Jury Duty Excuse?

i think you can reschedeule once with no questions asked. you have to explain yourself in the excuse section. however when they send you the next date for your reschedeuled time you better be dead if you can not make it. I did this once and when they sent me the next one their was no way out of it without a very serious reason that had to be proved to them in advance of reschedeuling. the only thing is if they do let you reschedeule a second time as I had to they let you pick a date when you can come. I did this in florida and it worked. I was going on vacation in the beginning of june got jury duty sent a letter. they excused me immediately and sent me a reschedeuled date which fell on my yearly lobster week vacation that my family has been doing for a long time. i sent back a letter and they told me to have proof of reserving the vacation in advance of receiving my jury notice, i guess some people bokk vacations after jury duty just to get out of it. Icalled the hotel the lady sent me information about booking the hotel and that I had reserved it a year in advance. I also showed them hotel receipts for 4 years prior that I always vacationed that week. I had to do this in person. that lady approved my excuse and then asked me to give her dates when i could perform my civil duty. i gave her the 3 different ranges of dates and she sent me a jury notice for the first week.
however I was picked first thing in the morning. they asked me how I felt about jury duty. I said he must have done something wrong he is the defendant. I was out of there in less than an hour

if it is criminal, tell them you are for the death penalty in ALL cases.

My mom just told me she received a summons for jury duty for the week that we have OUR vacation, too. My uncle (who is a lawyer) said she could write a note to get out of it.

DH just got a jury duty summons during our scheduled trip in April.

Does a scheduled cross country camping trip count as an excuse to get out of jury duty?

My DH just got a jury duty summons. He had to fill out a form with any doctor's appointments, vacations, etc. that might interfere and/or were already scheduled. They sent back a modified schedule to exclude our vacation in May. I would have been really upset if they hadn't since we have had our reservations for a year now.

Before we moved to S Central PA, we lived in Philadelphia. My wife and I were called to jury duty every other year, for 8 years.

The reason----We have a couple with a pulse. Grab them ! ! ! Basically the show rate in Philly, for Jury Duty, was less than 30 %.

I always wound up in front of a Judge for questioning. A close friend was F. Emmit Fitzpatrick. He was D.A. in Philly before Rendell got the job. Emmit was basically the Chief Prosecutor. Not even this got me out of Jury Duty.

DH wrote a letter explaining about the vacation, and they sent a letter back saying his jury duty would be postponed for 37 days or something like that. I hope that doesn't hold up the whole trial - I'm hoping (and assuming) he just gets assigned to another trial. Anyone know?

My dh got called to be a juror while he was going to be away with his hunting club during deer week. When he called the court clerk to explain why he needed to be excused, she said she just needed some sort of proof of confirmation from the place he was staying to re-schedule him. Well, this club is still in the same state that we live in and not a "resort" at all, but an old private deer cabin in the woods. The President of the club just printed something out on his home computer with the club's name and the amount of his dues that he had paid. It wasn't a lie, but it was creative. He did get re-scheduled and he was able to go on the new date. Don't even ask what happened when he went.... Let's just say, he was home pretty quickly!
