Jungle Book/Rivers of Light Dining Package Lookout thread for Dates After Sept 5th

Thanks, appreciate the info!
At this point, I think everything is pretty :confused3

Who knows? Someday, Rivers of Light may come! There may be one or two shows a night!

(The reason I think it might be only one save at holiday then in high season is roughly threefold:
  • cost of keeping park open
  • follows model of Fantasmic, which is 2 in summer, 1 most of rest of year
  • occurs on water, and average overnight temperatures in Florida in December and January is between 50-55 degrees; the later after dark, the cooler it is)

Well I had to make my FP today...I'm operating on the assumption that there will be no nighttime entertainment at AK for our trip Oct 29 - Nov 5. Just thought I'd check his thread for rumors of light but it looks like we're all still in the dark, huh? At least I got all the FP I wanted...

There are some "rumors" that Rivers of Light may open sometimes in October. Nothing confirmed by Disney, though.

I don't have any idea about how hiring is done. I just found it interesting and hopeful that there was nothing available Sept 6-14 but then suddenly there as of Sept 15th. I'm not counting on it being there but sure am seeing it as hopeful! :)
Not sure if anyone has seen this article from Touring Plans. But it would explain why their reservation finder is allowing searches for ROL from Sept 15 on

Thanks @Party.Of.4-NY>>>FL.

I was emailing with Len from Touring Plans today and it appears the dates for RoL starting are probably more like sometime in Oct so we'll probably see their information change soon.

Oh well....something to look forward to for our 2017 visit. We have lots and lots of new things for this year already with Soarin', Frozen Ever After, nighttime Kilimanjaro and Tree of Life Awakenings plus Disney Springs changes.

Hmm, but Len seemed to think it's actually happening in the next 60 days? Did you feel like he had some relatively good info? I'm a huge fan of their site.

He felt end of October but I didn't get the impression this was set in stone. Time will tell.

I'm a huge fan of their site too!

I would really like to experience AK in the evening. I have made a 5:45 PM ADR at Yak & Yeti, hoping we can stay later if it's open late...

another interesting point is that RoL has half the capacity of F! though... if they want this thing to be a long term success I feel like they need to OPEN it and not open it tentatively and have people turned away from seeing it. I would not be surprised to see it cut back from 2 shows to one in january and february (the true doldrums of the WDW seasons) but when they first premier it during other huge draws like F&W and MNSSHP and Tgiving and Christmas and MVMCP causing the resorts to be almost sold out, I'd hope that they run two shows.

If they are smart, they will keep Fantasmic! and Star Wars so people cannot do them on the same night. The crowds are amazing for both of those and it's hard to get out of the park. We were there when it wasn't very busy either is early August too.

I keep checking for our early October trip, which I already can bet will not happen (I'm thinking Holiday season at the earliest) but I just keep checking because I want a later than 7:30 AK!!!

exactly, fantasmic only does one show a night during the slow season, same concept
Yep. Cooler, on water, lower crowds. Larger theatre, but the later you get in the late season the cooler it starts getting. It can start becoming a costuming issue as well for performers, as they don't typically have a costume for February and a costume for August.

february yes but december is not typically that cold. The overnight low isn't generally reached a half hour after sunset and the overnight lows are typically still in the 50's. that should be plenty warm to perform with lights and movement etc. I would hope they would roll it out full force for the holiday season (especially given that the capacity is half of what F!) is but would not be surprised if they roll it back as attendance drops. Fall into early winter is forecast to be quite brisk for attendance.

We're also hoping something is announced soon for AK's evening entertainment.

Great. News for October folks as it appears Disney has extended the AK hours for the month. It appears as the sun sets earlier the extended hours are ending earlier too but still later than in years past.
