June/July/August 2006 Code watch

I got the "just wait for your email telling you the rates are out"! Yeah, right. . . I politely let the agent know that by the time I receive email (IF I receive it), the rates are gone!

I agree last year I got my email 2 DAYS after it went around on the DIS and there were no rooms left for the AP rate at that time.(thanks to the DIS and DU I already had my discount!)

last year I waited a whole week after the codes were released and got exactly what I wanted - BC.

I'm wondering if the occupancy rates for June are REALLY 92%, that might mean they'll skip June. I hope not.

I have been thinking that they are skipping June myself. It would explain why nothing has been released yet. It may be that they will wait until May 4 or so to release codes for after July 4 like in years past. I sure hope I am wrong because I know that a lot are waiting for June codes but it is not looking good. :sad2:

This is funny - I called this morning to actually make some priority seating. As the CM picked up the phone, I heard another CM in the background say
"Here we go ...." I think she was caught a bit off guard by the request for priority seating. I then casually brought up being a passholder and went from there. I, too, am giving up on passholder rates for June. I think last fall October was overlooked, too, because we used a AAA discount for our room. The 92% booking looks accurate when I check for room availability on Expedia -- very little is available for our stay on 6/5 to 6/12. I hadn't thought the crowds would pick up so much until after mid-June.

If they skip June, then bye-bye 4th of July would be my guess as well.
They skipped Easter and Memorial Day (not at first though).

Happy Thought for the Day:
Take your lowest/best deal ever and average it for the current rate and it's all good :)
$94 AKL Sav view was mine so my average is about $185 this time.

Besides that...I've got nothing... :rotfl:

Well, that's a good way to look at it. We had WL for $129 a couple yrs ago, that was a special surprise.
I guess those days are over! Lol
So if I look at it evened out, I'm not as sad!
Thanks!

Comparing these rates to past rates can be really dangerous. Last time we went we paid $139 for AKL Standard and got upgraded at check-in to Savannah view. Now I'm reserved at $247.50 AAA rate for WL Woodsview (no standard was available). My dh keeps asking why our trip is costing so much more this time. :rolleyes1

We are just canceling our trip all together. The cost of gas and car rental has us in shock already. Really thought we'd get a good AP rate, this is our first year with APs.
Well, we won't be renewing our APs this year. Very disappointed. Those of you who are going have a wonderful trip!!!!

Kimi313 When I was looking into AAA (well CAA I live in Canada) I called directly to them told them I didn't have it but if it was worth it to buy for the discount I would as it is only $60.Cdn. She was more than happy to help me and did it all for me I was saving a good amount but unfortunately for them and fortunately for us we discovered we had a contact at Disney and got the cast memeber rate at 40%off so did not go with CAA. But just call and ask them it only takes 5 minutes for them to do it!!!

Up tonight trying to figure out how to cut budget if AP doesn't come out. For AAA members i have a question. If I call either CRO or AAA without, joining yet, will they tell me if there is any discount that can be applied to my exsisting reservation at Poly if I had AAA and then let me join and receive discount or do I have to join first. I wouldn't mind joing AAA first if it was still early but this late in the game and I have already bought AP don't won't to fork over any extra money right now.

To answer your question .... we are booked with a AAA rate for the week of July 4th, but we haven't joined yet. No one asked for a number or anything. We simply have to show the card at check-in.

HOWEVER ..... DH called (again) Sunday or Monday night (the days are running together) to see about a AAA rate for either CR or POR as we're getting nervous about AP rates for the Poly .... well, he was told there are NO AAA RATES AVAILABLE for those dates. :confused3

I don't know if this helps, but .... if you WANT to try booking with a AAA rate, I would suggest doing it now! We booked back in February for our July trip & didn't have a problem, but now .... good luck!!!

Quite honestly, if we hadn't told our girls already we would be right behind you. In our case we are going to have to downgrade our hotel.

just talked to a semi friendly CM who wouldn't give me a AAA discount unless I have a number. I asked him to check availability and he asked for the dates and immediatly replied 'yes we could apple the discount'. Not really sure if he checked so the plan is call back in a couple of hours when a nicer CM is there and I am back from work and go from there. Wish me Luck (of course if I was really luckey AP would have came out this morning and I wouldn't having to do this  .

If you're really set on booking at the AAA rates, I just went and checked online and POR is showing availability for the time that you will be there. It gave me a rate of $131.75 for Standard and $148.75 for Water View. Contemporary show availabily in Standard/Garden View at $279 before dropping to $249 on 7/5 for Value season. They also had availability in "Varied View/Garden Wing."

When I called to book our trip at AAA rates, the CM told me that some rooms are released at AAA rate through CRO and some are released specifically for AAA to sell online. That might explain the discrepancy.

We're booked right now at POR:RS 6/30-7/5 and AKL 7/5-7/8 but I'm driving myself crazy trying to figure out if I should dump the POR:RS ressies and reserve AKL or WL for those dates at rack rates with fingers crossed for AP codes. (The only AAA rate for AKL and WL for those dates is still too high!)

I've noticed that online through expedia and travelocity, AKL has standard rooms available for dates that they weren't just a few days ago. On the other hand, some WL woods view rooms were available and are now showing to be booked. Arrgggggh!

I am sorry you are cancelling your trip but keep in mind that having an annual pass does not guarantee you annual pass discounts. Most people get an annual pass because they return more then once within a year

dreamsofdisney -

could you tell me how to check AAA rates online? They aren't on the disneyworld.com site right? You'd have to go to a AAA site?

Thank you.
