Jungle Cruise and Splash Mountain in January

Hello all,

This is my first post on this site, but I hope to become a more active member. My wife and I took our four year old daughter to Disneyland this past July as part of a SoCal visit, and all three of us loved it! We decided to go to Disney World January 2019, and we have our resort booked.

Unfortunately, I’ve been reading up and it looks like Splash Mountain and Jungle Cruise close at times during winter. Splash for maintenance, and Jungle Cruise to remove the holiday overlay.

I’m not so worried about Splash Mountain (it was one of my favorites but my daughter was a bit iffy about the drop), but I’m hoping Jungle Cruise will be open. That was my daughters’ favorite ride. We are going from January 12-January 19. Does anybody know if Jungle Cruise is typically open during those days? I haven’t been able to locate historical closure information.

It wouldn’t be a deal breaker if Jungle Cruise were closed, but we were definitely planning to schedule a Fast Pass for it if it’s open. So I was just hoping to have some idea of whether or not I should book it when my window opens in November. I greatly appreciate any insight anyone might have.

Welcome.
I don't think there is any planned refurbishments to either JC or Splash. If JC is down for holiday overlay, it won't be down long. By November, you should know what will be down for refurbishment. It is likely that an attraction or two in each park may not be available when you are there-either due to planned shut down, or just temporarily down due to malfunction. If it is planned to be refurbed, the FPs won't be available in November when you try to make them. Regardless, don't worry about any one attraction. There's plenty to do and you will likely be back.

Last January it was 40 degrees when we got there on the 4th. We still rode SM. No wait. Hoop Dee Doo was also a Chilly outside wait.

Just wanted to say that we caught the Disney bug in the very same way... took our then four year old to Disneyland/DCA, then the next year, we went to WDW... and then three more WDW visits and a DCL cruise, with our next trip in March! Welcome!

I don’t think Jungle Cruise is typically closed in January, but Splash often is - it was closed on our early Feb trip.

I’ve been twice in January, both times around the MLK holiday. Splash was closed both times, JC was open.

Even to remove the holiday overlay, I can’t imagine JC would be closed for very long, and would almost certainly be open by the time you’re there (unless there’s a refurb scheduled that we don’t know about yet). Splash refurb is typically done in January...you’ll know closer to the end of the year whether or not they’re planning refurbishment for this January.

Not that you asked, but...I personally wouldn’t use a FP on Jungle Cruise except when the overlay is up. There are lots of other things with worse waits IMO. Plus you can probably get it as a 4th.
