JUNE W.I.S.H. Challenge - Looking Ahead

1. No, that was true!
2. False-I only made it about halfway and had to take a bus home! My daughter and her friend made it to the end.

I thought that seemed like a long way lol!

Thanks for jumping in @ski_mom! Since sjrec gave the correction, you don't have to wait for someone else to try. (I think I actually like this way better.) Go ahead and post your three! :)

1. I live in the same town I grew up in.
2. I wanted to become a doctor when I grew up, but ended up being a teacher.
3. One of my favorite things to do is to go see movies at the theater.

You got it!
1. The only time I haven't lived where I currently live is when I was going to college.
2. I'm an accountant and I always pretty much wanted to work with numbers in some way, so nothing really changed there.
3. Although it's a very non-active thing to do, we love going to see movies on the weekend. When Coke rewards started a relationship with AMC, we got hooked on cheap movies! Looking forward to theaters opening again when they can do it safely!

1. When I was young (and cute) I did some professional modeling.
2. I've visited 44 of the US States... had hoped to add a couple more this year but that just isn't going to happen.
3. When I was a teenager my Dad took us kids on a week long hiking trip along 50 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail in the Northern Cascades.

Sorry I missed out yesterday. It was fun reading through the 2 truths and a lie. I would say my top self-love language is Acts of Service. I feel so good once tasks are accomplished! My next two would be Quality Time and Physical Touch. I enjoy having some quiet alone time to read a book, or watch a show for “quality time”. I also enjoy getting a massage, working out or riding my bike for “physical touch”.

I'd say I was doing well with a good balance of all the self-care languages, but each week that I've been back at work I've gotten further and further away from all the good things I was doing while on furlough, and I need to get back on track.

I think my self-care things for today will be to paint another wall. I usually paint the biggest wall second, but this time I'm going to paint the wall with the big front window next, with all the cut ins around the trim and get that out of the way. I'm in a totally everything white mood, so I think I'll run down to IKEA this morning and get the new white drapes.

I'm really pleased with the results of the acupuncture session, it kind of took the edge off of the discomfort in my feet which is more than I was expecting, as with holistic type treatments it can take a while and sometimes things get worse before they get better.

Maybe a combination of Physical Touch and Quality Time. I love sitting in the sun (with sunscreen and my big straw hat!) at the beach or on my deck with a good book.
Spending time with my grandson might be an Act if Service for my daughter and her husband, but it is definitely self care for me.
I would like to start journaling-many of my friends are doing it and I think it would be interesting to read over at the end of the year. I will start one tomorrow!

I went back with a highlighter and I'm pretty balanced as well:

But if I had to choose which ones I rely on the most, it would probably be Quality Time for general maintenance (I need some "non-peoply" time every day) and Acts of Service for emergency situations (when I'm really stressed, I organize stuff!)

I've been keeping a "One Line a Day" journal for about 7 years now, and I love it!

That is so interesting. I'd never heard of that. I googled it and I see the journal. Is that what you use? I'd like to look into it a bit more. I'm not good at journaling, but I think I could keep up with this and it sounds like it would be nice to look back on.

Yes, similar to that. I didn’t even buy the fancy one, though. - I just used a composition notebook, two days to a page. (Learn from my mistake...don’t forget February 29th, just because there isn’t one the year you start.:rotfl2:)

It is really fun to look back on, and has even come in handy a couple of times for those “When exactly did we get that done?“ type of questions.

Thanks! That is so neat! I put one in my amazon cart to mull over a couple days to see if I think I would actually do it. Sounds fun!

I am using this to motivate me this week :rotfl:

I am struggling to maintain loss at the moment - my weekend was much better - but I did have blueberry pancake with bacon and a smidge of maple syrup and cream for Sunday breakfast - Turkey on Rye from Subway for lunch and then Take out Roast chicken with corn, peas and gravy for dinner. By blood sugar told me I had been bad when I tested it 2 hours after breakfast and it was 9.9mmol/L (we use metric so it will look low compared to how you guys might measure) - I am aiming to be between 5 and 8. Also dinner was way too late as DS19 brought it home when he finished work and I thought he was finishing earlier. I was shocked this morning though to see the bounce on the scales between Sunday and Monday of 900 grams :scared: . Today I was back to protein, fat, lower carb - although I did have a small bit of rye bread and tonight when I checked my levels just now I was at 6.2 much better :)

It’s such a balancing act, isn’t it? A friend of mine with diabetes tells me she struggles more with carbs than sweets.

I love that quote - I hadn't seen it before!

Great job on your blood sugar count! That's got to make you feel better! It's so hard to avoid sugars when they are in so much that we eat without even adding anything to it.

This is my motivation this week. I walked/ran/biked 53 miles last week. But I gained 3 pounds thanks to cookies, ice cream and alcohol. No worries, I’m not beating myself up over it. It was a combination of celebrating the end of school as well as date week (my kids spent the week at my sisters). But I will be more focused on my food this week!

So far this month I've lost/gained/lost the same stinking pound... up, down, up, down. For the remainder of the month I'm taking @HappyGrape 's lead and focussing specifically on weight loss. That is after I had a blow out day yesterday (seems to be going around ;)) that involved eating all the things. I was about 400 calories over, all in red foods. My blood sugar is really high this morning, so no more, that was a one-and-done for me.
