TP2, [ding questions]{thanks for all the info, your great!} So your supposed to keep your computer on all the time? Are ding offers, like short term, only a few weeks out, or are offers out in advance too? Are dings better than the usual discounts? Do dings usually come out on certain days of the week? like every tuesday or something?
If we fly southwest, not using the baggage return is gonna kill me. But, if the prices are good, I can put up with it.

MKY: No problem. Dings happen at anytime on every day of the week. There is no rhyme or reason but I will say they they are generally during business hours, maybe as late as 8:00pm. Usually the first Ding of the day is around 9:00am ET. It is as much work as AP codes. You have to stay on top of it. Also, sometimes Dings are good for a couple of hours and a new one will come out later in the day, usually in late afternoon. In 2005 I booked in April for our July trip and in 2006 we booked in early June for late August. Also, Ding is not always the cheapest way to go. I also sign up for the newsletter and updates. Last year I booked on a nationwide sale and THOSE prices flucuate so you NEED to watch them. What city are you leaving from, I will keep an extra eye open for you.

As for the baggage pickup, it is not really that bad but I know nothing else. We drop our bags at the curb on the way down and don't see them again until we hit our hotel and on the way home our bags go on the ME bus and we must drag them from the curb right into the door where the SW gate is. There are always guys there with carts to bring your luggage to security, you just need to tip. Still way cheaper than the prices you are talking about with other airlines. The most expensive trip I have seen one way is $129 on SW. I am sure that may change though.

Thanks TP2! We will be flying out of chicago but southwest uses midway [mdw] not ohare. It is about 20 miles from here but in chicago traffic time = 2 to 3 hours? Actually, our house and area are in the southwest approach for landings. They fly over so often that VADER Hears a plane and he looks up at it. He has done that since he was a puppy. We just wave from the deck.

mky: We flew SW to Reno...I never did get a Ding fare there. Orlando has them a lot though. There is also a thread for Dings on here under transportation too.

Even though I never got a Ding fare, I looked daily...morning and evening for lower fares and both times I was able to lower our fares by a lot. I saved the most for the guys flights over Christmas and the credit was good for our flights in Sept. They are good for up to a year to use the credit. So, you could use them for another trip within a year of purchase. TP2 was the one that taught me all about SW SW rocks.

When the time comes, if you do fly them, I can fill you in on check in

TP2: I hope you are successful with DD. That does not sound like fun.

TOMAR: Pixie Dust for PP. Not fun at all, but in the long run it's always worth it. I've been really busy with school...it's endless.

Almost forgot:

I got my "big delievary". from doing my disney log. I would of done it for nothing. It was very eye opening, as to what we spent our money on. and how much. The "lady" kept bringing up you will get a wonderful surprise.... ... . It might take a several weeks, but it is well worth waiting for..... . I replied: I would settle for a discount code next year. She pretended to ignore me. Now here it is a twenty-five dollar gift card for disney. Ok, I admit it could be used for a disney lunch, or stuffed animal but: I really though it might be something special. Not necessairly expensive, but a special pin, or trinket; only available to people who did the log. Sad, when I have more imaginagtion than disney. Looks like I was right. Immagineering needs mky! I have got to move to florida and join up. STAT.

Everytime I check ...Ive missed alot of posts....BAWAAAHHH ...Looks like my computer and the DIS aren`t co-operating !

Anyway...I am sending out alot of Pixie dust for all of you ladies to get a GREAT Ding with SW !!! Continental is our carrier here in New Jersey....If we went to another airport we could use SW....but then we`d have to give up all the "One Pass Miles" we`re trying to accumulate for a free ticket for our next trip ! Our Supermarket even gives us "one pass miles "..(1 one pass mile for every 2 dollars spent)....and .....after all ....ya gotta buy groceries ...Right? ...So that`s why we are sticking with them....Jet Blue has opened also here...we flew them once to the world...out of JFK in New York....they are a good airline also
Weather flash -....it`s gettng cold here now ! ....We changed the filter in the furnice and tryed the heat for the first time this morning....ICK !

About the airlines- Im hopeing that with all the extra expenses for the overweight and baggage it self...tht the free ticket will compensate the cost this year ....Hopeing anyway !....Continental has even changed the amount of points for the popular flights to Orlando ....the more popular the flight...the more points you have to use...this is the first time this happened ! .....The US Economy is doing a number on all of us in one way or another ! .....
Jet Blue is cool ....Each seat has its own TV ...yes...and the seats seemed bigger to me..... ...
well however you fly...Im glad that you decided to !!

MKY- .....I hear ya ! ...We all need to get from Point A...to Point B (for us...that means getting to Orlando )...and there are risks involved in everyway we travel these days I guess ...but ...I much prefer to do the shortest amount of traveling as possible !
Im very happy that you guys are happier too ! ....Hope that Bug is feeling well !

I missed a lot too Tomar.

Tomar: Thanks for the well wishes for DD4. Eggs are in everything so it will take some time to get used to it. No icecream but frozen yoguart is okay? I need to go to Wild by Nature or high a nutrionist. I am having a tough time with this one.

MKY: It would be so nice if all of her symtoms were related to the eggs. It is just going to be hard to phase it all out. If we can get her off all the medicine I will be a happy camper.

TP2, With the food allergy > it very well could be related to, causing, or at least making: her symptoms worse. This can only make her overall better.

Tomar, sweet to ask about bug. She is doing better, from at least what we can see. She will be having alot of test and repeating the ultrasound in early November, to see if we are on the right track.

I don't have time to read all of these...but, yes, mky, if you see that your date has cheaper fares you can go in and change them and you get a credit.

It's under "travel tools" and you book the new lower fare and it credits your "account". You don't get money back to your CC, but you have credit with SW. That's why people like Dings...you can do the same thing.

I changed ours several times and then used those to purchase a non stop to Reno which was much more money for our return for some reason. It worked GREAT! I only made one mistake on the very last one I did...I didn't change a reservation...I made a new one and I paid for it, but it was only $2.

When you do the change you enter your old reservation and it pulls in the credit you have with SW.

TP2- I know that this isn`t gunna be a walk in the park for you to find things for DD4 to eat without eggs .....hang in there. ...You`d be supprised the food that has Wheat flour that I couldn`t give my oldest DS...I spent hours reading food labels in the supermarket
I think your gunna have to be careful too...of ever giving DD4 a flu shot...I know that the nurse in the allergist`s office always asks me if Im allergic to eggs when I get it....funny....I say no Im not allergic to eggs...and every year I get a reaction.....
Im glad that she can have Frozen Yogart at least ....Tell her that is MORE yummy than icecream !!

EE22- WOW...Sounds like SW`s Dings work really well for a discount when you get them !!

MKY - I will keep you posted on any specials I find for next March.* We will be renting a car as well so I will be shopping.* I have our flights already but I am still watching to see if there are better rates out.TP2 - good luck with the allergy issues.* I am sure all the issues are related as well since I have experienced that too (milk here).* Yes vacinations will be an issue, but you can still talk to your doctor about getting the really important ones and monitoring her, there are options.* With the flu vacine, if everyone else in the house gets the shot, it would help protect her since they won't bring it home with them.* Good luck and keep the faith, it is becoming very common and there are a lot more choices than before.* Ask the allergist about egg white versus egg yolk - it seems that I remember something about that once they have the allergy under control.

Tomar - I hope PP does not suffer much.* It is better when they are younger and can heal faster.*

Hope everyone is enjoying there weekend. Terrible day at work today. One of those extreme, situations. Seems like we get this stuff more and more. Tommorrow can only be better.

I am sitting here watching Now Voyager [betti davis], Oh, my, you new englander's... We went last nite and saw "BEVERLY HILLS CHIAU..." [I have no idea how to spell that.] It was so good! Of course, the 2nd lead is a german shepherd!
