Hiya everyone,

Just a rainy sunday here. All the trees are changing and leaves are starting to fall already. I guess winter is not far behind.

Well, I finally did it. Got the dreaded "shot" in my heel. Yes, it was as bad as I thought it would be. Did this on friday so now on day 3 it actually feels improved. But I don't want to jinx it. Keep your fingers crossed.

Tomar, sis and I was looking at SSR stuff, and wondering> if we are not dvc, are there things, or places that we are not allowed to use, or go? Just for dvc members? Don't want to wander into a "special dvc only" club by mistake.;)

We made it to the 30's yeah! So time to start rethinking resturants etc.. . Travel channel has really been re-running the disney shows. They about got sis and I set to go on our cruise, next year.

Well just wanted to check in. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mky:cutie:

MKY:cutie: ...OUCH ! I know what you mean about that shot...Mr. Tomar was having trouble with his heel just before we left for the world in July ...and the Foot Doc gave him a shot too !! YIKES !...But...honestly...he was feeling better in no time....you just can`t keep getting it he was told...but Im sure you know that already.....
SSR.....I`m sure you guys are going to be fine....When we check-in at the Carriage House...we recieve our Room Key cards saying "DVC Member" on them.......other than that...I can`t think of any other difference....I hope you Love staying there...as much as we do :cloud9: ...Congress Park is a Beautiful area of the Resort....it`s a little aways off from the "Main Pool" ...but it`s on the Lake going to DTD...and you`ll have the very cute Froggy Quiet pool there...:beach:I think I sent you some of the pictures from Congress Park...
The Turf Club is a nice restaurant (sit down)...and the Artist Pallette has great CS food (Healthy)
You guys can take the boat to DTD...or walk(if your foot is up to it;) )...
I was just looking at some of the pictures from MNSSHP....the parade looks AWESOME mky-
Your gunna have soo much fun !!:woohoo: :woohoo:

Hi All...I'm still so far behind, but figure I'll just chime in and wish everyone well! I hope the shot helps with your foot mky. My foot is okay some days and others it's not.

I can't wear regular shoes at all anymore. I bought a pair of aerosoles that I thought I could wear to drive in and to walk into school and I wore them to dinner last night and it wasn't good. My danskos must be doing the trick then because at the end of the day my feet hurt, but not my joint. They hurt from being on them all day. My crocs are the best for me and my skechers, but not long distance walking so I hope the special tennis shoes I bought will work for Disney. I'll try them out in the Windy City.

This weekend was a nightmare with homework for DD. End of the quarter this coming week. ICK!!!

I'm still just running from one event till the next. We have a week between football and basktball.

I can't believe how close you are MKY. Tomar and I are coming up soon to make ADRs though!!

Hiya everyone,

Tomar, thanks for the info. ;) We did drive through in august at SSR, so kinda know the layout. I agree (and hope) we get the congress park area. I think it is the best view. Although I read that most people seem to pick being nearby the main buildings.
Hope your feeling (and healing) better.

EE22, I tried on some dansko shoes and they reminded me of my original inserts. Stiff? or do they break in. I got so use to my inserts I could not go without wearing them. But md has made me stop cause they where too rigid. We said your better off with Over the counter inserts and just changing them more frequently. Use a good company "Spenco" they are green and sell at medical supply stores but also saw them in ladies footlocker. We went to woodfield mall (schamberg) out past ohare this weekend and (limited my walking) but they had signs saying a new kind of disney store was coming. Sounded like something related to travel? The signs where all over the mall. This is the biggest mall in Illinois. Very nice. So I will keep you posted if we go back and it is open.
We went there for "the walking store" & sketchers store, but really didn't find anything. I love the sketchers outlet at wdw (prime outlets> they will even ship home. Will definatley be there in november. The physical therapist would roll over > he hates sketchers said they are bad on your feet. I always felt more comfortable in sketchers and don't like nike. I was only wearing nike when these foot problems started.

Candi, that must be some fireworks show if its better than wdw. Here they send up 1 rocket at a time > soooooooooooo boring. Chicago is just too nuts to even consider going up there for there fireworks.

TP2, hope your DD is doing better. Weather here has been brutal with asthma. We have been loaded at work with kids.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. mky:cutie:

I have inserts in both pairs of my sketchers....I can never spell them either and I'm too lazy to go look. I may end up wearing those as dress shoes for many days.

I cannot wear regular tennis shoes...they kill the arch in my foot...sketchers are more flat. I have a black pair with rhinestones on the sides. I can't teach if my feet hurt...so...I may be wearing those more. However, the ballet style...they won't work for me...only the tie ones.

Without the inserts though...forget it. I can't remember the brand, but they are over the counter ones and not too pricey. The foot doc gave them to me.

And then...there's my back...it's not in a good state now so any type of heal which the Dansko I bought have...my back kills at night. So...it's not good.

The Danskos are stiff, but I need that with my joint and a cushion and every pair is different. I like the sandles I ended up with too.

I have to have my crocs on around the house or my foot hurts too so I have a pair of slip ones.

Not good! but I'll survive. I have days where I'm not on my feet as much.
I will do anything to avoid shorts and surgery. The foot doc wanted to do shots with me too.

Hiya everyone!

EE22, I have to wear the arch supports all the time too. We went to a very nice wedding & reception 2 weekends ago, > and there I was in a very nice dress and my black flats.:confused3 My friends all knew why, but you still feel funny. Now, today was my 1st day at work > after shot and  Don't know how long it will last but my foot felt better today than before the rupture occurred.:cool1: Finally!:wizard: Yes, the shot was terrible, the first part is the lidocaine to numb which takes about 30 seconds > then the rest is all steroids. I kept it iced and off of it for the day and then gradually walked on it > so worth it. I would definately do it again (and might have to). Md also said, next we draw some blood > spin it down to the platelets and then they inject your own platelets into the heel. :confused3 Not real anxious to do that, but might have too. This last few weeks > my knee is killing me. Md says it is from walking funny with the foot and should just go away as I walk better, Might be why your back is screwed up? He said it would afffect everything, knees, hips, backs etc... . So waiting now for that to clear up. This doc I have is staying at the Poly the same time we are there. We are his information source for wdw.:thumbsup2 He takes care of sis's knee, too. Anyhow, I would seriously consider the shot to try at least once. It was made a world of difference (so far), and hopefully will heal something before it dissappears.

mky:cutie:

MKY: So happy to hear that the shot is helping. I can't imagine getting that shot either. I got my flu shot yesterday and I thought that was pretty bad.:scared1: I don't know how you and EE22 are going to walk through Disney with those feet. I don't have any sort of problems like that and it is a hard day no matter what. We take lots of breaks too because of the kids and it is still hard. I wish you guys the best of luck.

Well, DD3 is doing better with the asthma. She is more willing to do her treatments so life is a bit better. I had DD6 home yesterday and she needed the nebulizer. The doctor started her on Singulare. I don't know what is going on this year but things are out of control health wise here.

Tomar: My arm is pink and brown now. I know what you mean about it taking a long time to heal. I am just hoping that I don't wind up with a scar. I keep putting vitamin E on now.

Bet you guys are all getting excited for your trips. Everyones is getting so close, even those next summer are really getting into the decision phase. Restaurants will need to be picked soon, ADR time is right around the corner.

Hope all is well with everyone. Life has been insane and I have missed checking in.:grouphug:

Hi TP2 :goodvibes
Glad you had time to post and let us know how you and the family are doing !!
So happy that DD is taking her treatment well now :wizard:
Yep- I know what you mean about hoping we don`t get a scar:scared1: .....this icky...icky red and brown mess that`s making "Unwanted" artwork on my arm is taking forever to go away !!!:scared: I was told to try vitiman E as well....I will try that at night...because...where it is (on the inside of my forearm)..unless I keep it covered...anything I put on...will rub off right away !!!! GRRRRRR:crazy:
Im grateful that it is healing though...and hope that yours is healing well too...as long as we just don`t look at the "design" it`s making on our skin... I guess we`ll survive this...right? LOL

Wow, was I away that long...you guys have been chatting up a storm.

MKY - SSR does not have members only areas. They have a members openhouse on Wednesdays at different Disney locations, but I think that is in the sales center. You won't have any troubles. If I find out where they are at, I will post it for you. They always have a sandwich board type sign marking it as well. I have never been asked for ID at the members meetings. They are a "hype" event so even if you were not a member, you would probably want to be by the time you left.

The mall that you were talking about in Chicago has a new Disney Vacation Club sales center opening with versions of the resort rooms. Go check it out and I am sure they will give you a trading pin or something for stopping by. I love DVC freebees. You can choose to trade it if you don't like it.

Have any of you tried massage therapy? I don't mean the "spa" type of message but one done by a regestered message therapist....it will do wonders to get things feeling better. I suffer from siatica and it really helps me because the hips, knees and lower back all hurt from over compensating for the back problem.

As for vitamin E - you can take the suppliment internally and it will do wonders for your skin while it heals. The body uses vitamin E to create skin cells so taking the vitamin works better for the healing process. The vitamin E cream will help reduce the appearance of the scar. I take about 1200 IU per day when ever I have a wound that needs a little TLC to heal better. Keep taking it for at least two weeks after it has fully healed as well.

Well the 11-12 hour work days have caused my house to become nothing but a complete mess. The DH does not understand the chaos he needs to follow up on when I am not home. I could hardly get in the door the other day for all the (bleep here) that was on the landing. Got to go. :laundy:

Hiya everyone!:wizard:

Candi, I asked because years ago when we stayed at BWV they had a area by the quiet pool, somekind of house? With games and movies, vcr tapes, etc.. . for dvc members. We never went in there nor tried too, just felt it was an off limits area. But this is when BWV just opened and was new. They had many problems on that trip > mostly the reason we are still not dvc. :confused3 We had not even wanted to return to a villa since, this is our only 2nd attempt. Mostly because of tomar, and the AP discount that was offfered at SSr. Hopefully, things are all worked out, and should change our mind on dvc.:confused3

Tp2, So glad you got a few minutes too. Your right that you guys are really taking it this year, health wise. Hope things turn around soon.

I agree, my house is a mess too. By time I get home from work > just too tired to work all nite too. I wish little elves would show up and surprise me with everything done.:wizard:

35 days and counting!:donald: :donald: :donald: :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum

mky:cutie:

MKY - I know what you mean but I think the DVC has changed that. They do offer member discounts on some of the activities but I believe everything is open to everyone.

They will ask you at check in if you are a member or a guest and you will recieve a different pamphlet based on that. The perks are different for members (discounts etc).

My favourite part is "Welcome Home". Silly I know but I do love it!

I am glad Tomar got you to try it again. I hope it is wonderful and you have a great time. I loved the rooms and the convenience of the kitchenette in the room.

I do have an elf that comes every other week and takes away the dust bunnies and makes my bathroom sparkle.....I think I would give up eating before my house keeper:lmao:

EE22 - are you finding it hard to recover from the homecoming party? Was it a bit like the week after a big family wedding....sort of a let down that the party is over?

Stay healthy everyone...:dance3:

My burn is in the exact same place on my right arm. We made a pot of chicken soup for the next day and I was waiting for it to cool down before putting the pot in the fridge, I know lazy, and I used my arm to help push the pot in. I used the entire side of my arm. Luckily I had burn cream in the first aide kit and used it right away. It would up leaving a mark about 2" x 4" so not at bad as originally thought but same colors as yours. Hope it is getting better. Vitamin E is not staying on me either and the band aids keep falling off.

Candi: Thanks for the healing advice. I have to check and see if we have any capsules of Vitamin E.

MKY: When your elves show up, send over to NY. I stay home and I have the house empty for 3 hours. I get it pretty clean for about 5 minutes and then once everyone gets home it is completely trashed. I think it is so disrespectful but no one can even hear me. They all have their own things going on. Makes me crazy.:crazy2:

TP2, My "kids" are home all day. Its trashed when I get home & after I clean. My "kids" are 78 & 77 > neither in good health. That is why the long wdw trips. My older sister gets them 4 weeks a year. (and as much as I can spread it out). I wish I could get them out for a while, I would scrub down everything. My dad just keeps saying "its clean enough" get out of here. But it ain't, I am just a nunsance. :confused3 My travel buddy little sis> gets home 1 hr before me and takes the brunt of it each day. They are a little straightened out when I get home.

Tomar & TP2, burns heal better to air. Unless they are covered with a seleve and catch it > better to lube it up and leave it open. At least for part of the time. TP2, I pictured an old series "kung fu" to get out of the monestary they had to pick up a pot with there forearm and it left a burn (brand) mark. So now you are a kung fu monk.:rotfl2: (trying to cheer you guys up)

EE22, one of the other nurses yesterday was complaining about a teacher. She said "your new aren't you?" Poor guy. I could not image teaching high school kids and this guy is only 23yr old. Not sure what your mix out in the cornfields are like > but some parts around here. Are very "rough" chicago influences. :confused3

Candi, I can use your elves on mondays and then tp2 has dibs for wednesdays.:wizard:

34 days. :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :simba: :simba: :simba: :simba:

Hi All...it's been insane around here.

I cannot believe the 1st quarter is over! We are on block so the kids have been studying for semester finals and doing "lovely" projects which I cannot stand. They turn me into a crazed parent that's all I know.

Mky: our mix of students in our school isn't too bad. We have about 25% free and reduced lunch, but our population is changing FAST. It's changed a great deal since we've moved here. We have areas of low income federal housing which has changed our mix a lot in recent years. Teaching here is not at all what it would be in any large city or even in the suburbs around a large city. The problems we deal with are what my high school near Detroit dealt with 20 years ago. I always say that Iowa is at least 10 year behind the times. It is a great place to raise children that's for sure. Even if we did have a meth lab in the house behind us. I also teach mostly upper level courses now so I don't see the really low income students...there is a correlation...which is sad. I just read an article on no child left behind and the schools that are having troubles where they are suppose to "fire" all the teachers have 75% free and reduced lunch students. Can't imagine. The bill will fail. If they fire all those teachers, where will they get new ones?

I'm sorry I've been gone so much. Lots going on. My step mom had major back surgery this week...4 rods in her back, but seems to be doing well. DH is going to travel some and has already which puts a strain on me, and football is still going on. When I think I'm going to be able to come up for air...something happens and I don't!

My foot is killing me. I wore my skechers with my flexy over the counter inserts the last two days and my back is better so I'm thinking it's my heals on the shoes I have. So...I am no longer going to make fun of old people in ugly shoes. I'm heading that way. I may try some more skechers. Only thing...my pants will all be too long since I always wear a bit of a heal. I'll just wear crocs and call it a day. I can't go without them at home now at all and you're right TP2...I'm worried about walking at WDW. I'm hoping my special shoes I bought will work for me. I'm wearing them again on Sat when I'm hitting the Disney Store...first time since last March.

My house is a mess. In 3 years when the kids leave, it will be organized again and I'm over it!!

I didn't get a reject letter for Disney Moms yet nor an acceptance.

So, sorry if I missed something on here...no time to go back over it. I do read the posts, but no time at night.

MKY...can't wait to hear about your trip.

OH!!! a former student stopped in today. She's working in Chicago. Eventually she'll get back here as they want kids and everyone comes back to raise kids:love: she was in FL and moved back because of the schools, but the job took her to the Windy City. She was one of the managers of the POLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't believe it. She showed me her wedding pic in front of the castle. It's $72,000 to get married in the MK :scared: she only had pics in front of the castle. How cool that she was working at the Poly. She was GREAT at math too.:teacher:

EE22: I wonder what that $72,000 includes. I bet not too much. When I had the program there, almost 10 years ago, it would have been $125,000 to have a party on the street of the Back Lot Tour. It was the cheapest package available. Then I had to add food and everything else. That price was just to rent out the park space. We would up doing something at the beach at the Yacht Club. Had a wonderful time still.

So curious to hear if you made the next round. Can't wait to hear.

EE22 - it will be very exciting to see if you get selected. By the time I tried to sign up they said they had enough volunteers. I was very disappointed.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

She said the $72,000 was just to "buy out" the MK for the wedding nothing else and that was with a CM discount I'm sure.

No emails about going on to the next round so I would assume I'm not moving on at this point.
