Stupid question for those who have cruised recently. Can you just charge laundry to your shipboard account now or do they take cash? I am trying to pack as little as possible, which my children think is funny considering I just bought another suitcase.;)

I'm pretty sure you can use your KTW card. I know what you mean about packing light. I just started making my "packing piles" last night and sadly it's not all going to fit. I've bought a few space bags... hopefully those will help!

I sat thru my last class of the semester making my very detailed packing list... I'm sure that helped me prepare for my finals! Oops! Guess we know where my brain is focused! ;)

I'm pretty sure you just use your room key now not cash. We'll see you in the laundry then as with packing restrictions and two little children we won't have a choice!

Congratulations on being done with classes and good luck on your finals!!!

Thanks for the answers on the laundry question everyone. Good luck on travel preparations.

I also had a laundry question! We plan on using it on day 2, Sea Day since we'll have been travelling for a week by then. This is really, really stupid ... but ... here goes ... is it better to use liquid or powder? We use liquid at home but just not sure about the machines on the ship. And should we bring our own (probably only do one load or maybe 2 depending on colours) or buy the stuff from the vending machine?

I am not sure about which type of detergent is best but for our last cruise, we brought our own detergent in a baggie (powder). For this cruise, we bought some individual packets from Walmart. They are liquid and sold by all the other travel-size items. Enjoy your pre-cruise travel!!!!

I've often wondered about travelling internationally with a baggie of white powder. :rotfl2:

I always take my own laundry powder. I have used tablets, powder and liquid and all were okay. I'm always wary that the boxes in the laundry contains bleach.

The machines definitely use your key to the world card

They also have boxes of detergent for sale in the laundry. They are cheap - I wouldn't waste space and weight in my suitcase carrying it with me.

Hey June 8th crew! I'm on the 18th cruise and wondering if you have rec'd your GTY assignments yet? Any luck? Just wondering what is in store.....Have fun y'all.

Actually, I'm still waiting on my GTY assignment :) I booked the cruise about 10 or so days ago, though, so that could be a factor in my assignment being a little tardy.

.. Either that or I'm sleeping in the engine room and they haven't told me yet :rotfl:

There are people who would probably PAY to sleep in the engine room... sort of like sleeping in Cinderella castle. :rotfl:

In which case I'm sure that if I do end up down there, somebody will be willing to swap my luxurious accommodations for a verandah ;)

I'm sure glad the world didn't end today! I've got a date with Mickey Mouse! ;)

:thumbsup2

But a volcano did erupt in Iceland again. Thank heavens it is not cancelling flights!!!

Yeah, I woke up this morning and read that and my heart skipped a beat. Thankfully, they're saying it won't be like last year. Oy. Don't think I can rest easy until I'm on that ship. LOL

For those of you in the VGT category (Veranda Guarantee) what kind of rooms did you get?
