June No Buy--Spring into Summer with a little extra cash

Thanks! DH and I started using YNAB this month to get a handle on our expenses and it has been really helpful. In my opinion, it's better than cash envelopes and other methods. Before I make a purchase, I check my YNAB budget (usually on the phone app) to see if I have enough money left in a category. If there isn't any money, I decide if I really still need/want it and if so, then I have to find that money from somewhere else in the budget to make up the shortfall. It has stopped me from making many purchases this month that just weren't necessary.

And the keychains is shipping here on a slow boat from China so who knows when it will show up. But since they were just $0.72 for 2 of them, I am willing to wait. DH actually wants the stormtrooper keychain, so Vadar is for me.

I am going to get really serious about saving money and making smarter decisions. I met with my financial advisor yesterday, and I still have over 75K of medical bills to pay off :/ I saw something on one of the boards about Shopkicks. I downloaded that and earned enough for a $5 gift card in about 15 mins at Target. It's a start, right? lol

13 - Spend. Bought lunch $13.55 (will also feed me tomorrow). Need groceries this afternoon. ETA: Bought groceries, $5 in flashlights, $6 in waterproofing and a $17 ultralight tent for backpacking. $159 at the Blue Logo store.

15 - Spend bought 6 pints of blackberries (on sale and cheaper than I thought), along with various groceries of use. $52. Returned a tent so <27>. Net of 25 spent. That is crazy good for me walking into Target. No random "oh that looks cute" or "what a nice blouse on sale." $24 gas
16 - $229 - Lovell's Design Jewelry, which has been my go-to for jewelry for my mom (and for me) for about 15 years had a 50% off sale due to the closing of their Portland storefront (I guess they're going to online only). Sooo. . .I stocked up. . .for the next 3 years worth of presents. Short term spend for long term reward!
17 - $45 Dinner out, $78 groceries, $27 - Lunch and Diet Cinnamon Rolls (my Friday treat for sucking it up and going to WW to weigh in.)

Well tried for a no spend, but I used my target red card (yay I have a red card now!), to order melatonin, as we are out. Well I ordered it to pick up in the store. I never got a text, so picked up toilet paper, and a few other things we needed, as I was waiting for the text that our pick up order was ready. Well, icees, popcorn and a can of sparkling water later, it became a buy day, as the total of the snacks went over what I had left of our $10. We ended up having a movie night and watched Old Yeller. I cut the boys pizzas into a dog bone shape lol.

Yesterday was a no spend day and my 20th of the month!!! Today will not be, since we decided to order a solar attic fan for over $300 before the $100 price discount ends at Costco at the end of this month. It would normally be $400+. Hoping that it will help with the upstairs of our house that is always much hotter than the main level. And maybe also reduce our electric bill in the summers.

ETA: Decided to grab ice cream after dinner. It was yummy.

They are normally $80 trekking poles, but were in the Warehouse Deals section. I am both and . Good - saved $27 on something that I needed. Bad - spent money when I am trying not to shop Amazon except on Sundays.

24 - $91 - plants for a funeral $50 - Goodwill, but that's clothes for funeral visitation (higher end Dillards brands), 2 pairs of Clarks in my mom's new shoe size, one pair of combaty/ridery boots for cosplay, and 2 work blouses. $15 Walmart - underwear for clothes for visitation.
25 - $48 - lunch, $9 books at gift shop $10 - e-books
26 - $15 - book for work, $8 - hydration pack quick release nozzle
27 - $89 - backpack (Self-justification moment - this is the exact ultralight backpack I have been wanting and stalking on ebay and geartrade. It's $140 retail, $120 on Amazon. . .it's been in the Warehouse deals for $95 for about a week. I was weak and gave in. I got $6 for amazon pantry for choosing slow shipping, so $89.) $9 book for work. I am not even going on Amazon's website until next Sunday (Kindle store excepted for free books.) Planned $15 mosquito netting and tent repair kits at Academy (I am going to hack my cheap tent for non-rain-dang-it-is-HOT use.)

We drove to Round Rock, TX this weekend so the boys could see Paw Patrol on their road tour. They had a blast! Can you guys believe I got a full tank of gas for $.39 at Kroger thanks to 4x fuel points for gift cards and the 2x points for groceries. Spent way too much on food because we ate our for every meal so we will have to cut back somewhere to make up for it.

Thank you! I've seen used (not Amazon Warehouse used, but really used for camping) backpacks at that price point that went for similar prices. I actually stalked one on E-bay that wasn't the exact one I wanted, but close, that went, with shipping, for $86 and had a kid's name in sharpie on the pack. Sooo I am not super upset about it.
