I read on the resort board about the noise with construction at AKL...I guess things happen for a reason and I'm glad I won't have to worry about that.

DH is ready to go back. There was a method to my madness of not going this summer. I also asked if he would go with me when the kiddies were gone..."yes, as long as you don't run me ragged." I said yes...but I'll need valium with me

VMK Princess: DH and I love Cirque. I think just watching the fireworks would be wonderful. We are never alone so just talking would be fab in the World. Take one of the Friendship boat rides around MGM just to take in the sites of those resorts at night...too hot in the day time!! How about walk over the YC and BC from Epcot in the evening and have a sundae at Beaches and Cream? We walked to YC and BC after Illuminations and picked up a cab there too. It's a nice walk and not too long.

Hiya everyone!

Thanks for the congrat's. It was very hard, cause they revised it this year. Now maybe I am again qualified for that nurse job at the magic kingdom. Since I am certified in pals (pediatric advanced life support).

Having a big deliemma? Can't seem to decide about thanksgiving. We narrowwed it done to: kona, ohana, grand floridian cafe, or castle. But now, I am wondering if the extra expense for that one day is worth it? Seems like last year, some prices for turkey dinners where pretty steep. Wondering if we ate a regular meal the day after, if it would not just be as nice? What about a turkey leg, for dinner on thanksgiving? Yikees, I have 3 more days to worry about it before my 180.

ee22 every time I read you have 8 etc... . days, I think gosh, she gets most of the summer off. I ought to rethink, school nursing? Unfortunately, around here they make about 1/2 of hospital $$. And I can't afford that kinda cut. Would cut into my "deluxe" plans at disney. Maybe, I will just hold out and retire?

Anybody, been to these starwars weekends at wdw? They sound pretty neat. Lots of extra's going on. Brings out my inner nerd.

Your right about akl and the construction. seems like a hot topic on the boards. I have been second guessing Contemp resort too. But think if we wait till the construction is over, it will be really crowded, with a new tower? I am sticking with our original plan.

Teaching: Remember I get out early and I'm back at it early in August unlike IL, MI and the East Coast when they start after Labor Day.

And...

my pay is horrible we keep dropping in rankings even with our pay raises. Sort of sad. IL is better than here so you can just imagine what the corn fields pay I also do many extras that I am not paid for which is starting to wear me out.

So...8 days and I'll take it though even with the poopey pay.

Hope I didn't offend you, I ment school "nurse" I am envious of your hours, weekends, and holidays off. I really have no idea what they pay teachers here. I know all about bad pay, I graduated in 1980 from nursing school and took my 1st hospital job paying a whooping: $6.10! We are doing alot better now, starting pay is about $22 here. But I know you love teaching, I can tell in your writing. But come near vacation time and everyone wants out of there jobs. There are probably more reasons not to become a nurse that I can think of, but I could not image having a different job, or giving this up. Unless, I get a job for disney? Think I would be a great CRO, loves to talk on phone, and vet of many disney resorts, has "codes" done pat.. .....

Sorry if it came off that way with my reply.

Here's a story for you...this person applied for a teaching job and didn't take it...he was shocked at how little he'd make. He was going to move over from the business world and teach. He didn't think he could raise a family on the wages the school could pay him.

I really do love my job, but the pay stinks and as you know, I work a lot in the summer If I did a re do on my life, my job is one thing that I would not change....because I am with my kids so much more than any other job.

I do wish they would let me take days off during October though so I could go to MNSSHP. That I hate about my job. I cannot take more than 2 days off outside our scheduled vacations. I think that stinks. I guess my kids better get married in the summer.

thanks for the advice everyone! We appreciate it. We are really trying to plan the days... since we know july 4th is probably one of the busiest weeks of the year. I made reservations for a couple of restaurants. We'll just see how it goes. We are big into rides and stuff like that. So, we look forward to all of those things.

Tomar You are getting so close. Are you all set with your planning?

TP2 Have you made any decisions?

Tommorrow (friday) is my 180 day! So we can finally call and get our adr's for the first 10 days and that includes thanksgiving. Think we will take all the advice I read saying NOT to go to magic kingdom. We are thinking (decided?) on mgm / and primetime 50's? (maybe???). I am driving sis crazy. I think she would be happy with a turkey leg. I told her, we should make something now, and if we change our mind and want to skip the meal we can cancel. (holidays its 24 or 48hr). I hate paying $50.00 a person for a turkey dinner, when the next day it would be $15.00? Maybe we will have thanksgiving at home before we leave?

I called wdw, yesterday and moved a few adr's, around. With some resturants closing etc.. . Asked if we had a code with our name, no go. Will keep watching for late august AP rates.

I have a big 3 day (off) weekend! sat, sun, and mon! Wow, we don't get that lucky often. Hope everyone has a great weekend & and great weather.

Vader will be 8 months this weekend. He is huge. Large but skinny for a g. shepherd. Once he fills out he will be dangerous.

We went to Pirates too!! DS and I loved it. DH was lost, but that's nothing new for him. DD who is now 14 was on a rant for two days over how it ended! When will it end??? the lady at graduation yesterday said 17 is worse. I may not make it. TP2...start running now and maybe you can find a great place to hide!!!

EE22: 2 days for you!!!

I wish I could run. My DD8 had me make homemade cookies for her class for today. There I was after gymnastics and dinner making cookies for kids I don't know at 8:00pm in the heat of the summer. She said I HAD to make them because she already told her class how good her moms homemade cookies are. If I started to run I would not even get to the car because I am so exhausted from the kids. I would probably just collapse on the driveway.

I did not see Pirates yet but I had a feeling that the end was confusing. I saw a couple of threads about it. I found 2 a bit confusing but I thought is was just that I was so tired I was not paying full attention to the movie. I will watch all 3 this summer when things quiet down.

MKY: Still no AP rates for August. I saw you on the code watch board. Hopefully by the end of this week. My girlfriend got *** for $49 in July. I am waiting to hear back from her as to how she got that rate. Sounds like a pin but she just booked. I did not think there were any out there now. Of course I have been coaching her the whole way. First she was paying $129 per night to stay there and I said, "NO WAY". She does have a house in Florida but no driver license. Maybe she found a way around that.

Tomar: We did have wonderful weather here all weekend. I am sure you did too. Hopefully you got to see you little princess.

TP2 Thanks for the pixie dust & hope! How is the planning going?

I am a little nervous that the ap rates might come out, and I won't be able to make a decision. CR's magic kingdom view, is either non-exsistant or extremely limited with discounts. So I might make a switch or split. But yes, saving alot of money is wonderful, but I kinda got my heart set on it. So I don't want to rush a decision at 6am, and hurrying off to work. I am sooooooooooooo confused. I think I have a secret dream, that I won't get a discount in aug, but am open to change up the fall ressies. (to make up for it).

Well either way, yesterday, I worked a double (16hr shift),(7am>11:30pm) for some extra $$$ (about killed me by 8:30pm last nite) The things we do for our disney addiction.

Over the weekend we saw pirates too! I liked it better than #2, but not as much as #1. I thought #2 was harder to follow some of the story.
