June, July, August PLANNING thread

MKY: Deal is nice but not the best. You can only book 10 days but the max free days is 3 so I guess you would have to purchase 2 packages and have 2 reservations. Lots of ticket saving for future trips. The ticket discounts don't really work out because you like to stay longer than 1 week. You would lay out some money up front but then you will have that for your next AP. I guess it can work out, I am still figuring it out. I wanted 2 weeks and it cut me off at 10 days. I was able to book starting on June 27 and extend until July 7 but that is it. No real savings. Seasons are way more expensive so the ASsuite came to $293 per night and the Cont came to $357 but value season, no discount that room is $280. I am better off waiting but for you, it should work out.:confused3

Hi, just off the phone. Whew!!!!!!

Still at CR but: 2 different packages. So getting 6 nites free. It is a better deal than the aaa rate. saving about 1800.00 and still saving my ap vouchures for the trip after that. Problem is we have to change rooms. :scared1: We start 9 nites with gv gwing. and then 7 nites deluxe room gw. It is a king bed with "suite" type kitchen, sitting area, larger room 600 sq ft. Not real happy with moving or the king bed thing with sis.:confused3 But we will try it. Nothing else available.
Poly only available 1st 9 nites, and then we can get honeymoon room $$$$$,
:rotfl: for the last 7.
GF could get that, but about as much as my aaa rate. The CR had the tower availble but, sis was here and she is my conscious. NO we are saving money. You know I can't be trusted.:cool2: :rolleyes1

Bug, did SW this afternoon, got good flight times and price was high 300's. each. We booked, but hope to get a credit for future. popcorn::
EE22, I did consider airtran, but alot of people told me of changes of times, and stops.... . so don't want to chance it.

Now, I have to start house cleaning.:scared1: mky:wizard:

MKY and TP2...CONGRATS TO YOU BOTH!!!

Mky...that is very true about Air Tran. My friend dealt with that this summer. Thanks for reminding me. Considering for July.

Check SW whenever you can...I would check morning and evening when I'd get home. Anything lower...re book! I never got a Ding and with me at work, I'm not sure if it would be there when I would get home anyway, but Chicago has more Dings than Reno does.

EE22: I was checking the Cont garden rooms, no suites, and ASMu family suites. Big price differences between regular season and value.

MKY: It is really shocking. We would never be able to go during regular season. The prices with the special were more than what I was looking at during value or at least very close.

Regular and Value season have huge differences.
But, ya never know.
In 06 we had a better deal at Christmas week than in June:goodvibes

EE22: That is crazy. I guess I am always just looking at value season pricing and I never realized how crazy it gets. Funny thing is our first year we went in July but I bought an AP and took the discount. I was so excited I wanted to go right after July 4, which I had read would be really busy. I think I was planning on July 7 to arrive and then the CM told me to hold off for later in the summer. I held off until July 12.:lmao: I wanted to go so bad. We paid $99 per night with the AP and started out with 10 nights booked but then extended onsite an additional 4 nights.:rotfl: Right before we were leaving free dining came out for August. It almost killed me. Now I try to wait and have patience. But it is very hard, if you can't tell.:rotfl:

Hiya everyone,

lazy sunday here. Did xmas shopping yesterday and still exhausted. It was packed out. Guess, cold and rain made the stores / mall crowded. We are securely in the 30's now. At least only flurries, so far > no [ee22] type snow yet.

Finished all our planning {that we could} for march. We ar T- 4 months...... and counting. resort, air, car, tix, ....> and ready and in place. Waiting for the princess & priate tix to go on sale. They 1st said on nov. 7th > but still not ready yet. We also have 1 week of dining still on hold not taking the adr's for that yet.

TP2, I look at the pictures and info on your suite at ASMu and it looks really nice. 2 bathrooms that is so worth it. I think your family will be very happy.

Happy sunday and planning, mky:cutie:

It's way too cold here too already. I have to move from my fall coat already to winter. It snowed here Fri and Sat but didn't stick, but it's Dec cold out today:mad:

The stores here yesterday were busy too...I think Kohl's had a big sale early on Sat...too many people out. This time of year drives me mad because even if I just need something quick at the store, it's a major ordeal.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

I'm trying to figure out what to do about my holiday baking spree...DL11 has 3 basketball games over Turkey break :scared1: and they are all at least 1 hour from here. It starts Monday for practice. The party is over for Mom with laundry that's all I know:laundy: DH laughed at me on Friday night because I said, "it's our last Friday night off till the end of Feb...I DON'T EVEN LIKE BASKETBALL." The late Tuesday nights are goona be different that's for sure:rolleyes:

DL11 said to me yesterday...we are only 7 months away from our trip. I'll try to hang onto that as we journey though the winter again.:upsidedow

ee22, thats really not bad 7 months. I am happy my october trip is finally under 1 year. Your DL trip is also moving up. What are you planning for DL? How many days, which resort, anything else in california?
DL is so different from wdw. You think you know your way around, but we where lost. Been there 3 times, last time in march 95'. It was packed. Way more locals, than tourist. We didn't stay there either.

I know about the weather, this is gonna be a wicked winter.

mky:cutie:

mky...I asked on here about how many days and people thought 4-5. Don't think we'll do much else because I am not hip on LA traffic. Some did really recommend Catlina which I guess is really neat. We shall see. 2011 is a long way off, but I know it will be here before we know it. Leaning towards Grand CA. Probably won't ever go back and we won't do WDW that summer too, so given what WDW costs we could blow more bucks on a room:rotfl: I have a couple books, but you're right...seems really confusing to me.

MKY and EE22: So sorry you guys have such cold weather already. I know it is gonna drop overnight here and we won't be ready. We had the A/C on in the car today.:confused3 Little scary really.

I am in for a super busy week. DD9 will be DD10 tomorrow and DD7 will be DD8 on Friday. Add to that my dads birthday on Wednesday and an out of state family reunion on Saturday.:headache: Next week we get to go to Disney on Ice, looking forward to that, but then the kids pretty much have off the week of Thanksgiving. Of course I am hosting and I have no idea when I will get to go shopping or cook. My MIL volunteered to make mashed potatoes. I jumped on that.:rotfl:

Also noticed the increase in shopping this weekend. I had to get something for DD9 for her birthday. I am almost done with Christmas, thank goodness. Not doing gifts with my parents and sister this year. Trying to simplify life a bit.:rolleyes1

Hope everyone had a wonderful week.:goodvibes

It was 74 on my birthday on the 3rd and snowing on the 7th. Very strange.

Good luck with your week and happy birthday to the DD's and your dad.

We were invited to friends for Turkey Day so I'm taking rolls, pie and carrot cake. It will be fun and more fun with friends than family:rotfl:

Ever have scalloped corn? never had it till we moved here...love it.
That a tenderloins...Iowa born I guess.
They are pork like the little piggies here;)

Never had scalloped corn. Sounds interesting.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I know I am going to be exhausted at the end of the week. DD4 just took out the Disney photo album again. She likes the one from 2006. She looks at this think all the time.:goodvibes

tp2: I will send the recipe...it does have eggs in it though. Some others on the internet might not. It's one of my faves. I LOVE corn!! especially cream style. I never had it though till I moved here. For my birthday my mom always made our favorite meal and mine was Thankgiving dinner :goodvibes I had to have black olives and cranberries too with all the other stuff to go along with it. I have a recipe for homemade cranberry sauce too if you want it...uses real cranberries...yummy. Many people don't like it though.

DL11 loves pumpkin pie and my recipe makes TWO pies which is nice :goodvibes

I would love the recipe for the scalloped corn. I always had Grean Giant creamed corn as a kid. As for the cranberry sauce, the family INSISTS on Ocean Spray. And it has to be JELLIED!:lmao: I like the real berries but I get in trouble if I get too fancy. DH's family is very simple. I remeber the first holiday being frozen broccolli and cheez whiz. Not that there is anything wrong with that but I was brought up with everything fresh, and recipes. We always prepared food from scratch for the holidays. Nothing came from a package so I was shocked that not everyone is like that.:rotfl: More used to that now and I realize that I have no idea how my grandmother did it all. She must have taken something because she would sew her own clothes too and they were beautiful. Everything from everyday stuff to ball gowns. I sometimes find it hard just to get to the store. She is my idol,:lovestruc that is for sure.

Hi Tomar: Thanks for the well wishes. Busy week here. I think I remember from last year that you have the same situation with your boys.

My notifications are spotty at best. I got none yesterday. I just happened to check last night and saw the posts. I don't use AOL either so maybe something with DIS.:confused3 Funny though because when the code came out last week I got a million notifications and I could not keep up. Had to cancel that subscription.:rotfl:

I agree about the shopping. I was thinking the same thing. The stores are mobbed and the registers have long lines. I was out to buy birthday gifts and everyplace was mobbed.

Have a great week everyone.:flower3:
