Thanks Tomar,:thumbsup2 the girls really loved the water slides at POR I wish River Country was still there. They would have loved that. But like I said, after last year at Pop with DD9 getting sick from the pool water, I don't know if they will want to go to the pool anyway. There is so much to do there I am sure they will be able to keep themselves occupied.:rotfl: I broke the news to DH last night, he was okay about it. Would not commit but did not say no or get mad about it.:rotfl2: That is a really good sign.:woohoo:

OK Folks....So today is 62 degrees here in New Jersey.... nice weather right ?....NOT:scared: ... we`re having the worst storm out there !!!! I`ve never experienced ...Thunder and Lightning like this in......January ????!!!:scared1:.....or even remember when it was 62 degrees in a winter month for that matter
I suppose we should be grateful that it isn`t the "S" word .....or by now we probably would be knee deep in it !!!

We are having the exact same weather. We lost power for almost 3 hours this morning. We have not lost power since that big blackout 5 years ago when all of NYC was down. My kids were going crazy. And to top it off we have Optimum Voice so we had no phone service.

Ouch !About the phone TP:eek: .....That`s why we won`t get the triple play ....we have it on cable (Optimum)...but the phone and computer is the regular company (with broadband though).....Now is when I appreciate the "Cell Phone" most of all !!:cloud9:
Heaven forbid my Mother can`t get me at home when I say Im here ! ;) :scared1: LOL
Our Developement is always the first to loose power too...but today it`s hanging in there Thank Goodness !...
Stay safe !!
This is wild isn`t it ??!!!
It was as dark as night a little while ago...now it`s getting lighter here in NJ.
Soooooooo Wierd !!

It just got dark here again too. I had to turn on the lights.

Thank god for cell phones. That is how I communicated this morning. We waited out on the triple play because of the phone service but the price difference was so substantial for us we couldn't see paying the 3 bills anymore. Felt like we were throwing money away. Luckily we hardly ever lose power but when we do I feel so vulnerable. Here goes the thunder again. I guess I am picking up DD at the bus stop.:headache:

hiya everyone!:yay:

Its been raining here too. But colder today. our heat wave has moved away. So they are saying this rain will be snow by tonight (at least here).

TP2, that is good news with DH. :wizard: When we stayed at the wl there where alot of "bikes" parked around the corner from the pool.:scared1: No they are not sister resorts but they are only a short walk away.

Tomar how are the adr's going? Any recommendations? Or must haves? Are you guys going to try yak & yeti or the new buffet at ak?

EE22, saw foot / osteo md today. Now, I need a bone scan? My foot pain is radiating up my calf > so looking for a new problem? This can't be good news. :confused3 But I remain optimistic. I told sis, I am so tired of worrying about, or thinking about this stupid foot.:sad2: Hope yours in better? Eyes?

Candi, We liked the WL too, but when we stayed there the bus was with FW (tp2 not a bad thing just is sooooooo big back there) that I didn't like the ride around at nite. I know it flips with the other monorail ones and fw off and on.

Happy planning mky:cutie:

Hi MKY:cutie: ...The Tomars` ADR`s are all done !!:yay: ....WE passed on Yak and Yetti because of the Asian food..and Mr. Tomar`s Diabetes...couldn`t chance it !!:scared:
Ohana is very accomodating ...they prepare all the food with nothing sweet...as ginger or any other sweet dressings...so we opted for the usual ;)
WE basically stuck to our tried and true Restaurants...
I`m praying that your foot is ok MKY....:flower3: I hope the scan comes back negative !!!

TP2- Keep the cell phone close ...and I hope that this weather blows over ...SOON !!!:scared:
I have to go food shopping now in this !!!:scared1: Wish me luck !! ;)

Chao for now friends ! :grouphug:

MKY: Sorry to hear about your foot. Hope all goes well with the scan.

I like your ideas about FW. I didn't realize you could walk to WL, I thought you needed to take the boat. What about the golf cart, could that make it to WL?

EE22: How IS that eye doing???

Tomar: Thanks for support. I need to go food shopping too but I don't want to drag the kids. Can you pick me up some milk?:rotfl:

Hi All..
TP2...I hope your power isn't still an issue. We lost power for nearly two days back in mid December and had to bail that stupid sump pump pit again. I'm not sure if I posted that or not. The plumber didn't install the back up pump right.

My friend and her family really liked FW. Some of those paths were the ones we took on the sleigh ride last year at Christmas:goodvibes

Enjoy the warm weather. We got 4 inches of snow last night.
TIRED of Winter I am.

MKY: Tusker House...a friend of mine was just there in December and said it was GREAT. They loved it. Great food and good character interaction.

HOLY COW...we have a lot of pages on this puppy. I was looking for the ap rates from this summer and didn't realize how many pages we have.

My eye...not good...hurts :guilty: a lot and my vision is still not even close to normal. I still cannot read BIG roads signs or the :surfweb: computer:headache: grading finals didn't help me that's for sure

My foot...hasn't recovered from Chi Town yet and not having on good shoes.
I'm worried about WDW:rolleyes:

I fell in the parking lot at work today TWICE on the ice. I guess staff members don't get sand or salt:confused3 Today was work day for staff and they did NOTHING to our lots. I slipped right under the car and bashed my shin both times on the side of the car. I thought at first I broke my leg:scared1: My worst thought...hairy legs:lmao: I can't see to shave them and I cut myself so badly the last time I decide "natural" was it for now.

okay...enough of Eeyore thoughts:idea: ....Tigger Type news...we might be going earlier to the World. :cheer2: Long story and not 100% yet, but there is an event at the Wide World of Sports for the kids.:woohoo:

MKY:
Tomar: Thanks for support. I need to go food shopping too but I don't want to drag the kids. Can you pick me up some milk?:rotfl:

LOL TP2- Anytime !!! Only It might take me 3 or 4 hours to get it from NJ to LI ....;)

EE22- YIPEE !!! On you guys being in the world longer !!:yay: :yay:
YIKES ! on your fall in the parking lot !!:scared: I hope your OK !!

MKY:cutie: Pixiedust and good wishes for the scan of your foot !!pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Hey Gang

Crazy weather for January. In this area (SW Ontario) we often get one spell of thunderstorms each winter during one thaw or another but nothing like what you are getting. We got heavy rain and some wind but no power outages.

MKY- I am happy for the news about the different bus route. We took the bus to the Hoop Dee Doo show and it was one of the draw backs that made us decide not to stay there. Maybe a few days in the cabin would be cool...wonder how many DVC points that would be? I will have to check.

I hope the scan turns out to okay and maybe will provide you with a plan they can fix with. pixiedust:

TP2 - Stay at home mom :worship: :worship: It takes a special kind of blood and I don't have it. I go insane at about the 6 month mark. In Canada we get a year maternity leave now (it was six months when I had mine). I was ready to go back when the time came but leaving the babies was killer! :scared1:

All working mom's need stay at home moms in their lives to make it work and I have been extremely fortunate with the ones in my life.  I have very high quality friends and neighbours that helped me out so many times in the past and still do.

I have not told this group the story of my most beloved sitter. She started watching DD12 when she was 11 months old and DD9 when she was 6 months old, and she still took them the 3rd of January for a day out of the house when they were out of school but I was back at work.

11 years she stood by us and took care of both kids with all her heart. There were a lot of days she worked 10 hours since I needed drive time on top of my minimum 9 hour day. She has become part of my family and attends all family functions now.

Her husband has worked for me, her daughter babysat at night and on weekends when she got older (9 when we started) and she now house sits for us when we go away.

They are not very well off but are great hard working people. Her (and her husband's) reward for her love and dedication to my kids was a 6 night trip to WDW - all expenses paid this past Nov/Dec. :wizard: She has only flown once to see family 20 years ago and never stayed a week in a hotel and she has always dreamed of going to Disney.

It took me three years to plan and save for (to be honest - so that I would not have to give up a trip of my own) and we told her in February 07 that we were doing this for them and she had a ball planning the trip. It was by far the most joy I have ever had giving someone a gift.:cloud9: But man did she earn it! :worship:

EE22 - what is wrong with your eyes? I lost my site once due to an eye disease. I wonder if it is what you have? pixiedust:

Wow wasn't I chatty tonight...:woohoo:

well...it's official...we are going earlier. The kids seem excited about going to the Wide World of Sports. Worse case...they don't compete and we are at WDW 3 extra days:cool1:

Things are so up in the air for DS and football as the old coach resigned and we do not know who the new one is yet so summer is sort of up in the air, but if we can't go on a vacation...forget that noise!!

TP2: forget to mention the $74 rate at AKL. We had a comeback rate for 03 when things were down at WDW. We had POFQ for $74 and they closed it for rehab so for $74 we could move to almost anywhere and that same price for AKL standard so we went for SV for $94 per night.

MKY: I hope your foot isn't a bigger issue. What will the bone scan tell the doc exactly? I have figured out that the reason Danskos work for me is the sole does NOT bend. I have Merrills for snow and they make my foot hurt. I have two pairs of shoes for WDW...a pair of Dansko sandles I just bought...and MBT which I have tennis shoes and sandles. I am hoping they work.

Candi: my eye is from my contacts. I just hope it get wells at this point. I see everything like I have one contact in and one not in since my vision in my right eye is blurred. With a correction of -10.5 my vision is 20-50...it was 20-70 which means I cannot see the big E on the eye chart clearly.

Tomar: reworked all my ADRs for more days:banana:

Still need advice from someone on BC DVC Studio versus BC Standard room. They are both the same price. Not sure which one will have an ap rate if any.

DD will get her wish to use SAB. I was going to try SSR but we were going to do BC for SAB anyway. AKV has NO rooms except a value studio and we are going to have to move regardless so why not try BC.

I am leaning towards the stand room because of the daybed and the 2 queens. Not sure what to do though.

EE22 - I have pretty bad eyesight but I have never liked contacts. I had Iritus in 2001 and it left me blind for about 4 weeks. Even with my glasses on I could only see outlines of things.

I could not drive, read, watch TV or work. I had difficulty cooking and everything else you need to be able to see to do. The kids were just 5 and 2 at the time. The pain was indescribable. It did clear up with very aggressive treatment. Did they put you on Steroid drops?

The worst part was we were due to take our second trip to WDW only a week after I came down with this horrible condition.

I hope your eyes get better and soon. pixiedust:

Hiya everyone!:yay:

Wow, we where nuts at work today. RSV in rampant. Keep them babies away from everyone. It is colder here today, but we missed the snow somehow. :worship: I had 2 inches of frost to dig off at 6am.

EE22:banana: Yeah! that sounds really cool. extra days, and maybe getting into a game at wide world of sports. Congrat's to your wonderful kids! I would lean toward the standard room too, for the beds. 2 queens and the daybed. I believe the studio only has 1 bed, and the pullout couch? Yes, you do get the little kitchenette. small fridge, sink, toaster, microwave. Now, I am not sure about the bathroom, is there 2 sinks or only 1. I think the second sink is the little small kitchen sink. The beach club is frequently in the ap rates, so you should be ok.

Foot, hopefully it will be nothing. But he said since the pain is now up my calf and on the side of my foot. I could have a stress fracture or pulled the ligaments & muscles from losing the arch to the bottom of my foot. So now screwed up my leg. Treatment will be anything from a cast:scared1: or shooting the foot again and getting special orthotics for my shoes again. So I am actually hoping for anything other than a cast.

Candi, that is a wonderful story. What a great thing you did for a great lady.

Tomar, we could of walked into yak and yeti in nov. but really wasn't that impressed. I like pizzafari and sitting in the back room with my sandwich. But maybe I can talk sis into the buffet at tusker.

TP2, Nothing wrong with being a SAH mom. My mom was.:) Your girls are very lucky.

Everyone, have a great weekend. Happy planning Mky:cutie:

MKY - I hope the foot is okay. Having spent a lot of time in casts as a kid, you can adapt if you get creative. If it would solve the pain, it might be worth it. Think how long you have been laid up already with the problem.

I wish I could disinfect the lockers at the school - I swear the germs can be seen filling the halls when the kids open the doors to them.

SAH moms ROCK :cool1: - never had one but at times I wish I did. For us, my mom worked full time to put milk on the table, she did not have a choice....I wonder what she would have picked if she could have...there were 6 of us. :scared1: Four boys, two girls. :scared1: :scared: :scared1: I am the youngest. But I have the coolest mom ever! :cloud9:

EE22 - hats off to you. :cheer2:

The new DVC vacation planner came on Friday so I have been dreaming of 50 vacations that I don't have the vacation time or money to pay for.....:rolleyes1 But a girls has got to dream. :yay:

EE22: That eye. I still think you should consider Lasik.

That foot is pretty scary too. Disney is rough on people with healthy feet. You need to take care of that.

How exciting that you can go down early. I think, any excuse to be at DW is worth it, even if they don't compete.;)

MKY: You have me nervous now. DD9 has flat feet and needed orthotics this year. She has heel pain and also shin pain. She has shin splints and god knows what other problems. To hear her complain is one thing but to hear the pain from an adult makes it more real. I hope all goes well for you.

Oh, and I know all about RSV. DD9 had Bronchialitis when she was 7 weeks old. Horrible experience. Made me a germophobe.

Candi: What a wonderful story about your neighbor. I get paid so I don't think anyone will be paying me for my obsession. But, that money is what is paying for the trip so in a way...

I will say that before kids, I never thought I would be here. I planned on working forever right up until my first daughter was born. I fought with my boss to bring my laptop home on my pathetic 12 week maternity leave. BUT...once she was born, my life changed. No one else could change her diaper let alone take care of her. We saved money so I could stay home with baby number 2 and then I was home already when baby 3 came around. My only regret was putting my oldest in daycare for 2 years. I wish I could have been home to love her all the time. I am not going to say it is easy...you just need to bite your tongue a lot!!!

TP2...did you use a shopping service last summer? I remember you saying you might.

The kids will be competing at 8 am on three mornings so we will for sure need food in the ONE BEDROOM (I'm so excited:banana: ). I don't want to shop until we move to AKV and that's our MK day and we are having dinner with friends that night at Boma.

I am considering Lasik more and more...trying to shave my legs is now a life threatening experience!! I have to let my cornea get better though before I take the next step.

My foot...I am going to pound my foot on the threadmill and see how it fairs in the new sandles. Chicago was just like a Disney day with the walking. And, then the shoveling in bad boots didn't help. So....it has to mend again. I wish I knew someone who wore a size 10 to pass on all my cute pink sandles to:guilty:

TP2 - there is good and bad to both choices. They are both hard but in different ways. There are days my kids need me and I CAN'T be home and it kills me to have to go. But I would not have been a good mom had I stayed home. It would have made me an unhappy person and I think they would have paid a different price for that. For it to be a good decision you have to want to stay home and it sounds like those babies turned that switch on for you.

I don't know how the women in the US do it with so little time off to find your way as a new mom. It must be incredibly hard.

The neighbour gets little gifts once in a while for helping out. She often has to let the kids in when they forget the key (since they are older now) and she will rescue them if it is pooring rain. I don't pay her for these since she would never take the money anyway. I gave driving lessons to her daughter as a favour though.

The women we gave the trip to was a full time sitter for us and she did get paid. But she was so reliable and I was so lucky to have had the same person for all those years. She never left me stranded. She always took my vacation as her own. She was just wonderful and I felt that I needed to reward her for all her years of service. I was lucky to be able to do it since it was maybe the only time she would be able to get there.

I was blessed so I wanted to be a blessing for her.

Can you imagine having someone's kids for 11 years? She took them 5 days a week 9-10 hours a day 50 weeks out of the year until the started school! She also had another family that the kids are identical in age until they went to school. My kids also went half days until grade one when they started full time.

Then she would still have them in the summers and school holidays. The four kids grew up together in her home.

We kept the work as a business relationship. She worked for me and by treating it that way, we were able to avoid arguments that other people talk about. If it was a normal work day and I kept the kids home then she still got paid because that was the arrangement...that sort of thing.

But the bond we formed had the friendship side as well and I am blessed to still have her around. You can never have too many people to love your kids.

EE22 - I am blind without my glasses and have to shave my legs by feel every time. :rotfl: I can't use a brand new razor ever. I make DH use each one first to dull it a bit so I don't cut myself too badly. :lmao: Poor guy would never admit to using the pink daisy razors if you asked him....:lmao:

:cutie: mky

have you ever flown Air Tran? Their flights are out through August...I think when you're going. I can't remember your dates now. I saw some $109 fares out of Midway. Not sure how cheap you can go from O'hare. Also, SW fares are out through August 3rd.
