June/July/August 2006 Code watch

I hope that is right because mine expires before we go(the DDE expires the end of June and my AP expires July2- we'll be at the world June30-july9) so I hope that is right. Last year I don't recall anyone asking for my AP when we dined.- some did ask for ID to prove who I was- like a resort card ect...But I don't remember ever having to show an AP.
I did a search on it and that's what several people posted. Someone even asked the DDE office. I renewed mine the beginning of April still thinking ap rates would be released for our dates in June. After some confusion, I finally had it renewed. They told me 3 weeks to get the card. I haven't received mine yet, but that's because the person working there isn't working there anymore. I called back to check on it and sure enough...the feeling I had was correct. They totally messed it up. The new CM I talked with put my info in after May 8th so I would get a June 07 expiration. Just order yours before your pass expires.

Morning everyone! I don't post here that often, but thank you to everyone who does. Let's hope something comes out soon so we can stop watching this thread and move onto one much more fun.

Mky-In a previous post you said you live in Joliet. I moved from Schaumburg about a year ago, so I do feel your pain about the rain. We went to WDW for the first time several years ago in June. Got home around June 20 and that day the temperature was 58. I cried. Hang in there. The weather will be hot & sticky soon!

:hourglass :hourglass time to put plan B into action -- I ws trying to hold out, but need to call and book my add--on days before I check into DVC. Was hoping for AP rate for poly or GF, but do not see that at this time :confused3 guess book something and bump up if they are released -- only need 2 days before BCV :goodvibes

I believe you have to show a valid AP in order to actually use the DDE card. Even if the DDE card isn't expired, the AP still has to be valid also.

I have used our DDE card about 100 times so far and have never been asked to show my AP. I am never asked to show any identification at all.

That's what my research told me too...they don't ask for the AP. Even the DDE office answered that way when I asked.

Does anyone remember how the BRP was released last year? Was there an announcement on the Disney site? I was at WDW when the entire thing was unleashed so wasn't following the news on ap issues.

I know it went into effect after my May/June trip there last year. I booked Pop Century for Labor Day while I was up there thru CRO. I was there until 6/10 last year... If I remember right, it started by runing along side the late Aug/Oct AP rate release, except it was for stays from Nov & after (I think)

It's true that it isn't always asked for, but I've had it asked for a few times. The terms of use indicate it's required and I guess for me I'd be too embarrassed to take the chance, but that's me! Just wanted to put it out there in case some didn't know it's an actual requirement whether enforced or not.

You know though the more I think about it.... what if I was a FL resident...then I wouldn't have to have an AP. And what if I had moved? I think once you have the DDE you are good to go. I'll just renew it and hope for the best.

No, that is not how that program works. You need a valid AP to get it (unless you are a FL resident). FL residents use to be the only ones that were able to get the DDE. They offered a discount if you were an AP holder too.
Your DDE expiration date should be one year from the last day of the month you receive your card. You do not have to show your AP to use the DDE either. Only need the valid AP to purchase & that is it.

There are times that a CM will ask for ID, that they are suppose to do but are not consistant in doing so. I have had my DDE since 2000 & have never been asked to show AP.

Years ago CM 's at the food courts use to allow my teens to go up to the register to pay without me being there at the food courts (they would give them the DDE card & my DL), now they have stopped that, only the card holder can use it.

I find it annoying that the DDE office doesn't even know the rules if that's the case.

They should know the rules but you may have many new seasonal CM's in training now & they do not. That is not an excuse though for them not knowing, but may be the reason... ;)

If you ordered your DDE before your AP expires (which if I read your previous post, you did), then you should be ok. As far as being a FL resident & moving... if you moved during the year, obviously you will still have your DDE until your expiration date. If you went to renew after moving & not holding a valid AP, you will not get the card. They will deny you when they see the new address & no valid AP.

Finally read through the Sunday paper here and I got a little excited for a minute to see a Disney ad in the Travel section. It was not for rates at WDW though. It was for a new Florida resident DCL discount for this summer, including cruises in June. Maybe something for the resorts will be coming soon?

Happy Mother's Day to all!

I'd say I've used mine maybe 50 times and was asked one time for my AP at Sci Fi Dine-in. Several times (mostly at ASMo food court) I was asked for an ID. I did usually give DDE card with room key to charge it back to the room or Visa so in some ways I was showing another ID. I used it at the bar at AKL last week and the manager had to be present to OK the use but even he didn't ask for an ID.

Only reason that I can think of for the CM asking for the AP may have been as a form of ID, but that really would not make any sense since there is no pic on it. Unless it was a new CM :confused3 In any event, you are not suppose to have to show a valid AP to use the DDE. As far as being at the bar, I know they try not giving you the discount on alcohol. I don't know if this is done on purpose or by accident. I know CM's get a 20% discount on their food, but not alcohol & I think that is what confuses some CM when guests use the DDE card... They tried it once on me. Waiter at the All Star Cafe told me it wasn't valid on beer. I asked for the manager, manager said it wasn't valid... I pulled out my folded up paper with the list of where it was good & what it was good on.. he apoligized & gave me the discount.
