Tomar: So funny. I bet that if we got together we have a lot of similar traditions. My grandma died when I was 12 and I was devastated. I still miss her a lot. Funny how in such a short time she instilled such great memories and traditions. I wish it was more like that now for my kids but I guess that you have to embrace the changes in life too.:goodvibes

TP2- I am so very sure that all the wonderful family traditions that your Grandma instilled..... are alive in you and therefore in the girls.....
Life is short this is true....we need to embrace all that we hold near and dear to our hearts in every way !:cloud9: ....I try to talk to my Princess everyday for that reason....princess:
She told me last night...... she went on the potty !!!! :rotfl:
Gam-ma said.....YAAY !!!!!! :goodvibes

Tomar: Thank goodness for the computer too. I am sure you get to see pictures all the time too. That is wonderful.

I have a question for everyone. I have one day park passes left from buying the tickets in order to get free dining. I am unsure where to go to upgrade them. Do I go to the park guest service window or can I do it at conceirge in the hotel. I would think that I could do it at the hotel but because we are not on a package I can see them making me get them at the park. I figure someone here may know, but then again you are all AP gals so maybe I should ask over on the theme park board.:goodvibes

Hi everyone

Well it is hard to believe it has been a week since I was online. My DH thinks I must be unwell. :rotfl2:

We went to my brothers wedding this past weekend. Complete with 18 hours of drive time (round trip). It was very nice, but extremely small. It was just the small group of us that gathered and the minister had everyone sign the copy of the license they keep so they would have a record of everyone that came. Both have been alone for a long time. Both spouses died a long time ago so it is nice to see 50+ getting married again.:grouphug:

The talk of the holidays sounds very nice for everyone. I would love to see a show of hands for Italian, or married an Italian in this group. :thumbsup2

We are all very lucky to be looking forward to nice holidays with family and friends. So many are not going to have very nice holidays this year with the economy the way it is.

I agree with MKY that it is all about choices. One of DD10s friends asked if we were rich the other day. She has never been outside the county we live in. I think that is sad but I see what choices her family makes instead so sorry, I am not taking you with us. :lmao:

Happy Christmas shopping everyone.

Wow, I missed so much. Tomar & tp2, My dad's best friend [since his childhood] was italian, and we thought we where relate somehow,[unfortunately no just all grew up togther] but: I remember my 1st thanksgiving over there >> We had salad, then the lasagna, I thought we where done eating:rotfl: >> we still had a full turkey dinner to go. :scared1: My parents hardly cooked the turkey.:confused3 :confused3 They had the best holidays.

My grandma, I lost in 4th grade too. She lived with us. She could cook a full meal in minutes and nothing in the kitchen. :confused3 Not sure how she did it >> She worked up till 68, and died [still with a job]. Only grandparent we ever knew. We have the smallest family.

I think I would try that corn dish too but not sure about the double boiler thingy.

mky:cutie:

Hi Ladies! I'm behind, but that's my normal state now. Bball started...more laundry...homework all night too.

You have to go to the park TP2 or DTD.

Hi Everyone: I will say that I definately miss the true traditions in an Italian family. Even just the Sunday dinners around the table with the Italian pasteries. No one with true traditions anymore for me. Very sad. I think everyone is too busy now. I just wish it all came easier. It always seemed effortless when I was a kid and now the little things are a lot of work.

EE22: Thanks for the info. I was hoping to be able to upgrade at the hotel. I guess I will spend that first day running around.

International Gateway works too. I remember the first year you were doing Beaches N Cream...it's a short walk for that.

TP2- On any given Sunday there is a true Italian Dinner going on at the Tomar`s house !!:cloud9:
The First day in the world is always a hectic one ....if you get all the things you must out of the way in the begining ...it will make for a wonderful rest of the trip Im sure :goodvibes

EE22- Hope DL11 does well with her Games !:woohoo:

Tomar: Don't be surprised if you find me on your door step on Sunday evening!:goodvibes

EE22: International Gateway actually works perfect. I would go to Beaches and Cream again on an arrival day. No ADR's so it makes it easy to show up at will and not stress over being late.

Trying to come up with some fillers that can be cooked in a micro. I am shocked at how many people bring toaster ovens, crock pots, hot plates, etc. Maybe there will be a toaster oven cheap on black friday. :rotfl: I may go for that and then leave it there in the end. I don't really want to cook on vacation but we were pretty sick of the food court and TS is a fortune. Any given buffet will cost our group about $150.

Have a great weekend everyone. I will be in your neck of the woods tomorrow Tomar. Don't be surprised if I bring my carload for dinner on Sunday!:rotfl:

TP2: I wonder if we'll have a Black Friday this year?

I would bet even if you bought one at Walmart when you arrived, it would still pay for itself in the long run! There are a lot of pre packaged foods these days that's for sure.

TP2- Im hysterical !! Tomorrow I`ll be in YOUR neck of the woods !!!:goodvibes
We are going out to the Island to visit a friend of the family whose wife just gave birth to a little girl.....a get together for Dinner.....
But .....anytime your in New Jersey....It`ll be my pleasure !!:woohoo:

EE22- Good Luck to DL11 on her game !!!:cheer2:
They are saying that Black Friday here will be more like "Black and Blue" Friday .....ick !

Happy Weekend everyone !:grouphug:

Black Friday: I wonder with how bad things are if the sales will be out there this year? Who knows. I avoid that day big time. This year we'll be heading to a bball game anyway in Davenport and that's where our last Disney Store was...it's gone now.

I know you said Tomar that the mall near you is busy, but it's not here that's for sure. I'm going to the mall south of here tomorrow so we'll see how busy that one is...it usually is busier than ours.

I'm so glad it's the weekend. This week about did me in! State tests:scared1: yuck and my own kids weren't very happy about it either. I have several issues with kids in my homework too:headache:

Tomar: That is hysterical. We have family there so everyone is taking a road trip and meeting in the middle.

EE22: Yes, there are lots of premade things, problem is going to be finding stuff with no eggs. Lots of produce and yoguart, cheese, etc. Someone suggested bringing a cooler. SW lets it on so maybe I will fill it with non perishables and just duct tape it closed.

Hope next week is better. I know this week was nuts for me too.

TP2: here's a question for you. I wonder if the 7 for 4 deal did what Disney wanted it to? That being new bookings or did they just switched bookings? Being have to book by 12/20 or whatever is it I suppose allows them to look down the line to determine if rooms are full. Last time is was released later in the spring.

Hi everyone

I guess the traditions have changed since so many families have two adults working full time.

We still do the traditional dinner for the holidays but my family eats a lot of pasta during the work week.

No Italian in our families...but Ukranian on my aunts side (married to my dad's brother) so we got to enjoy a Bubba while she was alive. None of my grandparents were local when I was growing up.

I'm married to an Italian:goodvibes

Well, the mall today is busier...the one here. Yesterday was very busy but there was an Iowa game and that mall is like having a swarm of locust decend upon it when there is a home game. I did find out though when watching our taped shows from the week that the owners of that mall who also own the one here on the other side of town that's been a ghost town for years and the HUGE mall in Des Moines are filing for bankruptcy:confused3 Their stock went from $50 a share to 49 cents:scared1: Most of the spots are filled too so I'm not sure what the deal is although the one that the city used this summer after the flood has no stores except JCP now.

WOW , that is interesting EE22. hope things pick up. Our mall here is crazy. must be the disneystore.:thumbsup2 Sis and I are off tommorrow > so want to do some serious xmas shopping then. Hoping we can get through the malls.

Candi, sounds like your family is like ours. ;)

I still wish we where Italian. Dad is greek, similar but with weirder food.:rolleyes1 Mom is german / irish. And had the temper to prove it.:scared1:

I worked last nite extra [on call] 11pm > 3am. = feel like a truck hit me.:rotfl: Getting tooooooooooo old for this job.:confused3

Hope everyone is having a great weekend, Better than the Bears.:rotfl: Yikees, that was terrible. :rotfl:

Snow flurries here today and cold. We are fighting the leaves thou. And loosing.

mky:cutie:

mky...sorry about all the work. DS is going on an antamoy field trip to visit the cadaver lab. He's very excited:scared1:

The next 7 days for me at school will be torture and the weeks between Turkey break and Winter Break are evil:headache: oh well...all in a day's work of "pulling teeth."

They interviewed some workers of the stores in the mall and they didn't seem worried. They said.."someone will buy it." Okay...who is this economy? I was rather confused. I suppose that when the company files though then they are just protected. Maybe they will ask to be bailed out too:guilty: Like Tomar said though...you'd never know things were bad!

DH is a Bears fan....

It snowed all the way back for me Sat. Nothing stuck, but it was very cold that's all know.

It's terrible that I am married to an Italian and my MIL uses Ragu:confused:

Hi Gang !!!:grouphug:
All I can say is ...................
The Mall here In New Jersey was Nuts today !!
we couldn`t find a parking space .....and when we did...we had to walk to the mall like we were walking to IG from the Beach Club !!

MKY- sorry about your late hours  .....Sleep in tomorrow if your off from work !:cloud9: ...then you`ll be ready to shop ! :flower3:

TP2- Dinner out in the Island was great Sat. Hope you had a good time in my state as well !!:flower3:

EE22- Im married to an Italian Man as well !! ;)
