JUNE W.I.S.H. Challenge - Looking Ahead

I had a grade-level meeting today, and at the end, my principal mentioned options for those of us with health concerns. There is a possibility that I might be able to teach home-bound students virtually this year when everyone returns to school. That would definitely solve my problem. Someone else would be teaching in my classroom.:sad2: I don't really like that, but I realize that I need to compromise right now. The only real issue is that I love my school, my classroom, my colleagues, and mostly, my administrators. I don't want to lose my position at my school. So, I emailed my principal to see if I would be guaranteed my position once there is a vaccine, and we can return to normal. I don't know if she can keep a promise like that or not.

In the meantime, there's nobody answering the phone at HR. My doctor's office is closed. My principal is in other meetings and not available to respond.

So, since I am done for the day, and there's basically nothing I can do right now except pray, I'm going to eat a healthy lunch, get some vitamin D courtesy of the sun, and go in the pool.

I’m glad there is an alternative for you if you do not feel safe returning to the classroom (and the way things are right now, how could you?).
And an afternoon by the pool sounds wonderful!

Does anyone feel frustrated trying to accept that weight loss in sustainable way will take some time. The diet way of approaching it is I will look great by my birthday, by Christmas etc. Thinking like that, even subconsciously is pushing me to do too much to try to force/rush the process and get results quicker. I don't want to wear my bigger jacket next winter. However, if I went with gradual weight loss approach truly year ago I would be goal weight by now. Pound a week, plus maintenance breaks - I need one year. One year is not long on scale of things. By this time next year, I could be at weight I am happy with and have at least 3 months of maintenance breaks, solid habits and be proud of myself. Or I could do unsustainable level of things and repeat the cycle.
Yes, 100% yes. This week I've been have slowness frustration again and have been fighting the urge to do something drastic and feeling guilty for eating... so contrary to what Noom has taught me.

Today is my birthday... another trip around the sun completed. Well done me. To celebrate I treated myself with a Starbucks Iced Chai and Egg-n-sausage sandwich. It was good but not earth shattering, which is good.

Locally today is a Black Lives Matter boycott of sorts. People are encouraged to not go to work, businesses to not open and for people to take the time to contact local government authorities about reform. There are also some silent marches planned. I decided to take the day "off" and plan on reading, currently working on 'White Fragility' which is life altering. Dr. Ibram Kendi has a new TEDTalks out that I'll watch, and I also plan on watching the movie '13th', about the 13th amendment. And I'm going to write to the Mayor and request police defunding and that the money be reallocated to community services, had to do some research on what defunding meant and now that I understand I support it.

I'll also finish painting the wall I started so I can put that end of the living room back together. Over the weekend I'll tackle the next wall... exciting stuff. I do have an appointment tomorrow morning at the nursery out in the country. I need to find a new pot for my fig, and they are having their annual 40% off sale.

Happy Birthday @Oneanne

Right now I am supposed to be working but Elizabeth won't leave my side today. Right now we are listing to Disney songs. She is surprised on how well I know some songs.

This weekend we are going to working in our flower bed and hopefully will get that completed and mulched. We have taken out a tree and a bunch of flowers. It was just over grown. Where the tree was we are putting pavers (I thank that is what they are called). This way I can pull my car up further and also to not have to get out onto the grass and ruin it every winter.

We will also watch a movie tonight and tomorrow night outside with a fire. We have looked forward to these each weekend. It has been fun. Last week end we watched Cheaper by the Dozen on Friday and Dr. Dolittle (the newest one) on Saturday. Tonight will be Cheaper by the Dozen 2 and Maybe Son in Law or Encino Man. We always have a treat with them. Popcorn, smores, special cookies. I am so glad we bought the projector. Something that is very easy to do that we all love. It was bought because we knew we wouldn't be able to do much this summer. Now this give us something special to do. Soon though our zoo will be open. We can't wait to do this as well. So easy to social distant at our zoo. It is huge.

@Oneanne sounds like a busy day and glad you treated yourself :)

and yes - I agree about how things we look forward to can be a let down. Not that I really looked forward to it really but last weekend - Saturday night we ended up with pizza - I didn't want to cook and the kids really wanted it - so I caved - it was awful - and not just because I was feeling guilty as I was trying to be good - it wasn't their usual standard and so I just felt a big let down as I had caved, ate it and then didn't even enjoy it!

So, since I am done for the day, and there's basically nothing I can do right now except pray, I'm going to eat a healthy lunch, get some vitamin D courtesy of the sun, and go in the pool.

Try to enjoy the weekend - you are lucky to have that pool all to yourself :) Hopefully you can get it sorted next week and then not have to worry all during summer break. I am doing a mix of work from home and seeing students - the seeing students part will start next week. BUT I am doing alot of phone or vitual consultations with teachers first so I will know exactly what I am going in to look at/assess before I get there. I plan to keep as much distance as possible. I too am very cautious still especially with my uncontrolled diabetes right now but the biggest difference between us is the Coronavirus cases in our countries - I am so shocked and dismayed for your guys - I am willing to go in as necessary to my schools at the moment as our numbers are so low we are getting close to eradication in our state with only 4 active cases and no community transmission they have collectively been from australian's returning from overseas or others in close contact with those people. I am a littlw worried though as we are intending to open our state borders next month and on of the other states here is having a much more difficult time with higher numbers and community transmission and at this time of year during winter many people from that state come to queensland for months (older people) to escape the cold of their southern state for our much warmer winters :scared:

@piglet1979 that sounds like a wonderful weekend - I love Cheaper by the Dozen it is funny :) I haven't seen the new RDJ Dr Dolittle - I liked the Eddie Murphy one.

Ladies, I hope you don't mind but I am going to set up weight loss support chat. Not monthly challenge with lead and question but just space I hope some people will join to discuss weight loss.

I am interested in weight loss and the chat here is good but I find it more general wellbeing than weight related. I was looking at old monthly discussions and they were very much focused on weight loss. Things change and that's cool but I find I would like to try to have discussion about calories and high protein meals and workouts of the day

I hope I am not offending anyone. I joined paid group and I love it but I am not going to be paying forever, I would like to find space I can chat weight management

No offense taken. The DIS has room for all sorts of threads!!

Social Saturday ~ ~ ~

Let's play “Two Truths and a Lie” - Make three statements about yourself, two of which are true and one made up. The next poster guesses which is the lie. If you guess incorrectly, someone else tries. If you guess correctly, it's your turn to post three things.

I'll start:
1) I live in Massachusetts, but grew up in New York
2) I went to a Catholic (Franciscan) university, but I'm not actually Catholic.
3) I was an only child, but had 17 cousins.

My highest weight before joining WW was 220lbs

When my daughter was a teenager we walked from our house in Ocean City to the inlet downtown-140 blocks.

I have visited WDW over 20 times

Thanks for jumping in @ski_mom! Since sjrec gave the correction, you don't have to wait for someone else to try. (I think I actually like this way better.) Go ahead and post your three! :)
