Jurasic Park vs. Escape from Pompeii

My family and I will be returning to Universal this June. My children 11 & 7 are getting braver and my DH does not like roller coaster or drop rides. I have been trying to find out how the two drops differ. I know that Jurasic Park water ride is about 85 feet but have been unable to find out the height and drop of Escape from Pompeii at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg. If anyone can give me a comparison, I would appreciate it. I am not overly fond of big drops myself, but am willing to take the kids on it if it is not too bad!!

It seems to me - and this is possibly just perception, as the angle of descent on the two rides probably differ by, at the most, a couple of degrees - that JP is steeper than Pompeii. I've ridden both many times, I can say you will most likely get wetter on JP. Having said that, it is regarded as the best "shoot-the-chutes" ride in the world, and I feel it is a must-ride. Pompeii is a blast, but JP is on a whole other level.

And if it's scary drops on water rides you want to know about, look no further than Dudley Do Right's Ripsaw Falls. Yee-ouch. More frightening than a lot of coasters ...

I agree! I think the drop on ripshaw falls is more intense than JP. I was nervous about my son (7) not being able to sit next to me, esp with no seat restraint! I was worried for nothing, of course.

For the same reson you stated I cant get myself on this ride with my youngest son. It just freaks me out, he rides with my husband and I have to walk away and meet them somewhere after. Its his favorite ride! I wish I could get over this. :scared1:

I did not realize what the seats were like until we got up there. They had us first in line, so my son would have been at the front of the boat. I talked to teens into switching with us! To help cope, I had my son sit in front of me and I grabbed him AND his shirt just under his armpits. I was still scared. But it was great. We rode it several times.
