We are planning on returning to Fort Wilderness in 2005. We must travel during the summer because we will be spending 2 weeks and do not want to take the boys out of school for this long. We stayed in the 1400 loop last year and loved it. The crowds were not to bad but it rained every day, so much that we almost got flooded out of our site. We are wondering if going in early June would be any drier? Looks like historicaly June and August have the same amount of average rainfall so may not be any better. Also August is value season and would save us some money, but if we would have better weather in June we would go then. Thank you all for your wisdom. Can't wait to go back!!!!!

We too, can't take the kids out of school anymore so can only go during the summer. Last year we went the last 2 weeks of June and the year before we went the first 2 weeks of August. I found June to be drier. It rained almost everyday in August - the typical afternoon thunderstorms they get, but it SOAKED everything. I just felt damp the whole time. It only rained a couple of times in June and we found it much better. Of course, who can predict the weather?;) Have fun!!

we were there mid june in 2002 and mid to late August 2003. had rain both times, but the rain in June of '02 was much worse than what we experineced this past Aug.

the weather there is realy a crap-shoot. If i were to go again and could only pick between June and mid to late Aug, i would go with Aug. The weather may be yucky either way, but the crowds thin out so nicely on the that last week in Aug.

We have school issues also - not for the kids, but for Mr. OriginalRabbit - he's the principal! Our reasoning has always been that it is just a little cooler in June. The better reason is that Mr. OriginalRabbit can often actually relax after coming out of second semester's demanding schedule. August is not only hot, but anxiety usually sets in this time of year for him anticipating open the doors for another school term. Kids need a rest after second semester, too. Of course dreading school opening in August could also put a damper on their enjoyment of Disney. Rain has never stopped us from enjoying the parks on any of our visits since we began visiting with our three year old son and five year old daughter in 1982. Hope we see you in June.:teacher: Be sure to bring your :umbrella: but hope for:sunny: weather!
