MKY:

about Bug. At least you still have a couple of days for her to hit the doctor and recover.
Funny you bring up seeing me there in August. I brought our left over tickets from last year to VA. Just in case we decided to extend our trip.
I need a new camera too. My last one, Canon Elf, the lens won't pop out anymore. Maybe overuse, not sure. I want one with a fast shutter speed. I am putting off buying the new one hoping for some improvements. We don't have many stills from this past trip. We do have video though. I need to get my hands on what we have though and send them to you girls.
EE22: DH is finally get used to me quoting you guys.
Hope DL11 bites are getting better. She must be tortured with all those bites. Funny but you think of the mess and forget about the all the other problems the water brings. Have they started spraying? They spray by the water all the time here.
Tomar: DD4 definately thinks she is a princess or a ballerina...depends on the day. She makes us laugh, that is for sure.
As for DC, I did not plan enough. Remember I was not too excited for that. It was much nicer than I remember and way more spread out. I knew we had to hit the National Museum because DD9 wanted to see Leonard Da Vinci's paintings. We got directions for the Metro and should have stuck with the original directions. Started talking to a nice man on the Metro and he gave us completely different directions.

Said if walking with 3 kids, the other station would have left us off in a bad place. So we listened and that was our first mistake. Got off and saw what everyone (except me) thought was the White House. I kept saying, "No...the Washington Monument is that way and the White House is in front of it." Well we walked all the way to the Capitol only to find it all blocked off. We have some pictures of fencing and the building way in the backround.

We ate lunch in the Senate building because there was no other food around. Listened to some very interesting conversation but none of it made much sense to me. (Just was not Disney talk)...BORING!

We then walked ALL THE WAY BACK to the Washington Monument, went to Union Square and the Liberty Bell along the way, hit the art museum (which was AMAZING) and walked towards the White House. We were all so exhausted, way too much walking. We now needed to find the Metro to take us back to the hotel. Walked about another 10 miles to take us on what we found the next day to be a 2 mile car ride.

Our hotel was so close to everything but when we went into that tunnel we lost track of where we were and how we got there. Would probably have been better off cabing it but like I said, I did not do enough research. Spent the rest of the early evening in the pool and then we walked around looking for a place to eat dinner. The kids won out and we ate in McDonalds.

Wound up being the first of MANY trips to McDonalds during this trip. The beds were amazing and we got the best nights sleep. The hotel grounds were so beautiful too. They were having a wedding the next day and had everything all set up for it. That is pretty much it for DC. The next morning we hit the pavement again and headed to Jamestown Settlement which was fun. Small, confined, not too much walking. Perfect for us. Everyone was happy, until we hit the hotel. Thank god we were only there for one night. Our condo was absolutely beautiful, brand new, and huge. No complaints at all except for the Springhill Suites Marriott in Williamsburg. Just gross.
