Hi All...it's been insane around here.
I cannot believe the 1st quarter is over! We are on block so the kids have been studying for semester finals and doing "lovely" projects which I cannot stand. They turn me into a crazed parent that's all I know.
Mky: our mix of students in our school isn't too bad. We have about 25% free and reduced lunch, but our population is changing FAST. It's changed a great deal since we've moved here. We have areas of low income federal housing which has changed our mix a lot in recent years. Teaching here is not at all what it would be in any large city or even in the suburbs around a large city. The problems we deal with are what my high school near Detroit dealt with 20 years ago. I always say that Iowa is at least 10 year behind the times. It is a great place to raise children that's for sure. Even if we did have a meth lab in the house behind us.

I also teach mostly upper level courses now so I don't see the really low income students...there is a correlation...which is sad. I just read an article on no child left behind and the schools that are having troubles where they are suppose to "fire" all the teachers have 75% free and reduced lunch students. Can't imagine. The bill will fail. If they fire all those teachers, where will they get new ones?
I'm sorry I've been gone so much. Lots going on. My step mom had major back surgery this week...4 rods in her back, but seems to be doing well. DH is going to travel some and has already which puts a strain on me, and football is still going on. When I think I'm going to be able to come up for air...something happens and I don't!
My foot is killing me. I wore my skechers with my flexy over the counter inserts the last two days and my back is better so I'm thinking it's my heals on the shoes I have. So...I am no longer going to make fun of old people in ugly shoes. I'm heading that way. I may try some more skechers. Only thing...my pants will all be too long since I always wear a bit of a heal. I'll just wear crocs and call it a day. I can't go without them at home now at all and you're right TP2...I'm worried about walking at WDW. I'm hoping my special shoes I bought will work for me. I'm wearing them again on Sat when I'm hitting the
Disney Store...first time since last March.
My house is a mess. In 3 years when the kids leave, it will be organized again and I'm over it!!
I didn't get a reject letter for Disney Moms yet nor an acceptance.
So, sorry if I missed something on here...no time to go back over it. I do read the posts, but no time at night.
MKY...can't wait to hear about your trip.
OH!!! a former student stopped in today. She's working in Chicago. Eventually she'll get back here as they want kids and everyone comes back to raise kids

she was in FL and moved back because of the schools, but the job took her to the Windy City. She was one of the managers of the POLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't believe it. She showed me her wedding pic in front of the castle. It's $72,000 to get married in the MK

she only had pics in front of the castle. How cool that she was working at the Poly. She was GREAT at math too.
