and $45 pp. Seemed quite reasonable to me!! We have about 35 people... :confused3

HTH :goodvibes

Thank you everyone for your responses!

We def. are having a wishes because we have a 35 people count and I am aware of the minimum. I would just rather spend that on extra stuff since I am having a nice expensive reception back at home. And I DO want that dessert party! :) :woohoo:

:worship: You guys have been so helpful and these boards are truly a blessing!:worship:

I think I would want to stay on the Disney property for dinner because of the dessert party after.

Im sure Ill have more questions really soon!

FYI - Celebration, FL is the town owned by Disney. (in case you didn't know, because I didn't....:confused3)

Actually, the Disney company built it, but sold the property in 2004. It still has a disney look, but its not owned by them anymore.

I would like to go to celebration, it looks cute!

I'm having a dinner reception at Shula's at the Dolphin. They have placces for up to 50 people, so you might want to check them out... HTH

It was more of an experiment in Disney branding - sort of a watered-down version of Walt's original plan for EPCOT as a city of the future.

There's a book about the whole project called "Celebration, U.S.A." by Douglas Frantz and Catherine Collins.

We are doing this too :D We are having our wedding at the pavilion and then going over to the contemporary to have dinner in the Napa room. It over looks the Magic Kingdom and can hold up to 50 people. Their menu is reasonable about $40 or so per person depending on your choice and it comes with dessert. We are not having a cake down there so the dessert will really help out with that expense :)

I am definately going to look into this place. What kind of food are you having and what do they offer?
