June/July Pal Mickey Swap - Finalized & e-mails sent!

Good MORNING everyone!!

I thought that while we are waiting, I could begin to take everyone's information for the swap. If you are tentative, go ahead and send me the information also.

Please E-MAIL the information to me.

This is what I need for the master list:
1. Full Names (preferably name your reservations are in)

2. Dates you will be in Orlando

3. # of Days you will be in the parks - ie. 4 Day PHP (I am only figuring costs per day of usage in the parks, not off site babysitting).

4. Place of stay and resort phone number (not reservation number, but front desk number) If staying at different resorts, please provide dates beside each.

5. Home and cell phone numbers.

Please DO NOT post your information on the board. I am trying to keep all this as confidential as possible. I am asking all the numbers so I/your swap buddies can contact you wherever you are regarding the swap. I promise not to sell this list to any telemarketers - heheheee.

If any of you can think of something else I may need to include in the list, please let me know. I've only finished one cup of coffee, and all my brain cells aren't awake yet.

Sweet Maxine - I'm planning on getting some hand mitts - like they put on babies to keep them from scratching their faces - for Pal Mickey. Miss Swish said his hands get really dirty, and the black threading runs if you try to wipe them with a wet cloth. So, I thought those little fist mits would be good.

Clothes are a cute idea. That would be a really neat thing for a little boy or girl at GKTW to have for him! And it may help keep him clean while in the swap.

VERY CUTE IDEA!! I have some sources on this board that say you can get cute stuff at teddy bear/doll wear places.

Just to let you know, I bought Mickey's back pack and hand socks today. I know I haven't included this in the cost, but would anyone be opposed to splitting the cost of the backpack, hand socks, cleaning wipes and tag? I think it will come to $1.50 additional each.

I'd look at it as: BDG100 has found fabulous other plans and graciously allowed someone to join in off the waiting list. a Win-win situation!

Hi everyone! And WELCOME MC97 and Mom2Madi! I am SO glad I was able to fit you in. You're full fledged swappers!! I've updated the above schedule accordingly.

I sent e-mails to everyone with either lists or requests for more info. The swap info is not final because I still need to get phone numbers from some of you. But the dates are firm and I sent each of you the total cost of your swap. It ended up being $1.43 per day, plus $1.50 to cover the cost of the back pack, notebook, hand socks, batteries, and oxi-clean wipes. Anything that goes over the $16.42 for the supplies, I'll cover.

PLEASE send out your money orders as soon as possible so I can get my envelope sealed and in a safe place. And if you could, send me a confirmation e-mail to let me know you got your information. I know, I know, I'm compulsive. Check and re-check. I just don't want to miss anyone or make a mistake.

Thanks again everyone for making this possible. OH! Noticed something cool! Pal Mickey starts off at Orange Lake CC and finishes the swap at Orange Lake CC and POFQ before going to GKTW. Thought that was neat how he goes full circle.

Tawnya - I'm SO sorry that I didn't let you know that I had opened a new thread! And aren't we excited!! We've been keeping our fingers crossed for quite a while. I wanted you to notice that your swap pal is staying at the same resort as you! How cool! Easy hand off there!

Everyone: Today I bought PM's tag! It's one of the round "Smart tags" at Walmart. It's LIME GREEN - DISboards' official color - with a big SMILEY in the middle! I thought it fit us perfectly. SO, if you happen to be in the parks, and see someone carrying a PM with that tag on it, it's probably one of our swappers! So feel free to introduce yourselves.

Almost everyone has returned the needed info and I'm preparing the final document. So great to work with all of you!

If it's ok with everyone, I'd like to see if I could send some extra $ to Mom (if it's ok with Mom) to purchase a disposable camera. It would be really nice to maybe have 1 or 2 pictures of PM with every "foster family". If that's ok with everyone, would it be possible to have it sent back to me (COD is fine). I would get the pictures developed and scanned. I would be more than happy to set up an album for our swappers or to send to individual e-mails.

Please let me know if this would be ok. If you're a bit camera shy (and I know I am), a pic of PM enjoying himself would be just as fine, too.

I sent a little extra with mine, too. Just so it would be an even amount, and the extra could be used for batteries, etc. I'll be sure to take a picture of Mickey and try to have him appropriately dressed for our luau night and Pirates night. Maybe I can find a little serape for Mexican theme night, too! This is getting to be more fun than the law allows!!!

Great idea with the disposable camera! I believe they have ones (not even that much more expensive) that is semi-digital...photos are developed onto a CD, so you wouldn't even need to scan each one! I'm sure most would be interested in seeing the pictures, so this might be easier.

I'm so happy to see some of you onboard with the pictures. Thanks for the suggestion about the disposables with CD. I know they have those out there, but it completely slipped my mind.

I also thought that maybe it would be easier for me to buy a prepurchased mailing envelope with postage already on it so that the last person could just drop it in a mailbox. No fuss, no muss.

I LOOOOVE the theme ideas. Maybe my DD and DS can help come up with some creative pics for PM. I'll try to refrain from letting my DD put PM in a princess outfit, though...lol.

WOW y'all! What GREAT ideas!!! This is going to be SO much fun!!

Tretrimble - I am SO glad you mentioned this. I wish you were closer to us. I'd LOVE to help with a photo album for each family. That would be great. I love to scrapbook. Wanna plan a trip to MS in August? Heheee. We might could even meet Vicki in the middle. The CD idea is really a great idea too. I need to look for these digital disposable cameras. Does anyone know if Sam's or Walmart carry them? I bet they do, I've just never seen them. I do know that any pictures can be put on a CD for $1 each at WalMart and Sam's. I'll be glad to pick one up - getting disposable cameras is on my list to do at the end of the week. That is a fantastic idea Tretrimble! We have 11 swappers, so a 24 or 36 exposure would give everyone a couple of pictures each to take with their family. I'll plan on getting one and just put it in his backpack.

I also love the clothes idea. Sweet Maxine - serape' is a CUTE idea!! Matching bandanas or hats would make the cutest picture!

RobinMarie, I'll post the information here, and send you a separate e-mail regarding getting our Mickey to GKTW. I called this morning and left a message for Kathy Aubruner. I'll update as I hear from her.

Robin Marie - I'm trying to get this set up for you so that all you have to do is call her or her assistant on August 4 to have a runner pick him up from your resort. I'm a stickler for checking and double checking.

Here's the information I've received from the most beloved MissSwish who has been an enormous help and a great resource of information. Everyone, please pass your thanks on to her for her help in our swap. She's answered inumerable e-mails from me!

I just saw that you are heading up another swap with a ending donation, this is really snowballing and I think its great!

Here is the information about the donations to GTKW;

I had a nice talk with my contact, Kathy Aubruner and we finally firmed things up.

The donations can either be dropped off at GKTW or they can arrange for a runner to pick him up at the front desk of any hotel in the area. Use Kathy Aubruner as the addressee.

For either to occur, the last person needs to call GKTW at 800-998-kids and ask for Kathy.

If they want to drop off PM then they need to make arrangements because they will need to obtain access to the Village. If they want PM to be picked up by a GKTW runner then they need to give the information as to when and where he will be left. Kathy has voicemail, if she is not available a message can be left.

Kathy did express concern that because they have so many volunteers working the Village, initial communication about what we are trying to do might be confusing to them, but if the donator makes it clear that PM is to go to Kathy Aubruner, then she'll know where he came from.

She wanted me to express her deep appreciation and thanks for thinking of the children to everyone on the board and she hopes that if anyone has the time, that they will call and make arrangements to stop by and see all that the Village offers.
