June or July

Just wondering if there are any differences, apart from the 4th of July holiday, between going to WDW in June or July? Weather, prices, hours, events and crowds are about the same, right?

It will be hotter in July but that's about the only difference

In terms of resort prices, 7/6/18 sees a tick down in many resort rack rates (value season) which lasts until late August. It obviously varies on the resort and other factors, but July can often be a touch cheaper than June, generally speaking.

Just to put some real world numbers on that statement... the Poly Standard Room rack rate for all of June 2018 is $526 per night. It's $499 starting 7/6/2018. Although this same logic doesn't apply to all resorts - eg, Pop has the same rack rates for both June and July. So it really depends. Discounts could also alter this logic as well.

As far as crowds, we've done the last week of June, July 4th week, and the last week of July over the last few years and they're all pretty much shades of grey in my mind. No one winner over the other.

The weather data probably shows that it's hotter/wetter in July over June, I suspect.

Hope that helps!

:scared1::scared1: :eek::eek: :faint::faint:

I'm so incredibly cheap, I just couldn't even fathom. I don't pay much more than that for an entire week offsite. I'll dig the hole if someone can come plant a big money tree for me. :D

Don't faint...it's just the rack rate. Most folks will have some kind of discount on top of that. :-)

Exactly. Those are very close to the discounted rate we got for Club Level rooms at CR and Beach Club over 4th of July week. Our BC Deluxe Room Club Level was less than $499 even.

Yes it does - thanks!

This year I'd gravitate more towards July because it's more of a sure thing that Toy Story Land will be open. It might be open in June after a Memorial Day opening, but you've got a better chance of it being ready in July than in June.

From the little I've read those groups have more of an impact in July?

Yes, very much so. There are a very small handful in June, but in July they're in full bloom. Yes, they can be annoying, but they wouldn't keep me out of the parks.

Good point! I forgot about Toy Story Land - though I plan on going back later in the year too so can probably wait to see it then. I love the Toy Story movies and the land sounds like it will be immersive but the rides don't sound like they'll be that unique. Do you think many people are scheduling their summer vacation to coincide with Toy Story being open?

June or July, do you have a 3rd option? It's way too hot, wet and crowded to be outdoors on your feet for hours, day after day. Oh wait...........

Definitely!:)

There can be a few of The 15s in June, but July is THE month for The 15s-their numbers won't be "quite" as large the first week of July as compared to the other 3.:)

Also the World Cup is this Summer,so The 15s will be at MAXIMUM "INTENSITY"!lol:)

If Brazil and Argentina were to meet in the Finals,Walt Disney World may SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST!lol:)

So I take it you don't get the luxury of working inside, say, the Haunted Mansion during the worst of the heat? I always felt bad for the poor CMs who have to stand outside in those black uniforms during the summer.

We have done one June trip and this summer will be our third July trip. We did not notice a difference with heat or crowds. They were both hot with afternoon rain. July has been much better with discounts and we always price out the two before booking. Did I say it was hot? Lol!! It's still fun though. Have a great trip which ever you choose!!

No need, HM and ToT CMs have winter and summer costume options that make things a little more comfortable for them. There are umbrellas and/or a canopy at the entrances and I suspect they rotate locations on a regular basis. That's not always the case for Gobal CMs though. No complaints, the good far outweighs the bad.
