Greetings from the plane!
OMG, could this morning have been any more STRESSFUL???
We left the house about 15 minutes later than we planned, but I was cool with it. I didn't think it would matter. Got to the offsite parking lot, went to our reserved sapce, hopped on the shuttle. It's all good.
There were 3 other families on the shuttle who were all leaving out of terminals that came before ours. Huh. OK, still not really worried. Until I realized how very LATE it had gotten.
Tick, tick, tick.
By the time we pulled up to our terminal (Terminal E for those familiar with DFW) it was 6 AM. Flight was 6:50. NOT GOOD. Shuttle dumps us on the sidewalk where there are signs for some airline that is NOT Airtran. There is NOBODY to help us. No luggage carts, no porters, nothing. We are stranded on the sidewalk with a total of 7 suitcases. OK, NOW I am starting to freak out.
We go up the escalator and the terminal is PACKED. But there are NO SIGNS for Airtran. Now I am REALLY freaking out. I am pitching a fit because there are no signs, NO employees, NOBODY to direct us or help us and it is after 6 AM. The line for security is like 200 people long. Definitely NOT GOOD.
Finally some dude takes pity on me and asks what we need. We tell him checked bags for Airtran. He points us down the hall. There is a dedicated line for Business class. YAY!

But the people in front of us have about 15 kids, at least that many bags, plus car seats. Tick, tick, tick. We get the bags checked in. It is about 6:15.
The guy tells us to go down one more building because the security line is shorter. We go outside, get confused, end up back where we started! We try again. Outside, WAY down to the next building, up the escalator, to a security line every bit as long as the first one.

Announcement that our plane is in final boarding. There are easily 150 people in front of us. I paid $200 to upgrade to Business class on a flight we are going to miss.
I am a tough girl. But I decided the only solution here was to cry, even though I NEVER cry about ANYTHING. Some of the businessmen in line with us said the flight wouldn't leave until 6:50, so there is some hope. It was 6:30. Another announcement that all passengers should be ON the plane. We are still in the line for security.

We get through the stupid scanner, grab our stuff, and SPRINT to the gate. We are the last ones to board. They close the door at 6:45 AM.
