June vs. August

Looks like we can only go in summer again. Last year went for first time in late August. Very hot of course, but not crowded. Got lucky in between the Hurricanes. Is there much of a difference between late August and mid-June as far as weather and crowds?

The crowds will be a little bit better in mid-June as opposed to late-August. It will be a little cooler as well, and by that I mean it will only get up to 90 instead of 95. :) Usually the humidity isn't quite as bad until August. Also be prepared for afternoon rain, every day. A quick 15-20 minute rainshower is a regular occurence all summer.

Mid-June you might still be able to catch Star Wars Weekends at MGM, and the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot. Both are a lot of fun, you should check them out.

While we have not been in Aug last year we were there May 29-June 12 and but the last few days the place was getting very busy. I would not go in back in mid June. Though the first week was okay. It was very hot.

We have been a few times in June and once in August and though both are hot and crowded-June was way better in terms of humidity, crowds and such. :)

As disneyjen stated june is better for crowds and a little less humid. We were there first 2 weeks in June last year....it was empty first week and started getting really crowded 2 week. Aug is also crowded. It is my opinion that late June-aug is about the same approx 90-95 degrees, crowded and always a 1/2 hour rainstorm (don't get me wrong we are going in Aug..because we have to if I could do june 1st I would!) So if you can go 1st or 2nd week in June do it- if not then any time (not July 1-10 it soooo crowded been there done that not going back in July! lol) that fits your schedule! :sunny:

A few years back we went June 12-19, rained a lot, crowded but not too bad. (Usually 30-45 minute wait at peak afternoon times for top attractions) but were able to get a lot done in the mornings without waiting.

.

We were there late May-early June last year. The only real bad day for crowds was the Tuesday after Memorial Day at MK. We didn't have problems at MGM, AK or Epcot.

It was very hot. According to CM's even hotter than usual.

Rain was not bad. Short bursts on two days but nothing that altered our schedule at all.

Really? I went last June and it was jammed! There were so many people there I couldn't believe it! It took us eight hours just to get half way through Magic Kingdom.

I, personally, wouldn't press my luck with the hurricanes. I've been to WDW in July and the heat/humidity is bad enough. I can't imagine what it would be like in August. Mid-June sounds much better though I'm a little surprised so many people say that the crowds are lighter than late August. I know some East Coast schools don't start summer vacation until mid-June. Maybe that helps the crowds.

Maybe it is my imagination but it seems like June weather felt much nicer than August. The humidity in August is pretty brutal and I'm from the south!

From what I have read, crowds start to drop around the 15-16th of August. We were there last June 4-11 and by the 11th, it was pretty crowded

The humidity of August, makes June look better. There are also the hurricanes to consider. August is also a popular time for conferences and conventions.

Helpful hint - NorthEast schools get out anywhere from June 17 to June 24 - then pile down in planes for WDW :)

DS13 & I will be in WDW Aug 13-27 - Im expecting our 2nd wk to have less crowds
we're not activating our APs until the 16th
